Thanks so much for the tips- I agree, I think with past sites, I simply got lazy. But losing weight takes commitment, so I will do my best to log in every day!

You need to keep looking for whatever small thing works for you. When you figure something out, keep doing it while you look for the next thing that works for you. We are all working from different places, but SP has discovered what has worked for member after member. So here is my list as I see it:

1. Drink at least eight 8 ounce glasses of WATER daily. This is not a beverage. You can still have them but they don't count as water.
2. Get at least 7 - 8 hours sleep every day.
3. Track everything that goes in your mouth on the nutrition tracker.
4. Set S.M.A.R.T. goals.
5. Get active on a SP team, blog, check your friend feed, send goodies, become a virtual cheerleader for yourself and others . . .
6. Get moving, cardio and strength training and track that too.
7. Relax and accept the habits you develop are for your health for the rest of your life.

And my personal twist to goals: I couldn't deal with one goal that dealt with the total amount of weight I needed to lose. I felt it was impossible, like I was defeated before I started. So I used the tracker gizmo and found out what it thought I could lose in 2 months. And I've been doing that ever since last July, setting goals for 2 months. I always meet them, sometimes early, and then I set up the next goal.

This has been the hardest thing for me to trust in: that I must increase the amount of calories I take in when the amount of calories I burn increases. If I don't, my body holds onto the fat it has because it thinks rough, starvation times have hit. That gizmo takes care of how many calories you should eat daily if you let it know how many calories you are burning in a week. And you find that our on your Fitness Tracker.

And finally, you're already doing the best thing you can do by using the Spark Coach Program. You will learn the rationale behind the program, all the available features, and get off to a great start.

Good Luck!!

emoticon I have been on SP for a while now. eating and working out more than before but all my set backs have been due to medical issues, but at least I know I am doing the best I can even though the meds change my progress a bit

Everybody tells me that they would love to knit, but they don't have time. I look at people's lives and I can see opportunity and time for knitting all over the place. The time spent riding the bus each day? That's a pair of socks over a month. Waiting in line? Mittens. Watching TV? Hi! Well, I began on SP last fall, then stopped. It wasn't that this site wasn't doing it's part, I wasn't doing mine! The trackers help me stay focused and on track. I interact with others as much or as little as I want. Basically, you can taylor this site to work the way you need it to work. Log in every day and see what happens. If it doesn't work for you, you've lost nothing as the site is free, but I bet you'll find yourself hooked!

Hey y'all. So I've done multiple different weight loss websites like this one and they haven't worked that great for me, but I think I just need to be more focused and committed. Hoping Spark People works - I'd love any tips you guys have that worked for you :)
