Rebooting calorie/weight calculator

Monday, April 25, 2016

Have decided to reset my caloric intake number since I have not lost any weight consuming 1000 daily. I thought "starvation mode" was a myth but I so seem to be experiencing a metabolic slowdown. So using an online weight calculator I came up with 1327 calories per day; I hope to lose .5 lb. per week and I have given myself 14 months in which to reach my goal of 120 lbs. I am a postmenopausal 65 year old and I take Mylan Levothyrox for under active thyroid and have done so for 20 years. I experienced immediate weight gain with this med, plus fatigue and a general slow down in my brain. Doctor said it would make me feel better but I feel it is barely keeping me alive. I will talk with her next physical exam and change brands or something. So, 2 items (Levothyrox and being postmenopausal) make it harder for me to lose weight. On the plus side, I will increase my protein daily, and I am going to give up alcohol for the duration. My evening glass of wine, although included in my accounting, must be inhibiting weight loss. Plus my alcohol "endurance" is up and I feel no pleasant buzz from it anyway. Hmmm, am imagining great things like a cleaner house and increased vitality. Yes, please. Today's food intake: Tea with milk and sugar and 1 slice sourdough toast with a scrape of butter. 232 calories Lunch: I seldom eat lunch Supper: 3 oz. sand dabs, .4 oz. raw beef carpacio, 1 tsp. olive oil, 1 slice Italian bread, diet Pepsi Calories: 240 Snack: martini (200 calories). Okay, I crashed and burned on the no alcohol. DH and I stopped at dear friends' house and had a drink. Good news is I have 2/3 of restaurant sand dab meal to enjoy as I was full after 1 teensy fillet. Will equal 2 meals. I have no appetite and was filled after a few bites. It is going to be hard to eat 1327 calories per day on a senior citizen appetite, but at this point I need the protein. Tomorrow I will try to eat veggies and fruit. If anyone reading this has any input to share about Levothyrox, I'd love to chat. Here are some wind tossed roses from my yard. They are called "4th of July" and are blooming happily. Cheers, Sparkers!
