My daughter Scarlett was born on August 11. The last month has been absolutely incredible -- one of the most remarkable times in my life. There's a lot on my to-do list and I'm breastfeeding to boot so I won't be going full throttle on my weight loss goals. But I really, really look forward to improving my habits, losing weight and returning to normal exercise.
I gained about 38 lbs with Scarlett -- more than I intended but as someone who has struggled my whole life with weight, it definitely could have been worse! I walked daily through most of the first two trimesters, walked at least three times a week through about 36 weeks and did cardio dance 2-3 times a week through the 40th week. Scarlett was born at 41 weeks and 2 days.
Since Scarlett's birth, I've lost 15 pounds simply as a result of birthing her and shedding fluids, etc. But it is time to get serious. I'm still more or less eating like a pregnant lady -- and that helped me gain 38 pounds!
I had a c-section so I can't exercise til the six week mark but that is next week -- can't wait to get back to ym dance classes which are basically my sanity, my religion and the heart of any weight loss effort on my part.
It would be great to lose 25 pounds by the time I get back to work in January but I know I'll be going through the treacherous holidays so that may not be likely. I should probably push the goal out to March, but we'll see.
In any event, better late than never, here are my goals for September!
1) Drink 8+ glasses of water per day
2) Take Scarlett for a walk 5 days per week
3) Pre-track what you eat, silly!
How is everyone else doing this month?!
