What food is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds?
James 2;14

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves. It is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast. It clearly says it is faith in God alone that saves us. We are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
We are not saved by good works, but we are saved for good works.
Conversely, we can be so eager to prove we are not saved by good works that we do none at all. We settle into our churches to hear he truth of the Gospel, but do not allow the truth to move us to compassion. We may share the Gospel message, but avoid accompanying it with acts of service.
We must articulate what we demonstrate. We must explain as we exhibit. We must tell as we show. Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
Truth and doctrine are absolutely important, but we miss the point if that truth does not move us to also love the lost God has sent us to seek.

Lord Jesus, help us remember that good deeds do not earn us salvation but rather show Your transforming power. Thank You for the gift of faith and for the good deeds You have prepared in advance for us. Amen.
