Foot Pain and Pacing Myself

Friday, August 16, 2019

Well I had a great morning yesterday, but later on the continued foot pain I've been battling the last couple months flared up pretty bad. I figure a lot of the problem has to do with the fact that I'm carrying extra weight around, and that is part of what motivated me to come back to Spark People and get back on track. I can't afford to slow down for long with 6 kids in the house, work, gardening, etc. I'm still excited to be getting in my second Couch to 5k run soon, but plan to wait until Sunday to give myself two days to rest to where my feet can heal up some. I'm taking my own advice and listening to my body. I have been wearing good arch support insoles for awhile but went ahead and bought a pair of compression sock things called a "Plantar Fascia Sleeve" thinking that could help. After wearing them most of the day yesterday and also wearing them to bed, I have felt much more improved this morning than I have in quite some time actually. After reading up on Plantar Fasciitis it does sound a lot like what I've been experiencing and makes sense when learning about that tendon and its issues. I may have beginning stages of that and I'm determined to get in shape and start losing weight before it gets any worse. I'm toning down my ambitious schedule just a bit and taking longer to train so as not to overdo it. This might slow me down just a little, but I won't let anything stop me and my attitude is still positive. I got this! emoticon emoticon emoticon

After about the one week mark back on here and in the gain I have made a lot of small improvements and that is encouraging! While I haven't lost any weight just yet, I have made some good improvements in getting exercise in, starting back on my devotionals, and eating healthier over all although I haven't been too strict on myself limiting calories just yet. After my son's 14th birthday party later this evening I will have no more excuses. I'm improving a lot of areas of my life and that is exciting! If I can do it you can too! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

My husband has been dealing with the planter's fasciitis too. Our chiropractor has been treating it with ultrasound, and it seems to be helping. I told him about the sleeve. Thanks!

How do I change? If I feel depressed I will sing. If I feel sad I will laugh. If I feel ill I will double my labor. If I feel fear I will plunge ahead. If I feel inferior I will wear new garments. If I feel uncertain I will raise my voice. If I feel poverty I will think of wealth to come. If I feel incompetent I will think of past success. If I feel insignificant I will remember my goals. Today I will be the master of my emotions.
