January Day 13
Thursday, January 14, 2021
Last night was a doozy. (Though people in hurricane country will say that I"m a wimp for saying that!) There were high gusts of wind and rain all night. The power went out a couple of times before bed but fortunately came right back on and stayed on last night. This is important for my CPap though of course the lights themselves are off at night.
Juliet was a very scared puppy from the booms of thunder and the big gusts of wind that shook the entire house. She wanted to cuddle with me but every time there was a big noise she'd fly in terror from the bed. Then she'd creep back to my side. We didn't get to sleep until 3 am when the winds finally died down.
This morning the basement is still dry. The sump pump is working hard but still working. There are tons of small branches down all over the neighborhood but no trees down as far as I can see. I take that back, my neighbor says that half of a tree came down in her back yard.
I have been craving a decadent chocolate milk shake. Instead I "splurged" with some tuna salad. So besides the usual breakfast, lunch and snack, my supper was the aforementioned tuna salad, some salt and vinegar pop chips and some waldorf salad. My sugars went up to 197 in response. Sigh. It would have been higher if I had had that chocolate milk shake though!
I got my step goal. Today was a volunteering day and it's so easy to get my steps as I'm busy getting packages of essentials ready to give out. I also pruned the last two hydrangea bushes.
