Extended Fast - Day 7 Review

Happy Thursday! I made it through the 7 days of my fast as of 9:30 last night, and am still feeling good. I'm pretty sure I'll make it through Saturday morning. Right now I'm at 181 hours fasting. Taking it through Saturday morning will bring it to 228 hours or so, depending on when I eat.

Dr. Fung strongly advises easing back into eating by having something small about 30 minutes before your first meal, like a handful of nuts or a very small salad. I think I'll begin with a handful of macadamia nuts, then have the crispy cheese eggs with bacon and avocado. I may also add a small serving of a keto 90 second bread topped with some butter that I've seen posted about on the Facebook group Ketogenic Success, a group I highly recommend joining. I think it's the best keto Facebook group out there!

I didn't take my fasting blood sugar reading at home this morning and sure wish I had. My first blood sugar reading today was 77, much higher than usual during this fast. Definitely not bad at all, but it was higher than usual because I ended up talking politics with a coworker and that got me seriously agitated.

In my quest to pursue better health and maintain good blood sugar control and eliminate stress from my life, I no longer follow politics, listen to political news, read about it or discuss it. I also avoid politics now because it's too divisive and is fomenting intolerance, anger and even hatred from both sides of the spectrum. I'm all about accepting people for who they are and where they are. The only qualities I use to judge people are their character and their behavior towards others. You don't have to believe what I believe, just be a good person who treats others with respect, courtesy and kindness. I don't care about religion, skin color, sexual orientation, political persuasion. We all have a right to our beliefs and while I may not agree with those beliefs, I will defend your right to have them and step in if I see injustice.

Ok, off my soapbox :P I did take a blood sugar reading right before typing this (10:30am) and it's down to 66. Stress really does drive up blood sugar!

My weight this morning was 168 pounds, down 1.2 from yesterday for a total loss of 12 pounds so far during this fast. Hopefully I don't regain too much! I'd like to stay below 170.

I blew 3 reds on my Ketonix, still in deep ketosis. Woohoo!

There are also guides to how to fast and the best way to ease into it. Get it! :D
