Thank you so much for the helpful tips! I haven't used the nutrition tracker on here yet, but I have used one in the past (caloriecount.com) and found it extremely helpful to get a handle on my food intake.

I'm going to check out somew of those articles right now! Thanks again and Happy Sparking to you as well!

Hi Desiree,
emoticon Welcome to SparkPeople and welcome to the team.

The Nutrition Tracker is a great tool. If you're not already using it, please do so. You don't have to follow the meal plans, you can make your own, but they're a great guide for working out your carb/protein/fat ratios. The Tracker also gives you a calorie range to stick to based on your current and target weights.

Making small changes to your diet can result in big changes on the scale. Switch to wholemeal bread and pasta and brown rice. Choose lean meats, like chicken and turkey, and fish for those good oils. Try to avoid processed foods, as they are often high in fat, salt and sugar. Include beans and pulses for extra fibre and protein. Snack on fruit, a small handful of nuts, or veggie sticks and low-fat hummus. If you must have chocolate or potato chips, buy snack size chocolate bars and low-fat baked chips.

Always eat breakfast and make sure you don't go more than 3-4 hours without eating to avoid getting too hungry. Remember to drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated.

There are loads of articles here on Spark that can help you. Here are some that I've found particularly useful:

Hi everyone! My name is Desiree. I am a new mom of a beautiful 5 week old baby girl and I am desperate (and determined!) to lose every single one of the pounds I gained during my pregnancy. Being that I am BEYOND tired (Boy, is it TRUE that you don't get much sleep with a newborn!) as well as a little overwhelmed at the realization of JUST how much weight I gained (31 lbs!), I could really use some extra help getting motivated. Wish me luck on my journey to get my body back! : )
