Time to Update

Saturday, November 28, 2020

I have been intending to update my blog for quite awhile. Blogging is therapeutic as well as a tool for accountability. My eye surgery was such a blessing. In the end I only need glasses for reading. The only downside is that when I look in the mirror, I can now see all my wrinkles. LOL. At 74 you are going to have wrinkles, but they are much worse than I thought.

This Fall I participated in the 5% Challenge. I ended up gaining two pounds. I will not beat myself up about it though because during that time my husband and I vacationed in Branson and then there was Thanksgiving. My husband made something I had never had before: Grasshopper Pie. Oh, my! It was delicious.

Speaking of my husband, Ian, he has been such a support for me. He has even given up potatoes. I am doing Low Carb, so potatoes are a no no. He is such an encourager and mostly eats what I do. He does have gluten free bread and treats. Other than that, we pretty much eat the same.

I had intended to do my own challenge until the Winter Challenge begins sometime in January, but they are having a holiday challenge to cover that time, so I am excited about that.

That is about it for my update. I must say, if it weren't for the Fall Challenge, I would have probably gained more than two pounds. So, I am very thankful to be on Sparkspeople and to be able to participate in challenges that hold me accountable. Oh, did I mention that my TOPS Chapter will not be meeting before the first of the year. Maybe not even then depending on COVID and the rise of cases in our county. What a blessing we all have in Sparkspeople. You all have a blessed day. emoticon

I saw my eye doctor yesterday and she told me my cataracts are still too small to need surgery. I was happy to hear that. Glad your eye surgery was successful. Our TOPS chapter is hoping to get one weigh-in only sometime during December with the weight recorder and assistant weight recorder and only one person weighing in the room spaced out, otherwise I have no idea when we will be able to meet in person again. Our group has been doing Zoom meetings since the first of April. We have a program at every meeting and tell each other how our week has gone as well as reporting our weigh from our own scales at home as a way to keep track of our weight. None of the weights are recorded but we can encourage each other .

Glad to hear about the eye surgery. I love Branson. My grandpa owned land there. Good to hear from you and good luck with the challenges!
