Hi! My name is Natalie, I am a 37 year old stay at home mom of 3 kiddos. I am 5 ft tall and weigh about 156. Ive struggled with my weight all of my life. Before I had kids I managed to lose over 50 lbs and keep it off for a few years (I ran a ton). But since then it's been such a struggle.

I fall into a pattern of becoming obsessed with losing weight, and I start to get more and more extreme. But now I would like to find a good maintenance weight for myself that I can fairly easily maintain without having to do anything unsustainable (maybe 130s?). I guess I am trying to find a balance. I don't want weight loss to take over my life and be my sole focus, but I also don't want to "forget" that I am losing weight and start slipping back.

I am excited to be back on here, getting to know everyone, and supporting each other :).

God bless!

Hi! My name is Cassie. I used SP to lose 35 pounds about 8 years ago, but I didn't stick with the maintenance part of the plan. Now my weight has crept back up. I've been trying for about a year to do this thing on my own with no success. I came back to SP for the accountability and support.

My goal is to lose 50 pounds. I used to love going hiking. That was my happy place, but lately I'm just so tired all the time and don't really have the energy to do more than a mile. Then when I do get out there, my muscles, knees and ankles hurt so much afterwards that I lose all motivation to go again. I hope to find some accountability partners here.

Hi! I am 67 years old and need to start a life time journey. I am afraid I am following in my mother's shoes. Mom was diabetic. Passed away with acute kidney failure. I am pre-diabetic, high blood pressure, and 40 pounds over weight. With will power, motivation, and prayer I will succeed. We all can!

Hi my name is Dottie. I will be 61 in May. I am on my weight loss journey. I had lost 12.5 and managed to put 4 back on. The going is slow I have been experiencing dizzy spells and have a doctor trying to figure out just what is happening. So it's a slow go. But I am confident things will straighten out and get better.

Looking forward to meeting new friends and cheering each other on our weight loss journeys.

Hey ya'll!! 56 here...57 in June. Need to loose 70 lbs to get to my goal. I made a New Year's Resolution for 2020 to loose 50lbs that year---I DID DOUBLE!! I was sooo shocked and proud of myself...so were my doctors! Then a crazy Texas Historic Winter hit my area hard---stuck in house for 2-1/2 weeks! ouch...gained back some weight---then while gathering snow to melt for various uses I rolled my left ankle all the way over to the deck---still hurts n burns deep inside. So...some more weight went back on and now my mobility is "down-sized" even more! LOL I have Type 2 Diabetes, Type 1 Bi-Polar Disorder, and Severe PTSD. My mobility problems are my knees--both need to be replaced and my ankles...after heal surgery tendons did not re-attach on each heal...so there you have it...walking is an issue. BUT, I do not let it stop me!! I just walk slower, making sure to plant my feet correctly. No kids at home to chase after---a plus, cats as pets---a plus, no job to worry about--a plus, just the step onto ramp and one into the house---a plus....big negative---I am my disabled husband's sole care-giver.

Have I gone mad? I am afraid so, you are entirely bonkers. but I will tell you a secret all the best people are. - Cheshire Cat

Hiya! I joined two weeks ago because I put on some weight during covid, which added to the weight I was already trying to lose. I'm 44, relatively active and have about 30 pounds to lose. My first big goal is to lose 20 pounds by mid August. Little goals between that are to weigh in below 160 and then to hit the 10 pounds lost. Its tough so far but spark people has been keeping me motivated.
Not sure what else to tell you... I love doing yoga, going for walks and spending time on the elliptical. I have health issues so that can be a challenge. Hobbies are reading, knitting and cooking/baking.
It's nice to meet everyone! 😊

Hey, I am an 18 year old hoping to lose 35 pounds healthily. I'm really into baking, cooking and running. I am obsessed with a TV show called Shadowhunters. Really hoping to lose it so that I can be more confident in how I see myself and feel about my body.

**Hi**
So I been here before checking it out but never really gave it 100% until this year. I am 35 year old with kids and I am learning to put myself first and take care of myself mentally and physically. I have a few health issues that would get better with weight loss. I have a hard time sometimes with keeping motivated but I really need to change my lifestyle for the better so here is to a new year and a new me.

