Today is a very special day for me. Fourteen years ago I became a mom! My oldest son, Christian, turns 14 today. He has been such a wonderful blessing. After 10 years of believing we couldn't have kids, we got the most amazing news when we found out I was pregnant. God was working on our lives all along. It's always in His timing. And it's special for him since he turns 14 on the 14th. He is having some friends over Friday night for pizza and video games.
I did manage to get my workout in early this morning. I had to pick my youngest up from school yesterday around 10:30 since he had a fever. He's fine now. The rule is they have to be fever-free for 24 hours. So today I took him back in at 11. We had a fun morning. I did my DVD and then he wanted to add exercise in the morning to his routine for Lent. We did crunches, push-ups, planks, Supermans, and some arm work with weights. It was so fun! He's my little athlete. He plays soccer Spring and Fall, and does soccer camp over the summer. This winter his coach is running practices one night a week for whoever can make it in a church's gym. His playing soccer has brought me so much joy. Not only do I get to cheer my favorite player on, but I now have some wonderful friends and we have Soccer Mom nights out every month or so. I'm a big-time introvert, so this is wonderful for me. That is one thing I will surely miss if we move to NC. No news just yet on that front.
Today I managed to stay within ranges and didn't over do it with the yummy dinner I made. SparkRecipes - Slow Cooker Salsa Chicken. So good! I serve it over rice and with flour tortillas. It's one family favorite and so easy! Chicken breasts, a jar of salsa, and a can of black beans. dump it in the crock pot and let it cook all day. Shred the chicken before serving. No wonder it's the most popular recipe here on Spark.
I am trying to get back into making better choices with my food. It's so easy to just overeat at meals and snack whenever I get bored or frustrated. I'm working on it. I have been doing better. Now that I am catching the exercise bug (Please, Lord, let it stick!), I am feeling better about myself. It's amazing what a few endorphins can do!
So, for Lent I decided to do a 40 bags in 40 days declutter project and to add an afternoon or evening quiet time to my day. I really want to grow closer to Jesus, and I think spending more time in the Bible is just what I need.
Happy Valentine's Day, Sparkfriends!
