Hi everyone! I'm Diana, and I'm 28 years old. It has always been hard for me to be slim, but last year I went really uphill with my weight, and now I'm falling into the obese category. This is why I aim to lose 30 kg (~70 lbs) in 2020. I also have a major life event (PhD defense) planned by this summer, and I want to look good by then.
I don't know how this website functions, but I'd really appreciate meeting people to motivate each other. Feel free to add me wherever, and best of luck to all of us in reaching our aims!

Hello. I am Deb. I have been thinking about joining a support group for awhile. I have been in a real slump and I read something that really spoke to me. I can't remember where I found it but the statement related to unhealthy eating... it isn't what I am eating it is what is eating me. I think I have some personal work to do and that has to start with me. Today is the day! I am recommitting to a healthy lifestyle. I had weight-loss surgery in January 2011 and I lost 140 pounds. I have stayed within my 10 pound range for almost 6 years now. Trust me that is a miracle because I've struggled with weight all my life. I started working with the trainer a year ago on the advice my physician to address some health issues. I took a break last May and have been tinkering around the edges ever since. That's a long break, yes? Lol. I have noticed some of my good habits slipping and I need to get back on track. I have selected five areas to work on. I am committing myself to maintaining regular self care: (1) nutritious food; (2) regular fitness; (3) taking my meds and supplements; (4) fluid intake; and (5) weekly fun ( stress management). I am not a good routine person but I need to get back at it! Maintaining a regular weight is a miracle and blessing direct from above and I need to do my part. emoticon

Hi everyone, I know I'm a little late. emoticon I joined SP on 12/31/15 around the same time as all of you but I never signed up with this team. I am really looking for friends who have hung in there the whole 5 months now. It seems the longer you go the slower the weight loss, so I do not want to get discouraged. I am 50 years old and I've been married 31 years this month. I am a grandma to 3 beautiful grandchildren. They are my biggest reason for losing the weight. I want to be able to keep up with them from morning until night. I'm not sure how low in my weight I will be able to get to so I just am saying I want to lose 105 pounds total but I may not make it that low and that is okay. So far I have lost 45 pounds in 5 months. Is anyone on the Spark people diet? I just joined that too. I would love to hear success stories if you have been using it! Thank you so much!

Hi folks. This is my second time around the block. In 2010 I joined SP and was very successful reaching my goal in a few short months. I was dedicated and determined and I made it happen. I worked part time so had the time to invest. One year later my daughter started school, I was working more and had to change my routine. I lost my ambition!! I gave up SP and gained every pound back. I am ready to get back at it but am scared as I don't have the drive that I did before but know I need to make changes in my life. Real change!!! I started on January 1st again so thought if I joined the group interacting with some newbies may help get me excited about achieving some new goals. Looking forward to seeing what I can do in the next 2 weeks.
Wish me luck. emoticon

Hi Dottie

I'm glad to hear your son is improving. And GREAT job getting down to 178 and maintaining. I can understand how easy it is to get wrapped up in SP - and not get anything else done. I've done the same before. Have you downloaded the Sparkpeople ap to your smart phone (if you have one)? I did and it has helped me TREMENDOUSLY step away from my computer and do more productive things.

Welcome to the group!

Even a tiny success is a good success. Never give up!

emoticon Hi yall! I scrolled through and couldn't find my post, so I'm resending. Just a brief intro, as I can share more later. I am 51yo. My weight has been an issue all of my life. But I gained most of it when my husband and I started our family. I'm a mom of 5 (3 young adults, 2 older teens). I had joined SP years ago, but had to stop because I spent too much time with folks here and not getting things done around my home. Well, last year I was 205 lbs., which was my heaviest and lost down to 178 in 4 mos. I decided to take a break and work at maintaining my weight. I was missing one KEY ingredient of success. I had no support, no encouragement. Then, the end of Sept. my youngest was in a terrible car accident. This was hard on us all. But he's doing better, and I'm slowly getting my life back on track. This time I'd like to find some kind folks who would be willing to encourage me along my journey. I also feel blessed to encourage others along their way too. Together, as a team, we can encourage each other to reach and/or maintain our goals. emoticon

Hiya everyone! My name is Marshanay, and Iím 22 years old. Last year around March/June I came in weighing about 210 pounds from an original 246 pounds. I actually felt amazing, but I didnít make any permanent changes after off that plan to lose the rest of the weight. In the end, I knew I wasnít doing anything to keep the weight off either, and gained all that weight back plus more. Iím the heaviest Iíve ever been and will ever be now at 265 pounds.

