Hurricane Florence is on the way.

We are about 2 hours inland and we are starting to feel the effects. The winds are stronger and it's been a steady drizzle. Just enough to make everything wet, but no real rain yet. The power has flickered a few times. The kids had early dismissal yesterday and off today and tomorrow. We'll see what next week brings.

We are being initiated into our new home - N Carolina.

I've been struggling. With stress. With depression. With the overwhelm catching up to me. I have not made good choices. I've been lazy, shopping too much, eating too much, wasting too much time on nonsense and not enough time with God.

I need a new plan - a sustainable one. I need it to be realistic, but still challenging. I know me. I make big plans and fall before I really get going. I'm going to take it in baby steps. My eating, my exercise, my homemaking, my stewardship, my faith. I have the support and encouragement from my hubby, my kiddos, my friends and family, and my Sparkfriends. And I have a God with who all things are possible.

I'm going to take this weekend, as we hunker down in the storm, to regroup. I'm going to do a brain dump - get all my thoughts, my goals, my worries, my ideas and my fears out on paper. It's time for some introspection. It's time to draw deep from the well and be covered in God's grace. Jesus is my living water. I've been thirsty too long.

Clear your head, write it down...make a plan. Include the kids..What can they take off your plate?

Kids should be doing 30 min house chores on school nights and 60 minutes on 'no school' days. Even learning to cook the family supper.

I thought of you this morning when the newscast mentioned several tornadoes in the Raleigh area. Prayed that you & your family were safe. Don't beat yourself up about what you have done or haven't done. Just believe that every day will be a little bit better than the day before and stay safe!
