Hi, I'm April. I've been intermittently using Sparkpeople for a few years, very unsuccessfully. This is a great site and I know that if I stick with it I can achieve my goal of losing 48 pounds. (I wanted to lose 30 when I started. That's how unsuccessful I've been!) We have made a lot of changes in our lives the last 3 years and I got off track with eating right and working out. The result is 25 pounds of weight gain in 3 years and no energy. I really want to live a healthy lifestyle so I can keep up with my kids and feel pretty again.

Hi , I am Kate. I have been on and off spark people for the past 2 years. Unfortunately it has been a rough 2 years. My dad being diagnosed then passing away from cancer and my mom with a brain tumor. I work full time and have 4 kids. I get caught up in everything else going on in my life that I put myself and my diet and exercise last on the list. I turned 50 this year, and have gained another 7 pounds since the summer. I need to focus on doing this and find the strength and motivation to stay with this.

I've been a spark member for a few years. I lost 19lbs and the past few months I have maintained, but not lost anymore. I am still about 80 or more lbs overweight so this has bugged me a lot. I need to get motivated.

First Milestone: Lose the first 10 pounds
Reward: Pair of new high heels.

Second Milestone: Lose the first 25 pounds
Reward: a new exercise outfit.

Third Milestone: Get below 200 pounds.
Reward: A day of indulging myself.

After that, I will reconsider my milestones and rewards.

I've been a sparkmember for a long time but in the past 3 mos i've lost my motivation. I've done alot lost 35# going to counseling for my binge eating disorder and doing pretty well overall but i get impatient and want it yesterday. I did a half marathon and was exercising regularly til i had surgery and walking was it. then i did my half marathon and have pretty much conked out after that been trying hard to get back into exercising but th rain is out and just trying to get motivated to stay that way. SO here i am. I have at least 120# to lose. slwo and steady plus reminding it took a while to come on and will take a while to come out!

Hello! Can't wait to have the motivation and energy of everyone. I had lost 60 lbs last year through diet and exercise, but injured first my right leg, now my left knee. I can barely walk to the bathroom and cannot straighten my leg. I have gained 30 lbs back and am very discouraged. Yes I could have continued to eat right, but got depressed and can't seem to get back on track. I am now taking it slowly, will start by adding more fruits and veggies and at least I can lift weights with my arms. I will check in again tomorrow. I have to work on Christmas Day but at least I can still drive and work, right!! So things could be worse. I have my kitty cats as well. Hope to talk with everyone soon. I am 60 + years young, and my goal is to walk a mile and get my health back and be pain free so I can sleep through the night.

Working towards my goal!

Hi everyone my name is Pat and I am going to make some changes to my life in 2013. I have been working on my personal goals and looking at my values. Looking to loose some weight and get myself into shape. Pick up some motivation. I am 58, married for 39 years to my husband - he is a head and neck cancer survivor. We have one son 34 who is married and have three grandchildren the ages of 8, 4, 18 months and one on the way sometime in mid May. They live in Florida so we only see them a couple times a year since we live in Iowa. I work in sales for a lighting manufacturer.

My name is Jennie. I am 35 years old and the proud mom of 5 kids. As the sole breadwinner of the family (why do they call it breadwinner anymore anyway - couldn't it be some other kind of food not so high in the carb range?) I have very little time to spend doing things for me. I have a gym membership but find it difficult at times to get to the gym after a long day at the office. But, since losing my father unexpectedly this year, I am ready to make a change.

I hope that I can stick to this program this time...

My user name doesn't reflect how much I weigh anymore as I am now at 240+ mark. I joined SparkCoach because I really need help to stay motivated. I know how to eat healthy but somehow I find myself eating fast food. I want to take responsibility for my health and I am SICK AND TIRED of feeling unhealthy and how my body is expanding. I really like how SP is set up and I know when I stuck with the plan I did actually lose weight and felt great. Thanks for listening.

I am 41, married, no kids. Working PT at a bookstore and I have a longarm quilting business. No kids, no pets, no plants. =) I have always been overweight but this is the heaviest I've been. I've tried Weight Watchers a number of times as well as Nutrisystem and general diet plans. I am bound and determined that I will stick to this program and look forward to the help I will get from the coach.

Hi everyone.

I'm Jen and I just turned 28. I have been overweight my whole life and I'm sick of it. I just want to be a healthy weight. My weight has fluctuated greatly in the past few years. Lost 30 pounds, gained most of it back. Lost 40 pounds, gained most of it back. So, I'm starting again. This time is going to be it. I'm going to reach my goals and stick with it.

I've been a member of SparkPeople for two years, I think, but haven't been actively using it. I have used other sources before, though, like LiveStrong, Weight Watchers, and Loseit!. Joining SparkCoach to keep my motivation high. I'm on the first week of the trial right now, but next week, when I get paid, I plan on signing up for a year. I'm looking for friends on here who are looking for people to help push them when they need it and are willing to do the same. I need help sometimes to keep myself accountable.

Hi! I joined SparkCoach because I need the extra. I have been trying to "go it alone" without really participating in a team or having anyone to whom I am accountable. Isn't working. I am 55, a grandmother, remarried to a wonderful retired guy, work full-time and struggle to make time to meet my own goals in all areas. So, at the request of my children, I am starting with my health and weight.

Hello everyone, my name is Sandy. I am 53 years, have been married to my soul mate for 30 years, we have a beautiful daughter, 2 dogs, Jake and Precious, and 2 cats Betsy and Vova. I work at a university and graduated with a Master of Art in Higher Education Administration last Thursday, Dec 13.

