It helped me, too, to write down special memories of my husband. Then I decided that I wanted my grandchildren to know these memories forever, so it turned into a book. I'm not necessarily recommending a book, but just preserving the memories. It's some cathartic to get them on paper, too, so you don't have to carry them around in your head. I think it helps in the "moving on" procedure.

I'm so glad you have a grief group in the near future!

Best wishes and hugs!

Thank you SOOOO much for your suggestions!

I'm awaiting a grief support group that is being formed at my church... Until then, I use a LOT of online rooms...

God Bless!

I can't recommend a grief group enough. Nobody understands like people going through the same thing!
I just returned from a two day trip with 3 others I have met in grief groups. We talked about many things, and were all comfortable sharing memories and concerns. It so helps to be able to talk to people who understand.

Hi, the only advice I can give is this: We each grieve at our own pace, what is normal if there is such a thing, for me is not what will be normal for you.

Recently I have been journaling all the memories of the 38 years of marriage plus the dating years of my deceased husband. While it has brought on some crocodile tears, it has been good for me. Plus putting it all down for my kids might prove to me a good thing for them in the future. My husband has been gone about 2 1/2 years, so it has taken me some time to get to this point. I am also making a memory album for each of my kids, by kids I am referring to a daughter age 25 and son will be 21 later this month. Again, it has taken me some time to get to where I can do this, if and when you can, you might consider this.

I read a book called I am grieving as fast as I can when my husband first passed, it was very helpful. Also I went to a Grief support group held at a local church, that was also helpful, this I found online. So many things out there, you need only look.

We are here for you too. Glad you found us.

Give yourself lots of time. Quitting smoking and working on your weight are great goals. Just rememberthat your main goal right now should be to embrace the greieving process fully. Whether it means journaling, joining a grief group, or going to counseling. Explore what all this meanss to you. what do you want for yourself now? The tops group may be a good support system. All you can do is check it out.

Hi! I'm new to this group - I lost my four ppl extremely close to me this year already, a friend in Feb, a friend in Apr, my husband in June and grandfather in July.

On top of all my pain, I decided to quit smoking *been month and a half*, and now work on my weight... I'm thinking of joining our local "tops" group, but need to do some more investigating...

I've decided to start here first... any thoughts or suggestions or just a hi would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Trina
