A review and a restart

Monday, December 18, 2017

This journey is a good one. I started at the end of June and have lost 25#. During that time, I have been to 2 work conferences, 4 beer fests, a trip to wine country, 11 weeks of school, a birthday, Thanksgiving, and soon to be Christmas.

My clothes fit better, my pain was almost gone, my heartburn was a memory, and I had more energy. The past few weeks I have been lax on eating. I've been pretty good, but have allowed myself to eat the holiday fixings and indulge in carbs and sweets.

While I'm pleased to say my weight hasn't really changed, my body says otherwise. My heartburn is back and I've had to eat Tums every day. I'm gassy, my feet hurt again, as do my joints and my back.

So, today, I am back on track. If ever there was a good experiment in eating, this has been it. I now know that there are certain foods - while good in the moment - make me feel lousy after I eat them.

If I weren't a nurse practitioner, I probably would be making an appointment with my provider right now to find out what was wrong with me. I know, there is a real connection between food and health. I am confident that returning to healthy fuel for my body will help me feel better.

Very insightful. It's amazing what our bodies tell us when we listen. I need to do that more often!

    Enjoy the holidays! emoticon

Well, wishing you all the best getting back on track. It's not easy, but when I'm tempted, for sure, I remember how NOT good I feel NOT eating right!