So, thatís why Iíve joined SparkPeople and think itís the greatest choice Iíve ever made! I plan to lose 60+ pounds by the end of 2016, and my real goal is to be at least 160 and see what happens from there. Reading everyoneís posts is really inspiring me to do the best I can, remember the mistakes I made, and improve this time around. Itís awesome meeting all of you, and Iím sure we all can do the best we absolutely can to reach our goals.

Hello everyone, emoticon

My name is Nadja, Iím 38, married and have three beautiful children.
Iíve been overweight most of my adult life, but only recently I started to feel the impact this all has on my well-being. Iím unfit and I can feel it.
Iíve tried SparkPeople several times before, but always gave up. Now I feel Iím finally in the right place.
Iím a big procrastinator and need to be more organised. Iím hoping this website will help and after looking around the site I feel already more in control.
I need to lose about 25 kilos to get into the healthy weight range.
Please feel free to add me as a friend. The more the merrier!

Hi All, I"m ML and originally started on SP on 1/1/09 with 80 lbs to lose. Over about 18 months I lost 50 but then life got in the way and I've regained 30 of that. I'm happy I'm still down the 20 but I need to lose these 60 extra pounds and keep them off. I like the excitement of a new team with a new year and hope that I can make some connections with other people that are in a similar place ... over 50 with 50-75 lbs to lose. I also have two kiddos; my daughter turns 13 in a week and son turns 14 next month.

And the one thing I know as the most important thing to do to truly lose the weight ... LOG YOUR FOOD!! emoticon

Happy New Year!

My name is Sharon. I am not new-new to spark people but I have been away from it for so long I wanted to join this group so I could talk with other enthusiastic sparkers and gain support and community on this journey.

On Nov 4, I changed my eating habits to a mostly whole foods plant based diet after watching " forks over knives" on Netflix. I started at 284. I have lost 24 pounds but I would like to lose another 96 pounds. I also started doing a 100km challenge every month.

If there is anyone who has similar weight loss goals or method of achieving them please message me and we could become support buddies! Encourage each other along the way and have someone to talk to about the struggles and triumphs!

emoticon

Have a great day! Sharon

Hello team! emoticon

I am 24 and live in the large state of Wyoming. I weigh close to 360 lbs and want to get closed to 120-150 lbs. I have tried diets and other food trackers like weight watcher but haven't had any luck. My father mentioned he used sparkpeople and enjoyed it. Plus it worked.

My hobbies are cosplaying and trying new fashions. Right now I am getting into a fashion called Lolita and Decora. Both are Japanese street fashions that are just fun and cute and interesting. I enjoy Cosplaying because of the community and just spending time with people of the same interest.

I am planning to attend Johnson and Whales University to be chef. I really enjoy cooking and experimenting. Thankfully my friends are willing to try everything and let me know what they think. It is kind of hard to cook for just one person. My favorite foods to make are Japanese inspired dishes and most of them I get from Ochikaron on youtube. she makes great meals and snacks that are perfect for singles or small families.

My favorite work outs are kettle bells, pickle ball, tennis, walking with friends, and learning new dance routines. I haven't been dancing lately but really look forward to practicing again.

I look forward to getting to know my team and find some great friends to for a support base.

Hi. My name is Linda and I'm 48 yrs old. I had gotten down to my goal 6.5 yrs ago when I got married for the second time. Have since been steadily gaining every year until I am right back where I started. I've lost both of my biological parents in the last 4 yrs, my husband had a heart attack and quadruple bypass, and now my adopted Dad is dying from pancreatic cancer. Obesity runs in my family on both sides and I have begun to go through menopause. I really need the support and to be challenged by others to not give up and to reach my goals. I am looking forward to being a part of this team !

