Keep moving!!!

Sunday, June 26, 2016

I got mad at Fitbit when my new HR Charge stopped working & they wouldn't replace it. I'd been wearing a Fitbit for 3 years and kept upgrading with each new model. So I ended up trying some other trackers - didn't love any of them & then messed up my foot. Being in a boot for 7 weeks kept me from doing much so I forgot about the trackers. A few weeks ago I started Atkins again and was starting to move a little more (foot still has some tendon damage on the side but I'm getting used to the mild discomfort). Last week I got an email from Fitbit about a new model & decided to buy it.

I've been wearing it for 4 or 5 days now and it still amazes me at how much more I'm moving! Between 9 am and 5 pm it encourages you to get at least 250 steps per hour. Guess, if you're working in an office and sitting, they want you to get some movement. Since it shows up on my app, I'm making sure to get those extra steps in. I'm back to wanting those 10k steps a day - and when I get to 13k like last night I go to bed with a smile on my face.

Stepped on the scale this morning feeling like I'd lost a few pounds. No. I did not. But instead of getting discouraged, I realized that I have been feeling so much better in the past few weeks & that is the important thing. I'm almost 50 - it's a battle to get weight off - but I know it's possible. So, I continue on. And remember that we are worth it. We're worth the battle with temptation. We're worth the sore muscles and the tired bodies. We're worth the effort. Keep on pushing, friends. We've got this!!

Here is a pic of part of my deck... this is my "happy place"!

Enjoy your weeks to come, with the fitbit and the beautiful deck. I expect you will see a scale drop soon, also, with all of those steps. makes me want to save up for the fitbit! Good luck to you and I hope your summer brings you much joy and happiness!

oooohhhhh, I LOVE YOUR DECK! I miss having a deck. Yours is just beautiful. emoticon
Thank you for your comment on my blog. Our deductible is to high on our insurance, so this is just out of pocket, but less than $2,000 with A/C repair & ceiling repair. So that's not to bad. Still...I could think of other things I'd like to spend $2k on.. ..right?!

I'm kind of on a platue right now, but that's better than a gain right?.. I know the weight loss will kick back in soon. I've been so busy with family visits, and getting this ceiling repaired that I haven't been watching what I eat as close as I was. But I'm getting back in line now. I truly feel so much better when I'm eating on my plan.

I have a generic fit-bit...LOL But I don't use it very much. But you have encouraged me to put it back on, and see how many steps I'm taking. thank you for your motivation.

What a great happy place... Just keep doing what you know works for you and the pay-off will come. I even find it kind of a fun game - when I have followed my plan all week and there is no drop in the scale, I know that next time, or the time after, there'll be a sudden huge drop. Which is kind of fun - to anticipate, and to experience! Hang in there, doing what's good for you. Feeling fit after 50 is worth it.

It is so true! I have not been able to move around enough to use up many calories- but on a LC/HF diet I feel so much better. That is worth a million! And the longer I am on it the less I fall off the wagon, because I don't like the taste of processed foods anymore!

Your fitbit sounds wonderful! Can you share what model it is? If I didn't have MS and could walk more I'd love a reminder like that!! :o)

Oh dear, I didn't know you had been immobilized for seven whole weeks! That must have been so hard. But I'm happy to read that you are getting back on your feet and into fitness again. You are so right about it NOT being too late! Age is just a number! I'll be sixty--sixty--in December, and my new goal is to prove somehow that things can turn around BIG even at this rather late date. Good for you for getting that FitBit and setting your eyes on that huge number of steps! You will definitely soon see results with that attitude!

Wow, your deck is beautiful!! It looks so peaceful and welcoming. I'm wondering if you still have wildlife wandering into your yard and peering through your windows. All the wildlife we have here in our yard is skeeters, cicadas, lizards, sparrows, and another screeching bird whose name I don't know. Wish we had more of the pretty birds you get to see all the time!

    Pretty nice happy place!

As for the battle I think this sums it up the best. We may not always have the motivation so we need to stay disciplined. I can't say as I have been disciplined at all giving myself free reign because I thought I deserved it. Well I deserve to look and feel a certain way.

I hope you also took your measurements when you started. Most times that tells a happier story than the scale!

I know exactly what you mean! Most nights I can't call it quits until I get all my steps in! I love the new feature Fitbit has to help you get moving throughout the day (I have a desk job & some days I don't get up for several hours = not a good thing!)
Your deck looks like a very happy place!
I'm glad you're back & your foot is getting better!
    Take care!

What a beautiful happy place! As someone that turned 50 6 months ago, I do know it is a bit harder, but not impossible to lose the weight and to keep it off. Keep on pushing to be the best that you can be. You are right, we are worth all of the effort we put into this!
Spark on and have a great Sunday!
