31 Dec 18 *Looking Ahead*

Monday, December 31, 2018

I know, I know...another blog about goal setting.

I'm looking ahead to what I want my 2019 to look like. I have taken stock of the ups and downs of 2018 and made some goals for my new year.

Goal #1 Grow my faith
I have a few things I'm going to work on here. My plan is to get up at 4:30 am, an hour before the kids, and have quiet time where I read my Bible and devotional and take some time to journal my prayers. I want to do a few Bible studies in 2019, starting with the book of John through Good Morning Girls. I am also going to work through a spiritual disciplines course in January through My Homemaking Mentor.

Goal #2 Improve my homemaking
Also through MHM I will go through some online courses on getting systems in place, taking care of our new home (we moved to NC in 2018!), and just getting a handle on the day to day things that have just gotten away from me.
Hubby and I are going to go through Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University in 2019. We have a few small debts to take care of and then it's SAVE-SAVE-SAVE! We have 3 growing kids that have many expenses - braces, driver's ed (insurance!), school things, sports and band, and college ahead. We are going to get a handle on our money! I am even looking into applying for a part time job to help out. I've been blessed to be a stay-at-home mom since I was pregnant with my middle child 13 years ago.
I am also planning on doing some home projects - organizing different areas of the house.
I want to use my new planner daily to keep track of my progress and get things done.

Goal #3 Improve my health
This is an important one too. I want to increase my exercise to a consistent 3x week for cardio (walking or DVD's) and 2x week for strength (body weight and light weights) and stretching after each. I'll start small (10 minutes) and work my way up (30+ minutes) since I am starting from scratch (again). I got an InstantPot for Christmas so I'm looking into some healthy, family friendly recipes. I am also going to have rounds of freezer cooking prep. I want to track all my food and be consistent with my water intake. I am going to try intermittent fasting (eating all my meals within a 10-12 hour period). I am also in a program called Faithful Finish Lines that starts January 7. It is a Christian weight loss program with encouragement through FB. I will participate in a 40 day sugar fast as well. It sounds like a lot to take on at once, but I think it will make sense for me as they all work together.

Goal #4 Invest in my family
I want to make memories with my family. I want to enjoy our time together, away from electronics. I'm looking forward to more dates with Hubby now that our kids are older and can stay home on their own. I want more one-on-one time with each kiddo. I want to plan more activities like trips to the beach (we now live 2 hours from Myrtle Beach!) and movie outings. Maybe some mini-golf and go-cart racing. Fun things we can all enjoy.

My word for 2019 is *Intentional*
I want to be intentional with my faith, my marriage, my family, my home, my time and my health. All these areas deserve my attention. I am committing to make changes to move forward to my goals. I have my new planner all ready to go. Now it's time to ring in the new year with the loves of my life - my family, who is my motivation.
