Sorry I've been absent quite a bit over the last few months. I've been around, just not very vocal except to cheer my friends on as much as possible.
The book business has gotten a lot busier. With just myself working it, I'm getting at least 5 to 6 boxes of books mailed out per week. That's a lot of work.
Unfortunately, it's the type of work that means a lot of sitting and scanning, researching books, looking them over before deciding if they will sell. Plus, I'm still learning a lot about advertising, how to organize so there are fewer mistakes. Our home being so small, I have issues with getting books mixed that are supposed to be going to one store mixed in with books going to a different store. That's not very professional on my part and I'm not going to pay to have them sent back to me. That can be too much. I'm still working out a system that will work for me.
My husband has been helpful by making me some heavy-duty tables in our basement to use. Two of them are finished and full already. The last he just finished a few days ago. It still needs to be put together. It's a six-foot table so it should be big enough for my needs at the moment. If we keep going the way we are we're going to need to get some heavy-duty bookshelves as well, I think. Although, I don't know where we'll put them.
Philip, my DH, and I will be leaving next Friday for Kentucky to see our son and his family. Our youngest granddaughter is there. She's 5 years old. She'll be 6 in August. Chances are we won't be able to go to see them for her birthday, and our son's birthday was March 28th, so we're looking to celebrate both of them AND our daughter-in-law as well while we're there. (I can NEVER remember when her birthday is!!) They NEED to move closer!!!
They have lots of plans, or so I've heard, for our visit. We won't be lazing around, that's for sure. From what my DH says, our son has a list of places he wants to take us while we're there. Can't say I'm not looking forward to it!
However, my weight isn't doing me any favors. Exercise for me has been strictly walking. I do have a recumbent bike downstairs but I can't take my dog down with me and I can't leave her upstairs alone. She tends to get herself into trouble without anyone watching her. "Sigh," I tell myself to just take the steps more often. The problem is how difficult it is doing so, especially when it's raining, which it has been nearly every day.
Sorry. I'm not complaining. There are many, many others in worse shape than I am in. It's better for me to keep reminding myself of that every time I start complaining. It doesn't go anywhere. It sure doesn't make me feel any better, nor anyone who has to listen to it.
My days are filled with working yes. But, I do get up and move around at least once an hour. I've got reminders set to remind me to do so all day long. It may not be much, but it's something.
I will complain about one thing, though. My Fitbit seems to not want to work properly again. It's not recording the minutes I workout at all. I'm about ready to throw it out.
I think I'm going to have to contact Fitbit to ask them what they think may be wrong with it. Not that it will do any good. I'm pretty sure the warranty has been up for a while now. And I can't afford to buy another.
Hopefully, something will come up, or I'll be able to fix this one. It's frustrating not to be able to know what my stats are daily.
My baby, Carlie, was groomed Thursday. She was looking like an overweight puppy there for a little while. Now, she looks better and I can tell she even feels better. Definitely back to a small puppy again without all of that hair. It was certainly time since it was getting harder and harder to get her to hold still for brushing to get the mats out. When her hair gets that long, the mats get worse and worse.
She's back to being the happy pup she is, and we're happy that she's happy. It's almost a shock to see her daily without all of the hair.
I've been quiet with quite a few of my friends and I want to apologize to each of you for that. It certainly hasn't been you at all. It's been entirely me. I will attempt to catch up with everyone before we leave next Friday as I'm not sure how much internet we will get while we are there. Particularly if we are in the mountains.
I'll do my very best to catch up again once home again. We're planning to be gone for a week. Not returning until April 25th.
We're very much aware of the pandemic that's still out there and will be taking the necessary precautions as always. Neither of us wishes to get sick, especially since neither of us has gotten sick from this since it started over a year ago now.
For now, enjoy the rest of your weekend. Stay safe. Sending many virtual hugs and much love.
