Hello! I'm a long time conservative who came on board looking for like-minded Sparks after last night's shameful debacle. We have a real fight coming up here in Indiana with Evan Bayh stepping down. I am also: A born again Christian, married with two grown sons, live in the country, and help my retired hubby with a big garden! emoticon

only been a member of sparkpeople for a week. Chose conservative views and care about my country, am a ten yr navy vet and Ive been a patriot all my life even if I tried out a few things and since too many dont have the sense God gave a turnip, I had to decide what was the right thing to do. Ive been watching the deterioration of this country since I was three when my own dad was a newsman on tv in the sixties, and I always loved American History and it seems it may be getting repeated if we can't fix things with decent elections process.
so, I will support the true conservatives now because if we don't keep our rights and the basics and good ethics, then I truly fear what will come next.
so I am here.
Wishing you all good efforts on your own journey to better health and better weight and can offer my support here along with comments on subjects brought up over time.

Welcome to our team, Brandon. I think that we're all feeling a little better after Tuesday's victory in Massachusetts.

Hi everyone. I've been a conservative for as long as I can remember. I've followed politics since I was around 13 or 14 and can't seem to stop.

I wouldn't call myself a typical guy..which I think doesn't really exist anyway. No one is really typical anymore. I love my wife and kids. I love working hard and doing a great job in any aspect of life. Trying to reach perfection is impossible, but attempting it is still exciting nonetheless.

While I've lost weight in the past 6-8 months, I want to continue to do it in a healthy manner. I'm glad there's a conservative group on here, where I can speak to like-minded people to help me along the way. I'm excited about my future and following the election in Massachusetts, excited about the future of my fellow citizens and country.

Looking forward to the discussions.

Hi, and welcome to our team! We get a little radical at times, ha-ha, but we have fun. We also like to vent about our favorite and least favorite politicians.

Why don't you create a Spark Page so that we can "visit" you on it and get to know you better?

Again, welcome to our team!

I am new to posting here and to this group. I love talking politics and keeping up with what's going on in the country, so I chose this group knowing I would check in regulary. I would love to lose about 30 pounds, every time I start I lose about 10-15 and then relax, gain it all back. I want to be healthier and happier and a better mom as I am raising 4 sons. I live in cincinnati, ohio.

Tim, if that Son of a Bum loses to the Deadskins, he definitely should be fired. We're up 14-0 at half, but with Dallas you never know. We always seem capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!

I too was hoping the Colts would go undefeated but if resting means another Super Bowl I am sure they will take it.

Elizabeth if Dallas loses to Washington they should fire Wade but how can you lose to a team that got pummeled by the Giants.

I'm sorry, Sharon. I love Payton Manning, and I usually root for the Colts. We were talking at Christmas dinner about the merits of resting your starters when you've already made the playoffs. I'm sure the Colts fans didn't like it. I think it's almost impossible for a team to go undefeated anymore.

Congratulations Eagle fans and Denver haters!!! At least Denver did finally show up and make the game interesting!

And now to watch my Boys! Hmmm... wonder which team will show up tonight? The fired-up, rock and rollin' Cowboys or the weak, feeble, incompetent Cowboys. We never know from week to week, LOL!

Wow, you mean Denver finally showed up and is on the field now??? emoticon We live in Denver Bronco country, so when in Rome... But DH and I are big time Dallas Cowboy fans, and our Boys are playing tonight!

Thanks for letting me know about the game. I gave up at half-time!

You're right, though, rivalries are what make sports so great! emoticon I guess I really don't have any teams I actually hate, but my teams do have rivals.

This is a good game.. 27-24 so far.

Denver sure has come back haven't they?

I know it's silly for me to feel the way I do as it isn't even the same players... Just call me a poor sport ok? lol

I know every team has it's rivals and thats what keeps us watching right?

I'm not an Eagles fan either but I will always hate the Broncos.

