what I have learned

Wednesday, August 19, 2020

good morning - yesterday morning I get this phone message from the nurse at my doctor's office. this doctor is not my regular doctor that I saw for my wellness visit. the nurse told me Dr. needs to see you asap. I immediately got weirded out. I call back the lines at the doctor's office was busy. I then get another call from a place for a colonoscopy appointment. I start to think. this is a new doctor - my doctor was actually booked up so I chose her. She is very nice but too aggressive for me. I asked for them to put the results of the lab work on my patient portal so I can look and compare it to other years. As I have aged I have learned to read my blood work. I have been monitoring for years. I chose to go to this medical office. I see my bloodwork and compare them. My blood work is all normal except for my Cholesterol. My Cholesterol is high but it has been coming down 3 years in a row. I am very pleased b/c I do not take the pharmaceuticals. I take supplements. My regular doctor knows this and recommended the ones I take. The colonoscopy is due but I told her I am not going to have any procedure during a COVID this year. I will do it next year. I have never had any problems in this area. What I learned is that I am in control of my own health. I am in charge. I will take advice or recommendations but it is my decision. I calmed down and then had a wonderful day. Send a note to my regular doctor that I am having the colonoscopy next year. She said NP. I have learned that I have control of my health. Have a good day!!!

Always worrysome with an asap call. Good for you taking supplements instead and getting your numbers down. I'm lucky to have docs that agree with that approach too.
