Making a Living Quilt Out of Pandemic Days.

Wednesday, October 28, 2020

I’m fortunate to be involved in a couple of organizations I value right now. I also love to learn and like to cook. I like to play games—word games and card games. I am in touch with our four children and their families. So my Covid life is a patchwork of all the above. Plus getting outdoors for a walk or some exercise.

But some days all of these things which ordinarily leave me feeling ‘robust’ and involved, now leave me scattered as I move from virtual this and that, to the grocery store, and back again to my computer. My DH and I sometimes fit in a Gin Rummy game and that’s fun. But he’s busy with his this and that too.

I tell you, I never feel organized, even though my spark points are up to date and we have dinner on the table each night.

But the thing is, I do believe I am making a crazy quilt of a sort with my life right now. I wish it were tangible...and perhaps I need to think about that. Because I do think my life is beautiful even if it resembles a creative mess of scrap cloth at the moment. My challenge is to stitch the pieces together. Working on that!

I hear everything you're saying right here. Disorganized and yet some how fitted together.

I don't like this - but I can't really say I hate it either. More like - I am floating through it. Or sliding. Or jello wrestling through it.

There is something about the lockdown that does make it hard to be purposeful and productive in an organized fashion. Time slips away and I have done very little between breakfast and dinner. I have been kind to myself and Each morning write down only 3 to 4 things to do that day.

I was just thing today about how we would go back to our old life. So much has changed in this last year you really wonder if we will ever be the same again
I guess we just have to keep on doing what we can each day and be grateful for our loved ones. And FaceTime!
