April 21, 2021 JUST DEAL WITH IT

We have all dealt with disappointments in life. We may not get the promotion we wanted. We may have someone do us wrong. We may get turned down and turned away because we don’t have what is needed to buy something or be a part of a group. There are disappointments in life. We experience them as children and as adults. However, the good thing is that life goes on. We get past one disappointment and then another comes. Disappointment happens.

How we deal with disappointment is up to us. We all experience disappointment; however, our reaction to it is different. Some of us deal with disappointment by complaining. Others shut down and end relationships. Then there are those who understand disappointment happens and learn from it. There are those who choose to move on quickly to the next thing so they aren’t wasting time in self-pity. Those are the ones who will learn to enjoy life more and get things done.

When we have to deal with disappointment in life, we may choose to dwell in it or move past it. But we need to remember one thing no matter what we decide to do. We need to stay close to God as we deal with disappointment. God is compassionate and will help us get through it. He will teach us something and lead us in a new direction. After all, He knows the outcome of all things so seeking His help is the best way to deal with disappointment.

SCRIPTURE:
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (NIV)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write how you deal with disappointment.
2. List what God’s word says to do.
3. Know you can always count on God.
4. Go to God in all things and He will help you.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we know this world will continue to disappoint us. We know we, as humans, disappoint others. We cannot live up to the expectations of others so we disappoint them. Others cannot live up to our expectations so they disappoint us. Help us to turn to You when we are disappointed knowing You will help us and show us a new path to take. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

REMEMBER:
Psalm 34:17-19 “The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.” (NLT)

Psalm 55:22 “Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” (NLT)

Jeremiah 29:11 “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’” (NLT)

FOCUS:
Nahum 1:7 “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him,” (NIV)
