15 July 18 *Update*
Sunday, July 15, 2018
It's halfway through July and I thought it would be good to get my mind around my progress and my plan, and then to recommit to finish strong.
For the 5% challenge, I've lost 4 lbs so far, but I've been inconsistent with my exercise and tracking. I have gotten my minutes in, just very randomly. This week is tracking all food and especially fiber. I will get back on track tomorrow with tracking when I can meal plan a little better. It's harder when hubby is here since he likes to cook and experiment with ingredients and techniques. Tonight is grilled pork chops and peaches in a rum sauce. I do not particularly like to cook, so it's a treat when hubby takes over the kitchen.
I did make it to the new family Dr. to get established as a patient. He is very nice and has referred me to the specialists I need. I still need to get in touch with a psych Dr. for my bipolar meds and I have to get in for bloodwork this week.
I've had some success with getting up early for my quiet time. My youngest has been getting up early with me, so it's a little harder to focus. I got him some library books so maybe he'll stay in his room for a bit so I can have my quiet space.
Still unpacking, but making progress. Last weekend, hubby built some shelves in the garage so we sorted through a lot of the stuff that was filling the garage. Lots of boxes emptied.
I don't have a routine in place yet. Working on that this week.
I am learning my way around town. I can make it to the schools and home no problem. My oldest is in marching band so I've been taking him to school a few times a week. He starts band camp on the 23rd. Four days, 8am to 8pm one week. Four days, 8 am to 5 pm for week 2. My youngest is also signed up for soccer camp the week of the 23rd. His season starts mid-August.
I'm going to work on my planner this week, as well as the budget. I'm still getting used to the new bills and paycheck amount down here with Hubby's new job and the new house. So far, just tracking and trying not to spend needlessly. It's a good thing there is no Target here! Nearest one is 45 minutes away. I'm still spending some extra since we are settling into a new house and finding different things we need, but it's getting better. The first month here was pretty spendy. The next big expense will be a new computer for me. Mine decided to die last week and I've been using my son's laptop.
I've had some one-on-one time with my oldest just taking him to and from band. Good time for conversation. My daughter has ran some errands with me. My youngest likes to snuggle when no one else is around. I need to be more intentional and have special time set aside for them. Hubby and I celebrated our 25th anniversary last week. We had a wonderful dinner at the Carolina Dining Room in the Carolina Hotel. Very special and elegant. It was nice to have a quiet dinner and just enjoy each others company and the great food. I did learn I do not like goat cheese. Good thing I got it on the side of my salad. Since the kids are older we can leave them home for longer periods and have real dates. We could before, but needed a babysitter. We have found some restaurants that look promising for dates.
So progress is happening. Still lots to work on, but I'm doing it. First thing is real quiet time. Next is meal plan, planner and budget. Exercise and food tracking, lots of fiber and water. I will be more consistent with both - water aerobics starts up again this Wednesday and with a meal plan I can track better.
A few things I'm adding to my list are:
*make a family command center (calendar, cork board, dry erase board with weekly menu planner). I have some ideas pinned. I'd like it to look pretty too.
*get connected at church (new small groups start in the fall)
*be ready for family visits at the end of this month
I've got lots to focus on, but I'll take it one task at a time.
