Time to get back on the horse and start writing here again. I did not realize just how long it had been, but the last entry is a week before we moved and we moved two weeks ago tomorrow, so three weeks without writing here.

The move itself was a very long day of the movers wrapping furniture and packing the garage which I had not gotten to. Then drive to my friend's house and pick up two more pieces - one that I had purchased before closing on the new house, so couldn't have it delivered there and he agreed to store it for me and the other a hall tree that he was giving me because he could not make it fit into his new house and he knew I liked it. Finally, over to my new house and start unloading the trucks - yes, trucks, plural! And that was after I had already brought over all the art and stained glass or antique lamps and crystal, china, kitchen stuff and all our clothes.

Once we got to the house, the trucks were unloaded and I had to remember where I wanted everything - I had not made decisions on all of it and a lot of garage stuff ended up in the basement since this garage is smaller than the old one. The biggest problem the movers had was getting the smaller freezer up to the room that will be my son's kitchen and the phone booth into the house. They had to bring those both in the front door due to their size and the bricks on the front walk are badly in need of repair.

I am making a list of things that need to be fixed or purchased and trying to prioritize them since I cannot afford to have them all done at once. The front door isn't used by anyone yet, so we just put barricades up for now. I need to talk to the neighborhood historic council before I can get the front walk fixed anyway.

Next steps - unpacking and putting everything away into their proper cabinets, bookcases, etc., figuring out what art is going to be hung where, and getting the pool checked out. The pool people have been scheduled with a training session on how to use the equipment for Friday 4/16. The landscaper came this past weekend and cleaned up the yard, trimmed bushes and trees, and hauled away all the yard waste - the yard looks fantastic. The inside is still aisles of boxes in the family room as I slowly unpack.
