The Irony of calories spent vs. consumed

Tuesday, November 01, 2016

Ok so today I had a Fitbit challenge with a dear friend who I know to be in better physical condition than me. When I woke up this morning she already had a jump on me & that meant I needed to move or loose. Wanting to get ahead so as to keep up as close as possible was my goal. As a result the blessing was getting a new Fitbit badge. However, it seems that even though I burned over 3,000 calories I also exceeded my caloric intake of 1,770 for the day! Sometimes it just doesn't seem ok, SO for now I want to Thank the Lord for the following: • I woke up healthy today • I am able to walk • For helping me to win a challenge I didn't expect to win • For allowing me to see, feel & reap the rewards achieved from loosing 65 lbs this past year All honor, praise & glory are His alone. It is only through His loving grace this journey has been worth living today. Amen

Hey, sometimes we get really hungry on the heavy exercise days. In spite of numbers on paper, you probably didn't truly overeat. 99% of the time we balance our intake out, over a few days time, because that's our habit. WTG on 30k!

Congratulations on your fitbit win, and on your great loss for the year. Don't punish yourself too much for exceeding your calories (a bit) on heavy workout days like that. when you burn that much, you can absorb a few extra without derailing yourself. When I swim for an hour and a half on my gym days, I don't mind if I get up in the higher area of my calorie levels, or even exceed them just a bit as long as all the choices were healthy ones. It doesn't happen often, but when it has happened, it has never had a negative impact on my progress weight-wise.
