The day was perfect for a long walk. We are so fortunate that the councils here have collaborated to develop many walking paths and that include many kilometers along the beach. DH and I went to a different section of foreshore walking paths and walked for almost 2 hours covering 7.5 kms.It was lovely. We enjoyed the conditions, views and opportunity to relax in an active way.
During the walk we saw two bearded dragon lizards, many birds and I spotted a quite long, probably 1.5 meters in length) eastern brown snake. Fortunately it was on the other side of a low but thick stone wall. These snakes are highly venomous, as are most snakes in southern Australia. The eastern brown snakes are timid and prefer to move away from people! They do a great job of keeping the mice and rat populations in check. After seeing this reptile I kept a close eye on the dune vegetation along the walking path as the protective wall only extended for a short distance!
