Hi everyone. I've been on Spark People since August and just realized that this group was here, I am joining a little late but better late than never.

I was at 295 at the end of July this year when I started my new weight loss journey which involved lap band surgery.

I have a mini goal of being at 195 by August 5th which is my one year anniversary of my surgery.

Just saying hello! The thought of losing 100 lbs in a year...that would take me to my goal, so I don't even know if it's doable, but I'd love to give it a shot!

Hello emoticon ,
I am very happy to be a part of this team, I have wanted to lose 100lbs for so long but I was never motivated enough to do it. I just came out of a not so good marriage that lasted 12 years and that is when I began to eat emotionally. I finally realized that the reason why I ate so much was so I didn't have to race being rejected any longer in relationships. If I was, "FAT," nobody would want me any way.

I am a very career focused individual and I know that being obese has set me back from many job opportunities. I have just been given some additional administrative duties on my job and I know I need to lose weight in order to get the position that I have been working so hard to get.

I would like to meet some people that would be willing to help encourage me on my journey to lose 100lbs in a year and continue to live a healthly lifestyle.

Hello everyone!!

First, I have to say....good job to all who are on here. By reading this you are a part of a group that is acknowledging the need for some extreme weight loss. This isn't about that "5 lbs" that just won't leave. This is about more than just fitting into that little black dress or that great suit. This is about regaining, reclaiming the life that you want and deserve.....so, my hat is off to you.

Now....who the heck am I?!!!!

I am a 29 year old married sassy lady from Minnesota. My Hubs and I are going to be celebrating our one year wedding anniversary in February, and I want to be healthier than I am now for that. The morning after we wed, I woke up in tears, realizing that this wonderful man deserved more than I can give him right now. I want him to have a heart stopping, breath takingly beautiful wife. I want him to have a person who is hungry for life (and not the food in it life....;) I wanted to change. Now, 9 months later I am even 20 lbs heavier than I was on that wedding day and realizing that our next adventure.....parenthood....is another thing that I am hindering because of my size.

I work in health care.....have been for 10 years...giving myself to others and not focusing on myself is something that is so characteristically me. I love doting on others....taking care of them...helping them....giving to them. Over the last few years, my reasons have now been more about allowing myself to forget about me and my needs so that I can focus on others. I didn't want to see what was going on with me...how big I was, how unhappy I was (because all outward appearances point to me being happy....I'm always bubbly! :) )

Now that I have a great champion standing beside me, I am ready to tackle my greatest challenge yet....me.

I will accept any and all friends. I will gladly lend an ear, some advice, a good laugh, some good wishes and prayers and will take all that I can get too.

I'm ready to do this for me. I'm ready to prove to myself that not only am I strong enough to do this....but I'm ready to and I deserve this.

So, after all of that, a very humble hello to all. Thank you for being a part of this team....I know I will be inspired by many. Thank you, in advance.

Cheating on dieting or working out is cheating you of life. This is your life -live it!

Hello all :)
I've started tracking my foods and losing weight since the 11th of November. Early this month I came into my first weight related health problem and realized that if I were to stay this size it would not be the last. So, here I am! Nice to meet you.

Hi My name is Marion & I'm 60 years old. I still find it hard to believe that I am that age. In my mind I feel 40, but my body feels like it is 80. So I want to finally get healthy. I have been overweight all my life, so when I found SP in Sept. it was a life saver. I am glad I found this team, everyone seems so positive. My children want us all to go on a holiday next Nov. so hopefully by then I'll be 61 but look 40. Good luck to everyone.

I'm a Christian radio station manager in Abilene, KS. One month ago, I discovered Dr. Joel Fuhrman's website. I have watched many of his videos, read some of his free publications and have read Eat to Live. Now I'm reading his Eat For Health book. Thirty years ago I was a vegetarian but just avoiding meat alone does not make you healthy. I was one of those vegetarian who ate more grains than vegetables. For the past two years I've been eating low carb and that worked well for a while but doesn't seem to satisfy me any longer. Eating low carb did teach me to avoid starchy foods like breads, potatoes and pasta in order to lose weight. This nutritarian plan seems like the best for me because now I'm eating nutrient dense foods (lots of dark, green leafy vegetables)and avoiding high carb foods.