Hello Everyone!

What in the world was I thinking when I gave myself that name???Sexyisback01? Was it Justin Timberlake's song or just me being comedic! Well I am sexy no doubt but I've gain weight during this awful PANDEMIC!

Anyhow, I'm Dee from Tennessee with a conviction LIKE NO OTHER to get back in shape- healthier, stronger and FIERCE! I'm motivated and will do this for myself!
I've been eating right, exercising daily since November with walking/jogging mix/ Rick Bhullar's walking videos on YouTube and others videos as well! With me, I know I need variety so here I go! My goal is to get in 11,000 steps a day and I've surpassed it since November 18th, 2020. At present, I average 18,000 steps a week! And I am losing the weight and gaining confidence!

Just dropping in to say an introduction but I'm moving and grooving and ain't no stopping me now!

Hi I am Mike from Kenosha, WI. I currently am focused on losing weight for my health. I show and breed borzoi so 2020 has been a bust for getting out and exercising. Finding the more I lock down the less I want to do. So looking for a kick in the pants for self motivation.

emoticon to the team, you are right about age having something to do with it but not a lot, it is more our eating and exercise habits or lack of them I should say. I know that somedays you get out of bed & simply don't feel like doing anything but it is so important to make yourself do some king of exercise even if it is only 10 minutes. Little steps, small changes & I know it can take awhile but we must not give up & 4 lbs. in 6 weeks sounds very doable.
Best of Luck

I have been back but not back if that makes any sense. I got signed back into spark people after being gone a long time. I had to create a new account. Sucks!

But none the less I am trying to be more back than absent. I am very frustrated with the weight gain I have had this year. Not from Covid. I think the culprit is a new med I was put on and a dr that figured out a great schedule for me to remember to take all my medications once a day! Since then I have gained almost 30 lbs back that I had kept off for a year! Just got some new clothes to get started towards my new smaller size and now I am buying larger sizes again! So now I have been taken off of the one med that i believe is the culprit and put on a once a week shot. Not sure I like that either so that means i have to find support in making super healthy meals, no grains, and lower sugar or no sugar intake.

I have switched to Monk Fruit sweatener and it seems to be ok for the few things I have tried it out on. I have been using it for my tea for some time now. I finally got the nerve to make an apple pie for thanksgiving with it and it turned out pretty good! I just need to find an alternate crust to wheat crusts.

I am guessing hubby and I will be just to ourselves this Christmas holiday. Which is ok with me. If I had my druthers I would have the kids home though and my mom too. But it is what it is. Today I am going to try and get us ready to put our tree up. Small living room and three boxers though! It will be interesting. Especially with Jada the young one. She is deaf and so new things can startle and scare her.

I could go on, but you dont need a book today! LOL Thank you for letting me join the group.

I'll say hi to all, I forget if I introduced myself or not, I also am a returning member, met my goal last time, thought that was it, was I wrong. Before I gain it all back I decided to get active again now that I know it is a forever thing. I won't be leaving again. I also am recently retired, was done before Covid hit, I am so happy about that. I thought I would be more in control of my time which in true, problem is I got lazy, when I worked I had to clean, shop make appt. on my down time now all I have is down time. So it is time to restructure my life.

Welcome PUKIHI1!!

It's great that you have a goal to walk a 5k and that you are already making good progress towards that. Keep up the good work on that!

I believe SparkPeople has all the tools you need to succeed if you choose to use them. I highly recommend that you track everything you eat (good or bad) to get started. Tracking can be such an eye-opener and can really help keep you on target.

You can do it!

Hi everyone. I, too, am an oldie newbie. I have tried tracking on my own. This time I have been working on weight loss since April. I recently shifted my focus from weight loss to making healthy choices. I find the focus much better. I joined SparkPeople to hold myself accountable and look for support.

I want to WALK a 5K in 2021. I just upped my distance to .75 miles. I have been walking a month and a half now and am very proud of my progress. I have been steady, looking to create a habit.

