Hi Nancy!

Welcome to the team! I agree with everything that has been said, particularly that the site is full of good information and that we are all here for you.

Also, it is my understanding that eggs are a great food nutrient-wise and a good addition to your diet. Some articles state that eating cholesterol in food doesn't necessarily affect your cholesterol (I track it anyway!) but you do need to watch saturated fat (which I also track on my nutrition tracker--you can customize your tracker to track all different kinds of nutrients including fiber, etc. besides just the main carbs, fat, and protein).

I wish you all the best on your weight loss with SparkPeople!

Maia

Dietary cholesterol accounts for about 20%... and it's found in eggs, so you may not need to eliminate them, but you do need to be careful about overdoing--which is true for anything! LOL Portion control is the biggest bugaboo for most of us, I think! LOL

The rest you need to watch for is saturated fat (the kind that is solid at room temperature). Omega 3 oils, found in Salmon, nuts, avocados... those raise the good cholesterol. Fiber helps too, so anything that's high in soluble fiber in particular--legumes, oatmeal, bran cereals...

You can click on the team name and find all kinds of dicussions about all kinds of tips...

Welcome to the team!

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But I don't think you have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too!

emoticon emoticon My understanding is that two eggs a week is fine, more than that is questionable. Read the health articles on the subject. There are great articles available on the Sparks site.

Hi,

I'm Nancy and just joined SP last week. I wrote my very first blog entry today and got some great comments. Currently on Simvistatin for cholesterol.

I read that the cholesterol in eggs actually helps raise HDL. I started eating eggs again and will post my numbers next check.
