Gifts of the times, a family dinner and more!

Saturday, April 17, 2021

January 11, 2020 we had dinner in a restaurant to celebrate various milestones and declared we should do this monthly.

"Fast" forward 15 months later to DH's sisters' last evening and the 6 of us got together again for dinner. It was like no time had passed! We laughed too much, ate too much and felt normal again. Five of 6 are fully vaccinated, the last is hesitant but very socially compliant. For the most part we still elbow-bumped or fist bumped but I gave DH's sister one heck of a hug as I'd not seen her for a year.

Who knew I'd like a caeser salad pizza or that it was even a thing? Super-thin crispy crust (pre-cooked before adding toppings) as crouton, finely chopped chicken and LETTUCE! All drizzled with the infamous dressing and served cold.

Our hosts are back to holding a bi-annual yard sale of which all the proceeds go to the Cystic Fibrosis foundation. I took items to donate that I'd been hanging onto for that purpose. It's where we all laughingly compare donations and trade items! Our nephew is buying his own home so we pawed through items that maybe he'd need. My great-niece,11, squealed at my rotary phone from 1975 and claimed it as her own.

DH's sister complained about the multitude of pictures they'd amassed as they inherited the collections her and her husbands families. I'm now the proud owner of a cake-box of photographs and a framed 8x10 of DH's grandparents taken in their prime. Pictures I think my own kids haven't seen. They'll be scanned and posted in places to preserve history. My ultimate goal is to create a photo book for some of the kids. We can't lose these precious items to disrepair or lack of interest.

I'm blessed!

Add names and dates to those photos before the "who and what" are lost!
