The onerous task of packing to get ready to move begins.

As I rely on my sister and her husband to help me go shopping, etc, we have talked for a long time about my moving to be closer to them. When BIL comes to pick me up to go shopping or go to an appointment, etc, or even to go to their place to visit, it takes him about 25 minutes each way.
So while I have been slowly sorting and trying to organize things better to make such a move easier, I am far from ready. However, I have run into a problem which means I have to up the timeline.
The building I live in has an elevator. I live on the 3rd floor. In about 8 weeks, the elevator will be shut completely down for approximately 10 weeks while it is being refurbished and "modernized", whatever that means.
People who live on the first floor will not have much of a problem getting in and out of the building, but many of us on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th floor, may have difficulties. When I go grocery shopping, I take a 4-wheel cart and use that to take my parcels upstairs. But without the elevator, that will be very difficult. BIL can carry a few bags of groceries up the stairs, but he has difficulties of his own can't carry a heavy water jug. And I can't do stairs at all....
So we are going to start packing, storing many things so when moving day comes, there will not be as much to worry about. I will sort through some things that are currently in my store room and can get rid of what I no longer need. It is going to take some time, because I can't do much without having to rest often because of intense pain.
I am hoping I can find a place to move into in time. This is concerning because I live in subsidized housing and need to find housing in another subsidized building.
Wish me luck!
