Greetings Ladies! I'm a 40 year old mom to four daughters (20, 18, 14, and 13). We have five cats, two dogs, and a crazy bird, so we have 14 living creatures in our home. My husband is active duty military, but he's on shore duty and is going to school full time to get his RN (he graduates in June). I work part-time as a substitute teacher. The days tend to get really crazy and I tend to deal with it with senseless snacking and beer! I really like my beer, but I have been working on cutting back and only drink once or twice a week now (my husband and I split a six pack). I'm looking forward to no longer being the fat girl!

Hi everyone!

Back and at it again. So I was a sparker about a year and a half ago then kind of fell off. I was making great progress doing my own thing and never really gave SP a real shot. Fast forward and to today and I have gained back 80% of what I lost. So I am giving it another go with a different mindset. I want to try and use this site and program for all that I can. Lots of big things coming up (four weddings and I'm in one all this summer, and a trip to costa rica next fall) it's time to quit making excuses and start making changes.

Thanks in advance! emoticon

Hello everyone.. I'm back.. again.. looking through this thread, I see several people who are back and at it again. I had lost some weight.. as usual, got comfy, gained it back, then lost again.. this time I got pregnant. I now have an absolutely gorgeous 2 year old daughter. I really can't keep living like this. I need to set a good example for her. My biggest fear is to see her struggle with her weight like I do. I want her to love herself and her body and have confidence. I don't need her to be skinny.. just healthy.. But first, I think I need to be healthy too. I started on Atkins this time because I was successful with it before. My boyfriend (my child's father) and I started it together. He's not nearly as fat as I am.. he just has a belly that annoys him.

I'm a registered nurse and I weight 366 pounds now.. yep.. and I work 12 hour night shifts on my feet all night long.. some nights when I get home the pain in my legs, back and feet is enough to make me cry.. but there is no way the people I work with will ever see me be lazy.. and then associate me with being fat and lazy.. isn't being fat enough of an embarrassment? Sometimes we get patients in and when we see (even when I see) a patient coming up weighing in at 300 pounds or more I get annoyed because usually this means we are going to have to hoist this person around because they won't be able to move around on their own. Sometimes I think "am I just a bone break away from becoming bedridden for the rest of my life and having to have people wipe my bottom and clean under my massive belly and breasts??" But then I take lunch...eat a hamburger, fries and a cookie and wash it down with a regular cola.. ugh!! Pure craziness.. I have to put a stop to this.

I'm interested in possibly starting video blogs.. we shall see. lol. I think it will be interesting. I just started Atkins on Feb 24th.. I'm only weighing myself on the weekends at work because I just work Saturday and sunday nights so I can be home with my daughter during the week.

Well, I just wrote a novel. lol.. saying hi.. add me a spark friend if you have a lot to lose and want to motivate each other!

Be the change you wish to see in the world. -Ghandhi

Hello All,

My name is Danielle. I've been a long time sparker and can't believe that I've never discovered this team before! It seems like a great place to be and I can't wait to get to know everyone. I've joined one of the challenges, which will hopefully be the motivation I need to keep pushing!

My first round on the site, I was able to lose 50 pounds... 2 kids later... and I'm back!

My goal for 2014 is positivity! I've committed to find the positive in each day!

Good day everyone! a few of you welcomed me before getting a chance to introduce myself - thank you!

I am a 39 mom of 3 boys - ages 4.5, 8 & 9 years old. I work part time while my boys are in school. I have been an avid runner for 14 years now and have yo-yo'd with my weight since I was 18. I finally got to a healthy weight at 27 - kept the weight off with regular running for 2 years. Then.... we started our family. I have never been back to my healthy weight - 3 kids later. I can't blame the weight on my kids as my baby is 4.5 years old now. I will turn 40 next January. I just can't see myself continuing on this rollercoaster.

I have about 35lbs to lose to get to my goal - that is my before kids weight. I will be happy with a 20lb loss, but ultimately, I would be happier with 35lbs.

Almost forgot to mention I live in Alberta, Canada! It is cold this week -30 degrees. Not usually this cold and we are so close to Spring.

Hello! I am new to the team.

My big goal is to lose 170 pounds by end of September of 2015.
I plan on having smaller goals and rewards to help keep me on my journey of life changes.
I try to be realistic as possible and positive as possible and I try to be motivational since I think I get most happiness from helping others.

My reward for meeting my weight loss goal is getting a cute girly cosplay and start to attend our local Anime convention again.