Weight is another matter. I do well for awhile then cravings start. With the yo-yo I have lost roughly 20 pounds. (Closer to 100) Another of my goals with SparkPeople is to find healthy recipes that can replace my cravings (creamy, and cheesy, and creamy cheese, AND BREAD!) I look forward to getting to know some of you better and cheering you on.

My name is Mary, I am 29 and holding years old. I have two daughters, one of whom is trying to lose weight too. (No, we dont support each other! We sabotage each other!!!) See you on SparksPeople!

I really like your motivational message calendar notices! I may have to borrow that idea for myself. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you.

Yes, I know I can do it. I just get so darn impatient. I keep positive motivational quotes on my phone so I can remind myself what I need to do to be successful. I started setting times for them in my calendar so they pop up randomly throughout the day.

Have a great day!

Hi Missy,

I am sorry for the loss of your mother.

Since you lost 80 pounds previously (congrats on that!), you know you can do it. Just take it one day at a time as you slowing return to better nutrition and fitness routines.

Best wishes!

Hello all!

I'm new to this group and just rejoined Sparkpeople today. I had been a member many years ago and successfully lost over 80 lbs.

2020 has been horrid. I started the year with my Mother passing away in February and it hasn't gotten any better since. Luckily, I have kept my job but my husband's employment has been sporatic. His company is suffering so it depends on the week as to whether he is working.

All of these factors have led to me eating my emotions. I was already on a steady gaining track dealing with my Mother's illness and subsequent death but it really went downhill with the stress of COVID.

What made me finally say enough is enough? I went to a wedding last month and was photographed a lot. My friend sent me a link to the photos a couple days ago and I was literally sick to my stomach. I can't believe what I let happen to my body and it needs to stop.

Thanks for having me and I look forward to meeting you all.

Missy

Have a great day! Missy

Hi, all! I'm Jennifer. I've been away from SparkPeople for awhile but I'm back because I know if I will use this wonderful tool that I will lose weight. I lost over 30lbs in the past and, unfortunately, have let it creep back so here I go again.

Isn't it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet? - L.M. Montgomery

I'm another return Sparker. Lost 65lbs last time I was on. Need to lose even more this time. I know Spark works and that's why I'm back. Tracking food and exercise is the best tools for me and love the community here. Hi All!

Hi! I'm Jen, 40 married with an 8 year old daughter. I was on Spark a LONG time ago and hit close to my goal weight (over 80 lbs!). Now, years later, I am back. It's crept back on over the years and I'm starting over again. I've tried several times over the years, but came back here because I miss the community (and the tickers! I forgot about those!).

Welcome ANGELAGHATCHETT and BANRION!

Slow and steady is the way to do it. Make a small goal or two and work to complete that. Then set the next small goal, and so on. I am sure you can do it!

Hi All,
Im Jill. I am here on SparkPeople to make changes... I am going to take the gentle approach as I dont have the brain space at the moment for dramatic changes... had enough of them already this year! But, the one positive from COVID-19 is that it has given us time to reflect and realize what is important.... so I.m here for my health... slow and steady as Ive a long road ahead! Look forward to getting to know you on the way

I'm back! I took a break during the time my husband had cancer. He crossed over July 23, 2019. Since then I've been working on myself and my house. I'm ready to start over and get myself as healthy as possible even with all my health issues. To all the new members - it CAN be done. Never give up!

Hello JACRBUNCH!

Many people find themselves in the same boat with you with having gained recently. The pandemic is having all types of effects on people. Starting over here in the challenge and a commitment to working towards your goals is a great idea.

Hello everyone. I have been a member of Spark for 10 years. I started out really well and lost ten pounds. The past 4 months have seen me gain 20 pounds and forget what I know to do. So I am starting over. Now is the time fo a new beginning.

Welcome back to Sparkpeople! I also had done Sparkpeople years ago, lost some weight, but things got crazy and I let it go. Gained more weight! Now I'm back and trying to be disciplined too. Be encouraged - we're all in this together!
