The SparkPeople Challenge... It is a Good Thing

Thursday, April 15, 2021

Usually when I enter a challenge, also like to participate in it as well. Makes sense eh? Write encouraging notes, maybe a blog or two. Engage with folks. I have even been known to send out a goodie to someone who is doing well.

I admit to being kind of a participatory slacker so far, in week one and two. I have good life excuses. Week one of the challenge I was caught up with being available for an urgent big surgery my wife had, (still in a rehab center post op but is ok) . Then I had some unexpected medical testing my Oncologist insisted I get done right away (all is well, and still in remission).

However, during it all, and in spite of the lack of engagement on my part, there was the Spring challenge hanging out there in a positive way. No... I didn't feel pressure or stressed. In fact.... it was a nice reminder that the challenge will urge me on to remember to make time get out there on my bike or that long walk and selecting healthy stuff at meal time. , in spite of life demands and distractions otherwise going on..

Forgoing the walk or eating unhealthy foods isn't going to help my wife through her crisis, or change my medical test results.

One can stay mindful in spite of life challenges. While I wasn't the fully engaged team member I try to be, in a way it was comforting to be reminded the challenge is there to help us.

So... things have settled a bit....and , you will likely soon be hearing from me a little more. Lucky me anyway.

Thank you Cloverleaf team and other friends.

Bill, I am sorry I am just now seeing this blog.

How has your wife's recovery been? You have good reason for your absence and the main thing is to take care of yourself and your wife.
Good o hear that you are still in remission. Thank the Lord.

    My prayers for you both.

I especially appreciate your words "One can stay mindful in spite of life challenges."
    How very true.

    Always inspirational, my friend.

Bill, glad to hear that both you and your wife are doing okay. Will keep you both in my prayers for quick healing. I think that being involved in the challenge is also a good way to stay active and try to do the best we can at staying healthy. Take good care of both of you and just do the best you can with the challenge.
