Day 693: Trying out water

Wow, what a weird weekend. My mother-in-law is in the final stages of lung cancer. We went to see her and my father-in-law on Saturday. I did great while we were there, but the brutal honesty of the situation hit me on Sunday. I felt quite depressed and then last night I binged more than I have in quite a long time. I got very upset with myself after that, but that never really does seem to help the problem, does it? So I decided today was a great day to put my money where my mouth is and actually start trying out new things like I intended with the username change!

There's this rumor going around that water apparently does great things for your body.... I have always been a very dedicated hater of water. I've tried fruit to flavor it, ice, warmth, pretty much everything anyone has thrown my way... No luck. So here's the deal - I'm going to stop whining about it and suck it up. My regular fluid intake is ridiculous. I drink between 0-8 oz. of water daily and everything else is soda pop. Today I'm trying out ONLY WATER. No whining about it. Just getting it down and going from there.

    I'm sorry about your mother-in-law. It's a horrible disease and I can totally understand your binge and depression about it.

    As for water... If you don't like it, you're probably going about it the right way but I suspect if you start drinking lots of water on a regular basis, you'll start liking it.

    I used to drink a lot of soda as well before starting my weight loss journey but now water is my favourite drink after making it a habit to drink over the past 18 years.

    Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. Such stress and anticipated grief is hard on eating plan. But I like that you are making a commitment to get your water in. That is something positive to focus on during this trying times.

    I am so sad about your mother-in-law. Forgive yourself for the eating binge from the depression that caused you. That is so understandable and would happen to most of us.

    Congrats on the water decision! No backing down. It will grow on you. Just hang in there. emoticon

    I'm so sorry about your mother in law... this is tough stuff and sometimes bingeing is just the only way, the quickest way, we can numb out...even if it's just until the last swallow of food.

    I'm glad that you have decided to make a small change. Each small change adds up to a big one.