Remember the game where they were spitting on their hands and then tackling the Chiefs... I remember that game so well....Neil and Derrick were so mad at the mean cruel way the Broncos were playing so dirty..

Remember the game in the snow that was so dirty? My late husband served in Korea and when we played Denver and they saluted that made his so angry.

I will always hate the Broncos and the Raiders both....lol

My home office is all full of Chiefs things right down to the curtains.. I would hate to say how many figurine's and things I have in here.
even a santa dressed in a Chiefs uniform that I bring up at Christmas time. I look at Derrick's picture when I am on the computer our Defensive rookie of the year in 1989. He and Neil Smith were sure a pair weren't they?

I sure hope someday we can get a team like the ones we use to have again but I don't know.....Can hope so though can't we?

Marty was good just stubborn sometimes. I believe the Chiefs won the most or 2nd most games in the 90's. I don't know much about the new guys but maybe they can turn it around. I am looking forward to watching the Eagles beat up the Denver Donkeys tomorrow.

O I remember that game. It was a good game and I totally agree with you. We were setting here going put Rich in.... put Rich in but of course they didn't. Not too long after that they put a billboard up in KC with Number 12 on it. lol

You know Marty was a pretty good coach though wasn't he?

I don't think much of this one we have now.

I grew up a Falcons fan so I've seen some miserable teams. Having lived so long in KC I became a huge Chiefs fan too. Both teams are out of the playoffs this year but the Falcons have a brighter future. It's hard watching the Chiefs now after they were so good in the 90's. I still think the biggest moment since there last Super Bowl was in that playoff game in Jan or '98 against the Broncos, had Marty put Gannon in earlier they could have won and gone on. Oh well, there is always next year.

Tim you are so right about the KU and Mizzou games.. Very heated.. I have a divided family... some are avid Missouri fans and some avid KU fans so it does get interesting.

I heard the other day that MU is possibly going to be in the big 10 rather than the 12... I haven't heard any more about that though so guess we will see.

I also was so glad to see the game in which Cleveland wooped the lakers . I was rooting for Cleveland... I love that team.

I don't attend the games Tim as it's a couple of hours from me but I sure do watch them on tv and haven't missed one yet.
Missouri is rarely ever on TV..That's kinda sad.

Well the way my team (Chiefs) are anymore I am almost ashamed to say that is my team but maybe some day we will get our act together

The first thing they need to do is fire that coach.. ug!

I also think our "star of the future" lol quarterback sucks.. Wondering just what they saw in him to pay that much for him.

I think so many of the players get so cocky when they make the big bucks that they just don't give their all anymore.

I guess I need to get involved with college football so I can keep up with you all. lol

Welcome all new members...you've joined a team that is good for getting your body and MIND in better shape. We don't debate a lot here, because most of us think the same...conservative and concerned for our beloved country.
I, too, love sports...college basketball (go Purdue, IU, ND& Butler) pro football (Go Colts)...I usually watch all the NBA finals and a few of the games through the season...I was so happy to see Cleveland beat the Lakers yesterday...LOL

I'm like Tim, I don't really get into college basketball until later in the season - after the Super Bowl for me. DH and I are massive college football fans. Then, after the professional football season is over, we settle in and get ready for March Madness.

Merry Christmas everyone!

I know how heated that KU - MU rivalry is having lived in Kansas City for so long. It's hard to be a Mizzou fan when KU has had so much success especially if you live on the Kansas side. Do you go to the games? I never was able to go see a game but I spent a little time in Lawrence. I worked with a woman who with her husband had been to almost every KU game since the early 80's, they had a nice conversion van to follow the team. I'm sure it is only a matter of time before coach Self brings another title to KU (maybe this year).

I can relate to the "next year" thing after 7-5 this year. With Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn and LSU I don't know how our teams can go undefeated.

Sandy, I checked your page and saw it was you. I really like Beck and yeah he gets excited to the point my roommate and brother think joke that he is on drugs (they are kidding but they like messing with me). I like O'Reilly and Hannity too, I record them usually and watch the next day.