Hi, lovely ladiess,

I'm back.........AGAIN. I've been a sparker for three years now. (And every year I join this team, close my spark people account, and then open it again................ only to lurk. Insane, isn't it?) Every year I promise myself that I'll be healthy, happy, and lose the weight. And every year I get lazy, give up on myself, fail, and then feel disappointed in myself. This year WILL be different: because I will be there to hold myself accountable.. and I will be there with you..

I'm a usually very private person, but I will do my best to open up to the support you all have to give. We can do it!

Hi Team! I'm new and bubbling over with excitement. Am so glad I finally reached the decision to put the French Fries away and face the veggies! Now that the smoothies are here I actually quite like them. Just call me "Enough," because that is exactly who and what I am right now.

So, I just made my SP account. I set up nutrition ranges, exercise plans, and joined some teams (like this awesome one lol). I've gone through the Getting Started stuff, and made up my mind to start small this time. I've tried losing weight many many many times. In fact, I've lost a lot. Problem is, life gets in the way, and I have an all-or-nothing mentality. So I can't go full-out and just say to h*** with it instead.

This time, I'm focused on little things. Baby steps, right?

Hi girls! I am new to the team, but not to Spark. I joined Spark about a year and a half ago, but found that I was better at gaining than losing weight. I decided to break out on my own and continued gaining, to the tune of about 18 more pounds. My story, of losing 80lbs and now having gained more than half of it back is probably all to familiar with many of you. I am SO Done With Being the Fat Girl!! My goals are the same as many of yours: to lose and be healthier are the first. I am disabled by a Traumatic Brain Injury and mobility is only slightly impaired, but yesterday my Dr. said to start wearing both Leg and arm braces again! I plan on losing 15lbs by my b-day on May 29~my 40th!

Welcome Crystal! I'm so glad you joined SparkPeople! It is very fun and encouraging. Losing over 30 lbs is a great accomplishment. Have you checked out the motivation pages yet? I always get so much inspiration from people's weight loss stories. Also, there are some fitness challenges you can join if having someone else doing it too is helpful to you. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hello all my name is Crystal I am from Jersey City, NJ. Here's a little introduction of who I am and where my Journey began. I began my weightloss journey March of last year, And I tipped the scale at 335 lbs (which was my heaviest). With daily exercise and changing my eating habit I had gotten down to 298lbs (which was my lowest since high school) by November. Once november hit that's when my motivation starting slipping away. Between my mother (my weightloss partner) getting sick and stop going to the gym with me, the holidays, stress at work, stress with my living situation. I can't seem to find my groove again. I expected to gain a couple of pounds during the holidays (went back to 304 lbs) but now it just seems like everything I was doing right not working anymore (current weight 306 lbs). So I join spark people to get that spark back in my journey, some motivation, inspiration, advice and anything else that can help me.

Look forward to your advice and feedback

Hello!
I'm Felicia. I joined Sparkpeople almost 2 weeks ago now and I'm already seeing a huge difference. I made my New Year's resolution to eat healthier and actively work out more. It's nice to meet all of you! I'm 20 years old and a full time college student studying English Writing. I've been overweight for most of high school and it got worse when I got into college. I hope to be feeling fit and healthy by the time I graduate in May 2015.

MAMA_PICANTE & RUNNINGFORJOY, thank you both for the support and the warm welcome! I really appreciate that. I'm trying each day to commit to walking and being mindful of what I eat but it's tough trying to change old habits. We CAN do this! emoticon

Great work coming back! I've been on and off sparkpeople too, and think the best way to look at it is not as a failure, but a setback on the journey. You can't change what you did yesterday, but you can make healthy choices today. Progress, not perfection! emoticon emoticon So don't feel bad-- just think where you'd be today without your previous weight loss! Plus you have a lot of tools and know how for sucessful weight loss and healthy living. emoticon emoticon We're glad you are here today!

Hello everyone,

I am a former member of Sparkpeople, I had lost my motivation a while back but I'm back again to give this another try. I'm 24 years old and have been overweight/obese all of my life. I'm done with that. Last year, I lost 40 lbs but gained some of it back. I'm hoping that this time around I can stick to it! Good luck to everyone on their own journeys towards not being the fat girl!

Hi everyone! My name is Taylor and I recently joined Spark People for the first time. I really like it so far, and I'm glad I found this SparkTeam! I'm 22 years old and I, like you all, am done being the fat girl. Good luck to everyone on their weight loss journey, and please feel free to friend me and talk to me.
