Life is Good!

Just over 3 years ago they moved to Seattle, WA when she was recruited by Amazon and became a mid-level director. I knew they had to wait out the 4-year contract she signed with them when Amazon paid for everything for their move. Yet, I always hoped one day they would return to New England or the eastern coast as all of their family is here. Last year when they bought a house in Seattle my hope was dashed a bit. When Steven started having health problems last year, I started telling him I wanted them back here. Just last month, when Emily's mother died, I told her how much I wanted them back here (that was my first time ever speaking my mind to her directly). She didn't respond.
We often talked about us going out to Seattle to visit, but I always reminded my son that I do not fly and would need 2 weeks time to be able to drive out there. Given that I am working on my Doctorate, I could not go this past summer. Maybe next summer I said. Yet I always reminded my son that I would rather pay for them to come home because all of their family and friends were here and they would get to see more people. Neither my father nor FIL would ever fly out there. Most of our family would not take time to go to Seattle so I really felt strongly about them coming here to visit.
Last night, it was decided that we would not have to make this choice! My son and DIL video called me to let me know they are moving back home! She has gotten approval to work remotely (as she has since the pandemic shut everything done) and will only have to go into a corporate office (Boston or NYC) every now and then. They are even looking to move back into the town I live in that Steven grew up in. To say I am happy is an understatement! I am more than happy. I am relieved. I am grateful. I am thrilled. Life really is good!