Hi, Iím Tina and Iím here because Iím ready to make some changes in my life. A couple weeks ago I went to see my doctor due to feeling totally burned out from work and school. I had been feeling depressed and anxious for a while and pounds kept piling on.
My main goal is to focus more on myself and by that I mean living a more balanced and healthier life. I do hope Sparkpeople will be able to help me on this journey and that I will meet new friends along the way.

Hi all I am Mindi. Gained 75 pounds over 4 years leaving me depressed, feeling hopeless fat and ugly. Since hitting that 40+ age mark weight loss has proved difficult. Not to mention multiple life changing events (2 divorces, several moves the last one across the country) much more Not going into...

Anyway, on Jan 1 got on scale and saw 200 even this was an eye opener so vowed to make changes. I downloaded Spark so and has religiously been logging EVERYTHING Put in my mouth. It's been a struggle because I binge when depressed ( obviously). But since getting so have been making better choices.

So has given me some accountability but would love friends to help!

Your post made me smile and want to take a deep breath and nod in agreement at the same time. I have less to loose but I've had a really rough past 3 years . It's kinda humbling when you realize the walk up the stairs to the indoor track you are going to workout on just gave you a workout!! :-0 It also gives you a good idea of where to start setting your goals in my opinion. Want to join me in some smaller goals? How about first concentrating on loosing the first 5% of your body weight? IF walking out to the mailbox is difficult , start there and do it everyday, then up to the stopsign. You can do this!!!

Hello! My name is BattleofEndor.

I recently went to see a fantastic sci-fi movie with droids and lasers, and star ships, and I realized that if a space landed at my feet to sweep me away for an adventure on a far-off planet, I wouldn't make it up the ship's on ramp. I'm not the sort of person who has adventures. I'm the sort of person who stays at home and watches other people have them.

That realization hit my hard, and I knew something had to change, which is what led me here, to SparkPeople.

I'm 30, single, and the heaviest I have ever been in my entire life. I need to lose 100 pounds to get down to a reasonable weight, and I've set the goal of doing it in eighteen months - by the time the next Star Wars movie comes out.

It sounds like a lot of us have similar goals. I'm glad I'm not only one with 100+ pounds to lose in the next year. I was worried I'd be starting this adventure alone, or that this up-hill space battle would be a solo adventure, and not of the Han variety.

May the Force Be With You!

Hi my name is Charlene and I am a new mom to a 2 and a half month baby boy! I am not new to this website and I have managed to lose weight in the past with a lot of commitment. Unfortunately, I have fallen off the wagon and with the pregnancy and all I gained 20kgs. So it is time for me to get healthy again for my baby boy and for having any upcoming healthy pregnancies. I have used SparkPeople before so I am familiar with the site. I just need to start following a plan that will see real results.
My Name is Marilyn. I am 61 years old. I am single. My husband died in December of 2010. My oldest son died in March 2014. I have 3 adult children and 7 grandchildren. I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2006 when I had a heart attack. The tiny capillaries that feed the heart are blocked so unable to do surgery. I have an implantable defibrillator in my chest just in case I have another heart attack. I just say the cardiologist and he is pleased that we have finally got my medications doing what they are supposed to do to help me avoid complications from different issues I have had. My goal is to start getting the exercise I need to get stronger and to start eating a heart healthy diet. I don't have anyone to hold me accountable and that is what I really need.

I started earlier this year with eating healthier and exercising more and I lost 25-30lbs and kept it off. It's huge for me since I have type 1 diabetes and hypothyroidism working against the whole weight loss emoticon
I'm hoping in this new year I will continue to lose weight and hopefully reach my goal weight in 2016 (SP gave me an estimation of November 2nd!) emoticon
I look forward to getting to know fellow team members and using this site daily.

Feel free to add me as a friend :) Can never have too many weight loss/health buddies emoticon

Hi everyone!