Grace and peace to you,

moonius

Hi Team!
I am new to SparkPeople. I am starting the Opifast program through Kaiser Permanente. I am currently in week one scheduled to start product 11/15/10. That date is the first day of my trek to the new , healthier me. I was put on a 7 product/day plan until my BMI drops a few points, then I will be down to the 6 products/day standard for the program I'm enrolled in. The first 15 weeks are only product, with food phased back in weeks 16 -20. The program continues with support groups for 52 additional weeks. I have tried so many different plans/diets since adolescence that the idea of full liquid meal replacement doesn't phase me at all. I am more excited about being fully mentally and emotionally invested in having a support group. That was the game changer this time around. I'm so ready I don't know whether to laugh or cry with nervous anticipation. I am ready to work hard and change my relationship with food for good.

Hey! Im Pamela...31yr old mom of three boys. I live in IL and have lots to lose. My goal is 125. Im tired of feeling tired and not being able to breathe when trying to play with my kids. My Dad is my main inspiration. He died of a heart attack at the age of 47 due to obesity. He was just under the 500 mark. He passed 6 days after my first child was born and he didnt get a chance to even see him. So I want to do everything possible to make sure Im here for my kids, and one day my grandkids. I would also love to go to a amusement park and actually be able to ride the rides. So please dont be shy! Add me as a friend...send me a message...or post on my page. I will take motivation and inspiration from anywhere I can get it!! :)

Hey everyone, my name is Carrie. I am 26 years old and I have been overweight practically my whole life. I am tired of being unhappy with myself and have decided that NOW is the time for a change. I want to have a long and happy life, and be free to do the things that my current size prevent me from doing.

Hi everyone! My name is June and I'm done feeling fat and awful. I want to get lean and healthy for me. I was on Sparks last year and thought I could do it on my own. That's not the case. I need that extra support I can't get at home. Hope to lose weight and have fun doing it.

Hi,
It's so strange to me that getting involved in the SP community causes me such anxiety. But, it's time to challenge myself, and I really like the purpose of this team. I just turned 50 and am carrying an extra 100 pounds that just outright exhaust me -- physically and emotionally. I'm scared, but I'm here.

Hello, my name is Erin. I'm 38,married(for 14 yrs on Tuesday)and the mother of two daughters ages 11 and 9. My oldest is a Girl Scout Cadette, and my youngest is a competitive dance team. They keep me on the go all the time!!
I have been struggling with my weight for about 15 years. At my heaviest I weighed 298Lbs! That was after I had my youngest daughter.
I also suffer from depression and a couple of years ago my Dr, put me on Wellbutrin(to help lose some weight) and I dropped 2 pant sizes. I know weigh 246 Lbs. I have lost 18 Lbs since March 29th.
I am currently off my medication(no medical) and have a hard time finding the energy to exercise. I walk at least 15 minutes a day, more if I have the energy. I know I have to change that!
In August we lost My FIL. He had colon cancer and handled the treatment well, but the 2 weeks following he had a hard time. I was the one that found him and I struggle with that everyday. Somedays I think about it and I'm fine and others I'm a mess. All in all, for saying I have been unmedicated for a while now, I am handling it as best as I can.
He was a big motivator in getting me to lose weight! He always said he loved me the way I was, but if I wanted to lose the weight he's support me as best as he could!
Sorry to ramble. I tend to do that occasionally! I hope to get to know you all! Have a great night!

Hi all :) My name is Stacy. I married my wonderful husband almost a year and a half ago. I've been a SAHM since then to both of our kids.

I've been seriously overweight for the last 14 years. I weighted 160 when I was 18 and started taking birth control. I was up to 230 when I got pregnate at 20 and it's been out of control every since. My high was close to 300 5 years ago. I don't know how close because I didn't weigh myself till I'd started losing and was 290. My low has been 220 and that was 3 years ago. I started out in August at 280 and I'd like to lose 106 more pounds to get to my goal weight of 160 by the end of 2011.

