So many different options.....

Friday, August 03, 2018

Man I am feeling lost. There are so many different options, calorie counting, low carb, low sodium, fiber count....so many more I'm not even aware of I'm sure. So then I think I've been doing great this last week, specially with all the work stress I've had and then realize...not so much. So maybe it's time to revamp? But if I wanted to switch to low carb I should watch the sodium intake too which is INSANE. If i just count calories one program says to stay at this range another stays at a completely different one. And I thought I should just calorie count and portion control right? Maybe meal plan it out too in order to stay on track....meal planning is a lot of work! I've always meal planned (kinda) but not as intense as I really should honestly. Then throw in kids getting ready for back to school, frustrations with a job that I'm not sure I want to keep but kinda need....but then think what if I'm just being overly sensitive too. And then what if I do quit and get "bored" with the decision I then made. Life is too much sometimes. But today is a new day and I'm just going to keep on plugging along doing what I know and hoping it'll work out. Why is it so much easier to gain weight then lose it?! Ugh.

I too have diet overload (as in too many to choose from). I agree with SIS, do what works for you. The biggest key I've found is consistency. It doesn't matter what "diet" I choose if I'm not consistent it doesn't work. For me what works is eating (mostly) gluten free, drinking plenty of water, eating (mostly) in the Spark People ranges (with fitness minutes factored in) and exercise 5 days a week (20 (+) minutes).

I will admit I don't always track everything and I don't always stay within range, but I do track the majority (roughly, guesstimates work for me). As for the diet find one you can live with and try it. Be consistent and see where it leads. Tweak as necessary.

As for the job. I'm in a job I don't especially love, but don't hate either. It gives us our "play" money and good health insurance. I choose to stay (even with some days I'd rather not) not because it fulfills me but because it allows me to do the things I love.

Good luck figuring it out and have great fun on your journey.

Don't over think it. Do what suits you best and keep plugging away. Remember that eating good has to be part of your life and has to work for you, not against you. Best of luck!
