My babies Jynx, Dixie n Charlie are waaay too spoiled for anyone else to care for....so they will be humanely put to sleep, cremated, and placed in my urn with me.

Dixie is the torbie and Jynx is the tabby n lots of white!! lol

Mr. Charlie. He was dumped out here a few years ago and found his way to our deck...we've been caring for him ever since...now he is an inside-outside kittie at his own will. June he will make his first trip to the vets for vaccinations and health check-up. emoticon

Does anyone have a large amount of cats and maybe care for a colony, too?

I would expect my children to care for my cat in the event of my passing. However my cat is 14 and I expect that she will pass long before I do.

I would either have my next door neighbors be his new family (daughter is craazy about him and they have taken care of him) or my friend if Mister Kitty would accept him. My worry would be more for my dog. My neighbors will probably be getting a new one (hoping they get one so Annie can have another playmate) and my friend already has 2 and one is afraid of Annie since she plays rather roughly for a smaller dog to play with. She also keeps trying to play with Orzo.

I am mad at your brothers, it is obviously a source of pain and disappoint to you So hugs there.. I think your question was admirable, and I know since you love cats you will find a solution that satisfies you. Don't give up on asking this question, though! It's an admirable one. I have several good, good friends but I would never dream of asking them to become caretaker of my cat, they would be lousy choices for it. They are wonderful people but did not grow up with pets.

I'm not expecting to die soon, either, but I care for a lot of cats, inside, outside, and in the colony down the street. I can't count on my brother or oldest nephew to find time to work with cat adoption groups since they haven't made time for a single lunch with me in three years, and they live in the area.

That's why I hoped to learn how others in similar situations have thought of what they will do.

I am not expecting to die very soon as I am 55 years old. My cat is 8; she will probably pass away before I do. My parents are in their 70s, I think they should be concerned about this. I could not adopt theirs as I live half way across the country and in an apartment.

Dr said my life expectance was 102+. Fancy would be 30 then so I never really worried about it.

I guess I just assume my kids will take them. They all know each other, at least the older one. The baby is a pandemic kitten, they'll know her soon.

Hi all ~~

As I prepare to sign a new will, I wonder what plans any of you have made for the care of your cats, especially if you have many, and for any colonies you care for, after you are gone.

Thanks.

Lou
