Summer holiday - at last
Tuesday, July 21, 2020
This is the first time ever, I have taken the school holidays off - or at least most of them. I'm having 3 weeks break now, teaching for one week in August, and then another 3 weeks before schools are back. I've found teaching online really hard and stressful and the quality of sound can be very poor at times so I'll be back to teaching from home in September. I've trialled it out with a few and it is so much better, albeit with us wearing masks, a screen between my desk and the children playing on the piano, and with a 15 mins cleaning break between each lesson. It's going to be very much dependent on how Covid goes next term. Any child or family that has symptoms must let me know and then I'll have to close down again and revert to online. Music exams are up an running again for November, and I can't prepare pupils for exams unless they have physical lessons. We'll have to see what happens.
I'm planning to spend the next 3 weeks, gardening, reading, playing the piano for fun and walking Daisy. Gyms open on 25th July so I can go back to swimming again. They're also opening the open air Lido but you have to book in to be able to swim. It should be good. I don't use the Lido much when it's really hot because the place is heaving with so many people and you can't swim properly and every inch of grass is covered with bodies sunbathing! Only 50 people allowed in the pool now, so should be good.
