Me too--it is calming and gives me a moment to catch my breath and reflect/connect. I posted a new topic so everyone who may not know about it can find it.

Thanks Jude, the link works and I lit a candle for my mother-in-law. It is a beautiful website I hope everyone will go to it. It did give me a sense of peace and calm.

Xena, Warrior Princess,

Do you still have the light-a-candle website? I found it to be very helpful and I lost the address. Much love and many thanks, Laurie emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Dear Trudy and Tara, You both have been through SO MUCH LOSS. Both of you seem to be doing OK, considering what you have been through.I truly believe that, when the losses start piling up, they are harder to bear. I also have noticed that some years are tougher than others in the grieving process. This year has been a tough year for me, too. I don't know why it works that way.

I hope that you will come here whenever you need us.These people are so kind and loving and helpful. They got me through when I wasn't so sure I'd GET through!

Trudy, I am praying that your friend's child will live. You have been through too much already, hon.

Tara, take care and be gentle to yourself, sweetie. You, too, have had so much to bear.

With much love and many hugs to both of you, Laurie

I want to thank all of you for all the support and comfort I found here today...I had to work an afternoon today, it was a hard day but work does keep my mind on others, I am a nurses aide and have to take care of many people who really need me..and appreciate everything I do for them...but when the day is done, life has not been easy for me.
Again, thank you all for the support you have shown me today..

Trudy--I am so sorry for your loss. I'm glad you have started a journal. Are you able to access a counselor for your grief? You may want to consider that or find a local grief support group if possible to find support from others who know what you are going through.

We are here for you and feel free to stop into the ranting room and the general thread to tell us about your day.

I too lost my dad& mom 2 months apart in 2005 and my marriage a couple months later.

I had to re examine who I was and wasn't and figure out who I wanted to be. whole and complete - not depending on anyone else for my happiness.

Sparkmail me anytime.--Jude emoticon

Hi and welcome to the team. My heart goes out to all of you ladies, I know it is so difficult. My dear mother-in-law passed away just this past October and I still miss her so much. The first time I was married, it was for 20 yrs. and my mother-in-law didn't like me (actually she wouldn't have liked anyone her son married). So when I remarried 5 yrs. ago my new mother-in-law was so kind to me and we loved each other so much. I was so happy to have a mother-in-law I could have a relationship with, but alas, it was short lived.

Hi Trudy,

You are so welcome!! I did the exact same thing when my mom died, I wrote letters to her. It did help me.

What a coincidence... I lost my mom 4 years ago too! 12/27/2005. For some reason this year was harder on me than last year.

I would say this anniversary is definitely a part of why it is so hard right now. It opens up old wounds while you are still nursing the new ones. That brings the pain back and makes it seem fresh.

You hang in there! emoticon

Thank you Tara, today is a bad day..and I have started a journal, I call it a letter to Diana..I talk to her ...it helps but it is not the same...I will continue to do it though, one day at a time, I am sorry for your loss. I lost my mother four years ago this month and maybe that is another reason why I am having a difficult time. I took care of her for 16 years before she passed away, she was very ill most of the time.
Thank you so much for your comments.

Hi Trudy,

I am so soo sorry for your loss. I have not lost my best friend so I can't relate on that level... but I did lose my mom (who had MS & Cancer) and the very next day one of my best friends from high school. (We had fell out of touch though.) I know how overwhelming the grief can be when things happen back to back! The pain can seem unbearable at times, yet somehow we manage to get through one day at a time.

When my mom died I had lost about 35 lbs and she was so proud of me. After she died I gained it all back and more, and it took me years to get back on track. I have really regretted that so much over the last couple of years. I admire you for your ability to see this now and reach out for help!! That is a big step, don't overlook how important that is.

You said that Diana was so proud of you, I'm sure that she is still with you and IS proud of you just as much as ever.

Have you tried to keep a journal with your feelings in it? You need to find some sort of release on a regular basis! Don't keep it bottled up inside.

Send me a message on here anytime you want if you need to get anything off your chest! I may not have all the answers or know what to say, but I'm a good listener and will give you as much support and encouragement as I can.

Hang in there!!
Tara

My heart and prayers go out to you during this time. No matter the relation, friend, child, spouse, family member - the pain is still real and just as intense to each of us. Place your right hand on your left shoulder, your left hand on your right shoulder and squeeze. It is my long distance hug to you. If you need an ear - just let me know!

My name is Trudy, I have been on Spark People for almost two years and Have lost 80 pounds so far..
Recently, I lost my closest friend. A friend of 50 years and the only person I knew for a fact loved me unconditionally. Nothing more then that, she had a husband..I used to..but still she was my soul mate friend. We spoke daily because we lived about 100 miles apart. She never let a holiday or a birthday go by that she didn't make sure I was not alone. You see both my children lived out of state too. Diana and I both have two children. Diana and I had similar life situations that brought us closer. Our mothers and fathers passed away within months of each other...just lots of things the same.
Diana was handicapped with a disease that made all her muscles deteriate over time. Very painful disease yet she never complained about all her pain.
Then, just four months ago she went to sleep and did not wake up. Her heart. That beautiful heart...gave in to all the pain, that muscle..Succumbed to the disease and she left this earth.
I am having a very difficult time of it all. We were very close friends and my heart is broken. I am having trouble moving on. I know my friend is no longer in pain, I am really happy for that. But, I miss her so much, words can not say how much.
I came here because my loss and my grief is preventing me from moving on with my weight loss and I really need to move on with that, Diana was so proud of me and I want to make her even prouder.
Please, please help me to get through this and move on..
Also, there is one more thing..this week I found out that one of her two children has stage 3 cancer. Her only daughter is in a comma right now and they are giving her chemo and give her small odds of making it through this. My heart is broken again and again and again..my grief is over whelming.

The hardest part of any journey is the first step..and we did that when we joined Spark People...we are on our way!
