Monday Musings

Monday, November 07, 2016

Wow! Today has been an interesting day. First in the 5% Fall Challenge I am in our challenge this week is to spend 10 minutes a day decluttering something. So I started on my bedroom yesterday. I finished my side of the room. I got 1 large trash bag full of clothes to donate. They are too big for me now! Today, I finished decluttering DH's side of the bedroom. I went through all of his clothes today and hung up what he can still wear and going to donate the ones that are too big and still presentable to Goodwill. That man has more clothes than i do! I never thought I would see the day that happened but I have.
Today the weather was not cooperating so we had to reschedule our family pictures. We are having them taken outdoors as we want the beautiful fall colors in the background. So we are going to try again next Monday. Please pray the weather cooperates. This will be the first family pictures we have had since my 3 daughters have grown up and had families of their own. I am beyond excited for this to happen!
The rainy weather also kept me indoors so no walking today. DH needed our car for work tonight so i couldn't even go to the mall and walk. That is okay though as I have walked for the last 4 days straight and i am really sore today. But tomorrow it is back on like Donkey Kong!
I did get my eating back on track today and my exercises are already done. My kitchen is cleaned up and i have one more load of laundry to wash. I feel so accomplished. I have even started working on our 'Countdown to Christmas Calendars' and I have started gathering the pictures I want to use to make the ornaments for the grandkids. I started a couple of new traditions last year. One was the Calendar and it went over wonderfully! The other was wooden blocks that I made into ornaments with the kids pictures on them. Last year each block had one whole family on it and I made 58 of them. This year I am doing a separate block of each grandchild and will continue this as long as I am able. i want them all to have a set of ornaments when they are grown that have their pictures from birth to adulthood. Here is a picture of one of the ornaments I did last year.

I was trying to think of something to top that but i decided just continuing on doing one each year for each of the 5 grandchildren would be better than anything else I could do. Sometimes I get so competitive even against myself. i always want to do more than i did before. I have come to realize finally that sometimes less really is more. So this will make another tradition for our family. Of course, I am making a set of each for my Christmas tree as well.
Wow! I lost track of time. I started this while I was cleaning and just worked on it a bit here and there and now it is after10pm so it is time for my 30 days of Gratitude. What am I most thankful for today?

1-Nov My husband's blood sugar has come way down and was in the normal range this morning! I am also extremely grateful for the Shooting Stars team i am apart of in the Fall 5% Challenge.
2-Nov My God loves me just as I am
3-Nov I am walking again! I feel so blessed!
4-Nov My grandchildren came to spend time with me. I just love them to pieces!
5-Nov I am grateful and blessed with a loving family who come together as often as possible.
6-Nov Relaxing days with no obligations except to myself
7-Nov My bedroom is decluttered and looks almost bare.

Well that is it from me for now.
God bless you and keep you on your journey! Have a fabulous day!

Barb, what a terrific feeling, isn't it? I'm just so loving this part of the challenge. I hope to continue on and keep it part of my daily routine, as I do now for stretching and exercise. I have tried that indoor walk on here and that works for me when the weather is not so nice here.

I love the traditions. Consistency is the key to that. My sister and I have a cooking Christmas dinner tradition that we have been doing for now over 20 years. We make our nationality traditional dishes. I'm Ukrainian. These were handed down from my grandmother to my mother, and now to us. Sad thing is there is no one left after my sister or I. So I will enjoy as long as I can.

Have one terrific and blessed day. emoticon

God and family are indeed the most important thing in our lives. You are doing so much for your grandchildren, and teaching them about love in the process. emoticon
