Saturday Smiles

Saturday, March 14, 2020

This morning's workout was titled "Sweat Slinger"... I was looking for cardio and resistance. Well dang, I got it! And yes, there was some sweat slinging off of me. Gross. But, it's now starting on week 6 of daily exercise and I'm so happy to be sticking with it. My knees hurt constantly and I limp all the time... but I'm still moving, so that makes me happy. Buttonpopper commented that I always liked to dance & yes, to this day when Uptown Funk comes on, I have to start moving (much to my kid's dismay!). One of the workouts I was doing, Daniel the instructor says something about being thankful that we can move. And to just enjoy moving. And it is so true. I wish I enjoyed and embraced it more before I had arthritis...before I was overweight... BUT, I can still enjoy it now. And it makes me feel better. And no, still haven't stepped on the scale even though GreenieTeanie makes a good point about the scale can also be an encourager to push harder when it's not moving... One day. Right now I'm just trying to be my best me. Learning to talk kindly about myself instead of constantly complaining about myself. Drinking lots of water. And smiling. No matter how much crap is going on in our lives, we can still be filled with joy. There is always so much to be thankful about and when you're thankful, the joy comes. Focus on the positive. Give yourself a break. Be kind. And smile.

Way to go, Diane! Your 6th week of daily exercise--that is a huge accomplishment! I had to smile at the sweat-slinging image. I haven't slung sweat in ages, but you are inspiring me, my dear, to get up off my derriere, work up a sweat, and try to regain a little muscle tone.

It's because of you that I know about Uptown Funk. I've been away from US culture for a long time, but when you said a few years ago that that song was your favorite for working out, I looked it up on YouTube, watched it for the first time, and then got sort of addicted to watching it for a few weeks. It was so catchy and funny that I couldn't stop, never dancing to it like you but just sitting there transfixed by that world so different from mine. So I guess it hasn't helped me be any more fit, but I sure do like that song and video and so I'll watch it right now before I go take a nap because my class was canceled due to coronavirus issues.

I think you have the foundation of the best life long plan. Make some choices, stick with them and be kind to yourself along the way. Sounds good to me!

Wonder why it is that so many of us have trouble being kind to ourselves...
but not a whit of trouble being kind and nice and all those great things toward others...

There you go! Thanks for that this morning!

Just keep doing what you are doing. It sounds like you are doing the work. You will get on the scale when you are ready.
    Just keep dancing!

Have a great weekend! emoticon emoticon