I like Glenn Beck also, but he comes on at 3:00 in our time zone while I'm still at work. I love Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, but I don't know who Gloria is. I also love Laura Ingraham.

Wouldn't the liberals just love to silence conservative radio? They keep trying but no luck yet.

Hi PERSISTENTTIM! I'm also a newbie, but I can tell this is a great team.

I see that you and I are both SEC fans but for different teams. I'm a Razorbacks fan. Arkansas, you know? The team that Georgia whips every single season??? LOL! emoticon Oh well, as we say in Arkansas, there's always NEXT year!

I'm new to the group, got an invite from DTRMNEDME. I am a registered republican but have more libertarian leanings, I am a really big fan of Glenn Beck and John Stossel.

I agree with you GLAD2BEME, this health care "reform" is terrible for our future and the congress people that took bribes to pass it should be thrown out of office. It makes me sick to think this is what my parents and grandparents fought for.

Hi! I just joined Spark People today, so I'm new to this group. I'm looking forward to reading and responding to the topics here. I'm pretty much a very conservative woman who cares deeply about her country and hates to see it going in the direction we are currently headed. I'm distressed that the so-called healthcare bill will lead us into an intolerable level of debt while ruining healthcare at the same time. I'm appalled at the behind door deals that went on to get this piece of legislation.

Hi, I'm Stef, from NJ. I am a rehabilitated liberal, back at my roots (amazing what college can do to you....) I had been doing well losing weight, until I had my antidepressant dosage raised at the same time I developed sciatica, and just gave up. I'm trying again, after slacking off for two years, to get back to being healthy.

Hi. My name is Sandy and I am from Missouri.

My DH who passed away last Dec. fought in the Korean War for our freedoms and for the beautiful country that we live in and I am so dammed fed up with this administration destroying it and I am glad to be with others that realize that too.

Thanks for this team where I can say how I feel and be with others that have a brain.

Hi! I'm an Air Force wife and practicing Libritarian. I'm a mom to a 6 year old girl and a mental health and substance abuse counselor here in New Mexico. We are getting ready to PCS to Colorado Springs where I was born and raised. We will be there by Christmas. I'm stunned at the stupidity level of our government and what has become of our wonderful country over years of abuse in Washington. Glad to see a group where ideas can be shared and commonsense appreciated! Confuse a libral, use logic and fact!

Hi everybody! I am a fed up, fired up Conservative Grandma who fears their won't be a decent country left for my grand kids. Would go totally nuts if not for Fox News and Free Republic for my news. Any other Freepers on here?

notfatcat - I,too, participated in my first protest/rally back in February. I attended by myself and without being coerced by any given group. In other words the decision was my own. That is why I have to laugh when I hear about these protests/rallies/tea parties not being grass roots! The politicians are so out of touch it is frightening!
Anyway - welcome to the team. I love having a place to get and share information to save our country.

Hello all. I just found you today. Don't know why I did look before. Glad to know there are others in SP that are also conservative.
Tomorrow I am going to participate in my first protest - ever-.
A dem congressman (Dicks) is having a town hall meeting in a town close by and the dems are only allowing 60 people in and no GOP'ers are allowed.
So, we are going to have a little protest outside the building.
I am stoked for this. Came up with some good sound bites and had a few printed for posters.
So, what an intro to me, right?
At any rate, I scanned some of your forum today to see what you are all about and I will participate.

Welcome, newcomers! Jackie, I was just in your beautiful state last week. There are just not enough adjectives in the English language to describe Alaska's beauty!!!

Hey everyone!

I'm pretty new to SparkPeople and just came across this team. It seems perfect!

I'm 18 years old and live in Anchorage, Alaska -- that's right, go Palin! emoticon

I'm starting college in two weeks at Gonzaga University and I can't wait! I really want to start living a healthier lifestyle though, especially so I don't gain the 'Freshman 15.'

Can't wait to get to know you all better!

~Jackie emoticon
