Hi, GREATHOPE!

Did you sign up for the diabetic plan? It would divide your calories evenly throughout the day into 3 meals and 2 snacks. This helps keep your blood sugars more even. Pay attention to the numbers of carbs, proteins and fats. It will help. If you choose to use them, they also have meal plans you can follow. All of those things will help keep your diabetic status from worsening, or at least delay it.

Exercise is the other big thing. We have several links to exercise routines and information in a separate forum on the team page. Look through those and find some you like. Also, if you have access to a pool and can swim or do water aerobics, or if you can walk, any of that will help a lot. If you have trouble with knees, hips, etc., try chair exercise or chair dancing. There are a number of great DVD's for those.

Beyond that, my only advice would be participation...chats, challenges, even games. Oh! And it might help to make a page. That's a good way for us to get to know each other and build your support network quicker. Then, I could also send you the team goodie!

Now, only one more question. What is your first name? It's so much more personal to use your name when we post or spark mail you.

The main thing is....have fun! We're all on the same path!

Hugs!
Pattie

Welcome to the Team, I also am diabetic and have about 100#s to lose. About 10 years ago I was pre-diabetic and was told to lose weight which I didn't do so now I pay the price for doing what I should have done 10 years ago--lose weight and eat healthy and exercise! But, it's not too late for you to lose weight and exercise and not develop full blown diabetes. It's worth all the effort and willpower it takes as there are lots of consequences when you are diabetic.

Please join in some of the activities and Chatting with our Team mates which is at the top of the Team page is a great way to get to know other Ladies on the Team. We're all about the same age with similar goals of getting Healthier and Losing lots of weight. It's not too late to join the Winter Weight Loss Challenge and starting on Thursday there will be a new Challenge.

I highly recommend getting a copy of the book, The Spark, as it helped me understand the healthy lifestyle better and gives me more motivation every time I re-read it.

Looking forward to getting to know you and I will visit your page later on today.

Hugs,

Jill
