Still on vacation but thought I would pop in. I've had a great few days and will be back home late on Monday. Lots of walking and healthy eating!
On the first two days we walked over 20K each day, that was kinda cool. The first stop of the day was to get mouse ears for the twins. There were such troopers on the flight. Paisley even fell asleep in my arms during landing. My heart just about melted having her curled up in my arms. Here she is with her new hat.
Peyton decided she needed to walk with us and we can always get her to laugh and have fun if we're willing to walk at a snail's pace while she holds our hands.
It's Disneyland so how can you not have fun right? And how can you not buy more than one hat for the little ones?
Of course what good is a hat if you haven't got smashing new sunglasses?
With all the temptations around I was pleased at how easy it was to say no to them. Sure we were walking lots but it wasn't like we were walking at a fast pace and I didn't want to use the extra steps as an excuse to add extra calories that weren't really being burnt off. We stocked the kitchen up on the first day with lots of fresh fruits, healthy meal options and snacks. Those who want to eat out could and those who wanted to eat healthy at home could do that as well, it worked out well. I did have one indulgence of cherry pie one night but made sure that I had the calories before diving in.
Universal was a blast! OMG Harry Potter World!!! It was so awesome! I could have spent half the day just in that section but there was so much to see and we had to move along. This was the least active day but still covered 12K before the day was out.
Today I wanted to do something different. Some of our group were heading to the beach but I'm not a sit out on the sand type of person and I knew I'd get board so I opted to go for a hike up towards the Hollywood sign. I've wanted to do this for years and finally got the chance and was healthy enough to make the trek. The smog was horrible and that was strange to hike in it. I'm so used to my area, the trees and the fresh air. The paths were very narrow and along the side of hill, at times looking down was a little freaky, even for me.
Round trip the hike was only 7K, I would have loved to have gone up closer to the sign but the person I was with has bad knees and I didn't want to take him up the stiff section.
Hands down this has been the healthiest trip to Disneyland I've ever taken. I'm having a great time. There have been tense moments, but with two families sharing one house that's going to happen and live and learn. One more full day then we head home. I miss my husband and it will be nice to see him again.