I have a blog at stacye13.blogspot.com/ so feel free to look me up on there.

I need as much help and support as I can get so please feel free to add me on here and/or blogspot. I really want... no I NEED to do this.

Hello everyone. I am excited that I am finally motivated enough to want to try again. My starting weight was 256lbs and I am now at 247lbs. I just turned 30 and I am looking to lose 130lbs. I want to get back to the weight I was when I got married 8 years ago. While looking at your team page I finally feel like it's not hopeless. I get very competitive so I am sure that you will see my name pop up in all of the challenges.

Hi! I am Brandi. I am 27 years old and have had an ongoing weight issue my whole life and now through a long process of self discovery and and facing a few demons that I had hidden in my closet I have discovered that I am worth this fight and that everyday is just another chance to reaffirm that choice. This I have learned is something that has to be about me and my healing process I can't keep bottling up anger because the only person that it hurts is me and that is not the person that I want to hurt because in this life I am all I have.
I just turned twenty seven and have weighed as much as 350 pounds and am currently down to two sixty two and still fighting. I am trying not to give up the food I love but I am learning portion control. And I have added many tools to help me stay on track as I fight this battle and hopefully this challenge will be just another such tool!!

My goals ~
1.) To maintain my single serving rule on all food
2.) To get on schedule as far as walking and working out
3.) Drink more water
4.) Learn how to take time for me :)
5.) to Lose 30 pounds in 90 days ( today is 5/29/13) so by end of August be down 30 pounds :)

I think I posted this in the wrong place earlier. Trying to remember how to navigate the site!

As I told Debbie, I started losing in 2002...I weighed over 430 lbs (who knows? I couldn't find a scale to weigh myself on...first official weight was 420). I found SP over a year ago. I was 320. I weighed myself this morning and I am 295.5 (although I had been down to 272 recently).

I've had a series of health issues since 2004 (pulmonary emboli, internal bleeding, cellulitis ...yadda yadda yadda) but most recently, after severe breathing issues, learned I had been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension in 2004 yet my former pulmonologist (emphasis on the word "former") had never treated me for it.

Fast forward: New doctors, new plan, yoga has taught me how to breath so much more efficiently but I am still faced w/challenges. Oxygen 24/7 and now, I am looking at the possibility of surgery to correct my situation. Whew, so much to think about!! But it's a brand new day and I am looking for support and to give support to others. Life's too awesome to not be able to participate 100%!

I'm very happy to be here!!

Hi everyone I am new to the group but this is right place to be! There are so many reason for my motivation.. be it my husband.. my mom finding out she has MS and there is a chance I could get it.. I think the reason that had the most in packed on my decision was my best friend and I are in the same boat.. we need to loose 100 and she gave me the best present.. a big kick in the pants in the right direction!!! I can't wait to look at myself in mirror and be so proud of what I have accomplished! an celebrating it with my family. Including my best friend! :) she is so much apart of the family :)

Hi! I'm Stephanie :) I'm 21 and from Alabama. My weight starting out before I lost anything was 235, and I have lost down to 209 up to the point. I had lost to 196, but I gained some back unfortunately. I am getting married next fall, and I would love nothing more than to be able to go pick out my wedding dress with confidence! I am only 5'2", so my goal weight is going to be 110-115 lbs.

I look forward to getting to know you all and kicking this weight off with you! :)

Howdy! The name's Denise, 28, living in Wisconsin. I've lost 15 pounds so far, but am hopefully going to take off another 115 in the next year and a half. I am honestly just happy with whatever weight I manage to lose - I would love to just learn how to eat healthy and be more active. I've made great strides so far!

Looking forward to getting to know y'all :)

Hi Everyone,

My name is Angie and I am determined to lose 100 lbs in a year. My start date was 8/16 and I am down around 13 lbs so far. I welcome all the support and encouragement I can get. I have not started an exercise program yet but I plan to within the next week or so.

Think highly of yourself because the world takes you at your own estimate.
