And again . . .

Friday, April 28, 2017

I've had some starts this year, but haven't followed through. My usual barriers: stress and medical conditions. But I know I can overcome those just as others have on this site.

This has been my gear up week, paying attention to what I am eating now, identifying changes, starting to move more. I've learned before if I start with an all or nothing attitude I am just setting myself up for failure. So no self-sabotage this time.

After all of just these little things this week, I'm feel a little better. I know I can do this, and some of the things I'm restarting are things I enjoy anyway, like cooking. Made BBQ pork chops last night with a spinach and summer squash side. And my son ate the pork chop! Its helpful for my eating habits when my picky eater will eat what I'm cooking.

Tonight is seared tuna, broccoli and quinoa. My son won't eat it but I'll make him a sandwich instead.

So I'm on a new medicine that causes me to retain some water. But even if you count that in as . . . what . . 5-10 pounds. Even if you subtract that from my weight, I'm obese.

So I need to do something about that. And I will.

Yes, we all know that all or nothing will not work. I had gotten off track myself and put some weight back on.It took me some time to get back on track, but even small changes work. Eating right at meals, cutting out snacking, getting some exercise in. You can do this!

At least you know an all or nothing attitude works against you. The medication your on maybe wont be necessary when you continue to drop down in weight. Look at the positives, you've started.