I lost my Dad on January 29, 2012, had neck surgery on September 10, 2012, off work for six weeks and fractured my ankle on November 16, 2012 off work for four weeks. This has been a very challenging year and I am looking forward to a better year in 2013.

I have gained 20 pounds this year and am working out everyday, eating right so that I can lose this 20 pounds. I have used SparkPeople in the past and it has helped, this is my first time using the SparkCoach program. Sandy

Hi everyone. I have just joined sparkcoach as I feel that my health is not as good as it could be and a large part of that is due to my weight. For me, motivation has been an issue, and as a solo mother of five, and a full-time student, time is also a huge issue. Hopefully, through using this programme, I can turn my motivation around and find ways that healthy eating and fitness, can slot into my busy lifestyle.

Hi I'm Barb and since we have our big family celebration done, I am starting on my 2013 goals. I started it off by joining SparkCoach. SP has been a big part of my weight loss efforts and has helped me tremendously. I think SparkCoach will help me stay motivated as well to get off the weight I still need to lose.

Hi everyone! I've been doing spark coach for a while, but haven't really been on the message pages for it until now. I'd love to have some extra encouragement since motivation seems to be my biggest struggle. So far, I'm very thankful to Sparkguy for setting this up and am enjoying spark coach a lot.
My weight loss struggles started with a reaction to medication 10 years ago. Since then I've had 6 miscarriages/stillbirths, and two beautiful kids. But all this trauma has wreaked havoc on my body.
I'm continually amazed at the design of our bodies that can make it possible to even heal from these kinds of things...physically and emotionally. But I believe that God is in control and gives us the tools we need to cope with the things he allows us to go through.
One of these tools for me has been sparkpeople. I joined almost 7 years ago after my first child was born. Little did I know what the future held.
This has been a place that I can return to and be sure to find encouragement and guidance to come back to life.
I signed up for 3 months of sparkcoach (one month ago). If I stay on track that should get me to my goal by then.
I look forward to getting to know some of you during that time.

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a cast away.

Thanks to Sparkepeople I WILL get there and this time there is no getting rid of me. I AM A SPARKEPERSON FOR LIFE.

Hi everyone,
My name is Ann and I am 52 years old. I have two wonderful children, a husband, two dogs, one old cat and my mother living in a small house. Needless to say things can be stressful from time to time.

I joined SP quite a while ago but couldn't seem to stay on track. When I found out about Spark Coach it thought maybe this will be the things that helps me stay on track. So far, so good. I still slip but bounce back faster than before. I have a lot riding on my succeeding at weight loss. To make a long story short. Because of my diabetes, my liver is not happy at all. I am in Stage 3 (of 4 stages) of liver disease. My doctors says I can turn this around but only if I exercise and lose weight. So here I am Quitting is not an option. I am ready to make the changes I need to make and I know now I am worth the hard work it will take to get there. My son is only 11 yrs old. I need to be there for him and my whole family. emoticon

I joined SparkCoach to get reinforcement and encouragement and more importantly to become more accountable for my daily choices. I am looking forward to reading what everyone here has to offer and I am hoping this is a fairly active team.
I have reached a major milestone in my weight loss journey. I am officially 50 lbs lighter !!!
I also feel better than I have felt in YEARS.
GO SparkPeople!

Hi, I'm Betty. This is Day 4 for me, of the free Spark Coach, and I just signed up for the year. This looks like exactly what I need. I've tried doing SparkPeople before, but couldn't stay with it and kind of fell away. I really like the visualizations, the videos, the check-ins. And I am committed to becoming part of the community by posting here and starting to blog.

So hey everyone - nice to meet you! emoticon

Hi everyone! I'm 44, married mother of 3 (one in college, 2 at home). I really want to lose weight. I'm about 30-35 pounds overweight. I want to regain energy and health and want to maintain it for life rather than just ending back in the same position. I've been doing well at 'eating less' and need to work on the 'moving more' part. Hoping to find some motivation and inspiration.

Hello Everyone! My name is Marilyn. I am 58 yrs old and a widow. My husband died on 12/15/2010. I have not been taking care of myself and am back up to 200 lbs. I had gotten down to 190 lbs the last time I was on SparkPeople. My heart is not working very well because of Diabetes and being fat. My name is Joyce. I started SP earlier this year and was successful with the program but in the last several months have not been able to make the good habits stick. I am starting over with Fast Break goals - I wasn't successful with my fast break goals the first time but lost weight anyway. Now I understand that I missed the opportunity to learn how to set goals. That could be part of why I stalled. I didn't have the motivation and clear set of goals to keep me moving. I am looking forward to getting better at that and getting back to some of the things that helped me.

I am Rosa from England and have returned yet again after a lapse of 5 months having put back all the weight I had lost plus some. During those 5 months I would wake every morning thinking, today is going to be a fresh start, today I am going to stick with my weight and food goals like glue and every evening I have failed. Two weeks ago, I broke that cycle of failure and succeeded, one day at a time. I was ashamed of coming back to Spark while I was failing on a daily basis. Stupid, because the support I needed might have helped me break the cycle earlier. Now I have joined the SparkCoach programme and hope this is going to give me the skills and motivation to keep going, even through Christmas. I really do not want to go backwards again.

I am Amanda. I amregisrered nurse who needs some motivation toget & keep myself healthy. Trst me I knowthe rules/guide lines to living healthy, teach them to patients & families regularly.

My biggest excuses are: I don't have time. I don't have the energy/motivation. Just looking for one more way to hold myself accountable to what I know is right.

Blessings,
Amanda, RN
