Wet, cold morning...and gray, after a dark and stormy night. Well, that's ok, because I know that the sun is up there shining bright above that gray. Wow...the one thing about doing my shopping once a month is that there is a very well stocked pantry and a lot of food to be prepped for use. And, since it is once a month I always allow myself a couple of specialty items...no ice cream or cake stuff but something that I don't eat straight up on a regular basis. There were some lovely specialty carved hams and of course I get the shredded cheese to flavor many dishes. So...after being overly cautious for a couple of months I gave in to just having a plate of ham smothered with a lovely three cheese mixture. Tasted great...lol...won't lie...and I briefly considered not tracking...lol, but now the adult in me quips "what does that solve?"....so I am tracking this morning and yes, it does impact my calorie boundary...but not horribly so. So...looking at the better alternatives for today in the gray of the morning and knowing that unlike past times this is not a challenge to throw caution to the wind and ignore my goals. I can do this...I can do life.
I am now procrastinating on getting myself to the barn...it's cold and wet out there...did I mention...lol...and afterwards I am obligated to join the workday for our city garden. The good part is that I won't be lugging a bucket up the sloped lawn to water 23 roses and dead heading will be to a minimum since that roaring storm last night will have stripped most all the full blooms and definitely the spent ones from off the branches. This is good though because the next few days the new buds brought about will be perfect for the annual tour of the gardens
This morning I tramped out to the middle pasture as Darth, the Mallard seems in exile. He was frozen and transfixed peering at the pond...on which floated a male Wood Duck. As I passed by the male took flight and his mate burst from the owl nesting box on the barn. I am amused that they have chosen this spot to raise a family but I am concerned for Darth. He is taking his evening meal with the sheep but seems to fear reclaiming his own territory. I may have to construct him a makeshift pond til they migrate.
Later I did make it to the city garden to groom my 23 roses...with wet feet and ankles. I can tolerate most discomfort for an hour though and the activity was good to get me with good, like minded people.
Midway through this rainy, colder day and I am cherry picking housework, watching/listening to Netflix and walking my first mile...not feeling the enthusiasm...lol
The phones (mobile and inline) have both been blinky all day so I was startled when the physician's office got through. I had seen my labwork which for the most part was very good. The fasting blood sugar was 100 and AC1 5.7 so we bantered a bit and I agreed to lay off the Costco dried figs. As she was suggesting I exercise...I had just completed my first mile, I informed her that I had just completed my first mile and had started on my second...which I had but not enthusiastically...so after my statement I kicked it up and finished the second mile before the news and my nap...
