I like to keep my calories under 750 a day and drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. Usually I toast 2 pieces of Italian bread for breakfast ( I get up about 4 AM) with real butter. I don't eat again till around 2 o 3 PM, it may be a salad, cup of soup or small steak, chop and that's it. I measure everything.

Believe in one's self and it can be done.

When I'm exercising 4-5 days a week, I find it really difficult to stay near that 1200 number, and I don't lose at 1500 even with the exercise.

The pleasures of being over 50, I guess. Thanks for responding to my question.

Everyone will lose different amounts of weight even if they are eating and exercising exactly the same. You'll need to find what works for you but don't expect to lose the same amount weight every week or month even. Too many variables.

I try to stay away from the 50% carbs (by cutting out white stuff, ex: breads, white sugar, full fat mayo, treats). Fresh veggies work well for me. I have a book by a nutritionist who suggests the 40 : 30: 30 recommendations. 40 carbs; 30 fat; 30 protein. It must be the good fats -- olive oil, nuts, real butter -- limited to the range. Anyway, this is probably the best thing for me and not going over 1200 calories.

My range is 1200-1550. I lose 0.5 pounds a week if I am at the lower calorie range and not eating bad sugar items. Increased water and fruits/veggies helps too.

I'm just wondering if people will post what their ideal range is to lose at least one pound per week. I have about 40 pounds to lose, and even when I'm exercising 45 minutes, five days a week, I don't lose if I'm at the top of my recommended range (1550).

What range do you find brings you the best results?
