Hey everyone :)
My name is Lisa and I'm a 21 year old university student from Ontario Canada. I joined sparks people to become a healthier me. In the last 3 years (since coming to university) I've gained nearly 30 pounds. Even though I'm still a healthy weight, I've notice my energy and strength has gone down. I'm eager to meet all of you and talk about the struggles and victories we all have already and will eventually face. I'm even more eager to see us all become better versions of ourselves, the way I know we can. Good luck everyone and see you around Spark!

Wow, 11k people all joined in the same week? I'm teh butch with the buddha belly. Joined cause I'm trying to increase my overall sense of health to combat fairly severe chronic depression. Started about 18 months ago by quitting smoking, then gradually improving nutrition and exercise, and now goin full out in the hopes of adding physical vigor to my toolbox. I'm 40, staring 41 in the face and still wondering when that happened. I'm stoked that I just recently made a tricep on each arm...oooo nifty.

Hello my name is Sonya. I am looking forward to using this site to help me stay on track. I was on the fitness trail in 2010 but I allowing the craziness of my life take me off course. So this time I am doing it with the help of Spark and all the wonderful people I am sure to meet here. I will be 40 at the end of the year and I want to be 41 lbs. lighter before than. I am presently doing a cleans to get me on the right track because I have found that my cravings for sweets have gotten out of control. When I am done I look forward to using the Spark nutrition track to help me stay on course.

That's great- consider us buds! I'll add you as a friend, unless you have already done so. I'm a blondie right now, but the red was my natural colour. Actually, blah is my natural colour now, if I am to be honest. Thank goodness for those little boxes of colour.

Hey Texas Chick - we sound like were in the same boat except you have Grandchildren, I do not. Although my hubby acts like he's 10 most of the time, I don't know if that counts. emoticon

We seem to have similar goals, although we are from different countries and you possibly speak with a drawl while I use words like "eh" and say "neighbour" - but other than that ... wanna be buddies? I would love to have some buddies to laugh with, share the journey and simply make it happen.

I'm another newbie!

I found Spark through a need to add my own recipes and be able to accurately track what I eat. I was using LoseIt, which I thought was pretty good, but it was difficult to track any foods that weren't commercially made in some way or other. I decided just today to start poking around, and I've been poking most of the day, finding great information all over the place. The communities look good, too. I'm really excited to get going on my adventures in becoming more healthy.

I'm 39, and married with a 3-year-old daughter. She is my motivation to be more healthy, as I love playing with her outside, and it seems that she's going to be an athletic kid in general. I want to be there not only as her fan but also as someone she sees modeling healthy behaviors.

I've been overweight almost all my life; the last time I wore a bikini I was 5 years old. I don't really want to get into bikini-shape, but that gives you a good idea of how long I've been overweight. I have been making some changes to my lifestyle in the past few years, the most recent of which was giving up my McDonald's breakfast habit on the way to work. Now I have more money to spend on treating myself as I meet my goals. emoticon

Hi! My name is Cayla. I'm from Canada. I'm turning 50 in June, although I still think my birth certificate is lying.

After years of yo-yo-ing with my weight - I am done with dieting. I am here to figure out how I need to eat for me, my body, my age (whatever it may be) and my metabolism. I'm gonna face reality - I can eat like a lumberjack. I eat healthy, but I can eat! I love food. So I am tracking what I eat and amazingly enough - I'm not hungry. Moving my body every day. And drinking my water. Not dieting. I love how the nutrition tracker can take the focus off of calories intake and put it onto health. I find that I'm looking at it saying "Oh, I need more calcium and I have 50 calories left, how can I fix that?" Or, "I need more fiber", so I tweak what I'm eating during the day. It has totally changed my mindset. I've only been here for a few days and there was one day that I decided I should try and lower my calorie intake so that I lose weight faster. What a mistake. Instantly I was hungry. I was stressing about every thing I put in my mouth. Nope! Not going down that familiar road. I'm back to eating until I'm satisfied. Making smart choices with my food and going from there. The rest will follow eventually. It has to, it's just science.

Hi, I'm also Sara. My problem is that I don't see myself as overweight. When I look in the mirror, I see the same slightly bigger girl that I was in high school. In reality, that was almost 20 years and 75 pounds ago. I've lost 25 pounds on my own, and have been stuck at this plateau for close to 6 months, which is why I decided that I need help. My health needs this kick, and I hope to be considered a healthy weight by the time I graduate in May 2013.

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

KMW -- my suggestion is that you start with a couple of things -- like everything you eat and maybe water or something, then once you get in the habit of that, tracking a couple other things is no big deal.

Hello everyone my name is Lee. I am looking for motivational support!! I need to lose 15lbs and I just can NOT seem to get the movitvation to do so. I would have thought my tight pants would be movitvation enough...but no. Over a year ago I had reached my goal weight. But then life and bad habits kicked right back in. I am an emotional eater and I've had to deal with a lot of problems...so I ate and ate. I just joined spark and I'm hoping it will give me the help I need.

Hello! I'm Selene, I am 20 years old and a mother of a amazingly smart 15 month old, and a homeschool teacher of an awesome 9 year old. Education and child-care is my entire life, and I want to be able to teach them both to be active. This is my zillion-th attempt at loosing weight, so I'm hoping it will go better this time. I am a divorced 50, year old mother of 2. My first grandchild was born in October. I am a registered nurse and have worked night shift for the past 25 years. Even though my children are grown, I am involved with Scouting. Today is my 50th birthday. I AM going to lose 50 pounds in the next 50 weeks. I have had success with this program in the past and now is the time to start again. I first started in August 2011. I am not weighing in until tomorrow, so we will have to wait and see what damage has been done since I left. I know this program works. I tried to restart in january, but did not start from the beginning. This time I am starting from square one. Wish me luck.