My name is Kayla. I've got a few pounds I could stand to shed, but I'm trying to focus on building healthy habits in the new year. I have a very stressful yet sedentary job and it takes a real toll on me physically and mentally. My husband and I would like to start a family soon, so I want to start taking great care of myself now- before pregnancy and motherhood.

Please feel free to friend me. I hope to start some blog posts soon.

Hi, I'm Michelle, I belonged to SP before, but decided to make a fresh start for 2016. I've struggled with my weight most of my life, but I'm tired of fighting an uphill battle. Hope the tools here will help me finally reach my goals.

Hello all!

My name is Emilie. I'm a 30 year old law student, and have been with my partner for nearly 3 years now. He went through his own weight loss journey and lost over 100lbs a few years ago. I unfortunately have only gained weight since we met. So I decided that this is my time, and I'm going to get back to a healthy weight and really enjoy my life. I have about 75 pounds to lose to get me back into a healthy weight for my height, and I am ready to tackle it!

Good morning,

My name is Cindy. I have been married for 25+ years and have two grown children. My younger daughter graduated from college this last spring. I have finally reached the point in my life where I feel like I have time to make "me" a priority. So - my goal is to lose the 100 ish pounds I have needed to lose for years, take time to exercise, and take time to do things I have always planned to do in my free time. Crafting and scrapbooking are among those things ... As well as purging years of stuff that has collected in my house from all of the activities I did with my girls growing up. 2016 is going to be the year for "me"! This my goal is to be " fit by fifty". Which will happen in the fall of 2017. I am excited to begin this journey with more time and optimism than I have had in the past. Thanks for all the support and encouragement!

Hello to all. My name is Becky. I have hit my all time highest weight!!! Have spent my years not only getting heavier but tending to everyones need's and desires and wishes but my own. Not meaning to sound rude but its time I tended to me first. There are so many things I love doing and can't now because of my current weight. I refuse to just accept this and let life pass me by or be taken from me cause of my current health state.

So I looked on yahoo for diet programs and found this one. Loved that it had so many resources and heard positive comments about the community too so I joined and am not waiting until January first to get started!!

Look forward to getting to know all of you better as we travel along toward our goals.

hugs
Becky

Hi everyone! My real name is Crissy. I'm 30 years old, married for 11 years and have 2 children (10 year old son and 2 year old daughter). I found Sparkpeople on Google and decided to join when I saw all of the many resources and that it was all here to use for free. I'm right now weighing in at my heaviest (200 lbs.) and am looking to lose 85 lbs which would put me at 115 lbs. which is right in the middle of a healthy BMI for my height. I can't wait to meet you all and to watch you succeed on this new journey of ours!

Hi. My name is Sue. I am 52 years old, married for 28 years and have a 22 year old daughter who is a senior in college. I belonged to SP about 5 years ago and decided to come back after being the heaviest I have ever been. My mom recently passed away and I look back on her life and see how she became more sedentary as she got older and I want to use her death as motivation to become healthier. Looking forward to meeting new friends on the journey to health and wellness.

Hi,
My name is Melissa. I am 50 years old and the heaviest I have ever been at 260 lbs. My goal is to lose about 80 pounds. I have a sedentary job, and a list of food allergies as long as your arm, not to mention that when I exercise, I tend to breakout in hives so badly I need to use an epi pen.
I'm hoping with the support of spark people I will have more success than on my own. Thinking positive and embarking on a new journey!

Hello and welcome Jeannette,

On my walk route there is a sports store with a changing billboard...I like the messages...
Yesterday it said, "Start where you are, use what you have and do what you can"

Every aspect of your life can be empowered by mindful eating.
I checked out your sparkpage and like your style and attitude.

Please feel free to ask questions on this journey, I will be checking in on this team often.
I wish you wellness, joy and success.

Hello! My name is Jeannette, I'm 45 years old, and weigh about 400 pounds.

My biggest battles are depression and anxiety - which impact every aspect of my life. I am learning to work with these burdens, moving forward towards my goals despite them. It isn't always easy but other do this every day, and so can I.

I'm here mostly to find other people on a similar journey, to get and give support, and to have a place that grounds me in my weight-loss and exercise goals.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.
