Metformin is a blessing

I have PCOS which makes it difficult to lose weight as it basically boils down to insulin resistance. Metformin helps improves sensitivity to insulin and can therefore lower testosterone and LH and that makes it easier to lose weight and have regular cycles.
Anyway, I had run out of my metformin a while back and hadn't been able to get in to see the doctor and then after waiting for my televisit appointment we had a scheduling error. Due to that, I haven't been taking it and my weight loss has been creeping along. All my walking was still doing some good - slow loss, limited gain, but we're talking creeping along. A pound a week would be a miracle, it's meen more maybe a half-pound per week if I'm lucky. The nurse was going to ask for a bridge for me until I could get in for the appointment so I went to the store and they actually had the whole prescription already!
I started taking it again that night and I lost 2 pounds this week. I haven't had a loss that big in a week since I actually had metformin last. I still have to work out, don't get me wrong, but having my body chemistry working correctly means I can see the benefits of all this walking a lot more. Can't wait to see what I can do without my body chemistry actively working against me losing weight!
