Good Saturday morning, all! I am back at it again; back to tracking and exercising. I'm down 12 more pounds and I am feeling really good. I have a long way to go, but I'm going to do it! :)

I would love to see more postings from you all. Reading them has always been inspiring; even if it's just chit-chat. Just knowing that you are there is helpful.

Have a successful weekend in whatever you are doing!

Went to the gym the other night with the intention of doing the eliptical for a bit. When I walked in the manager called over a new personal trainer (aprentice) and told me I got a free 15 minute session. Ugh. I wan not prepared for that, but the guy was so nice. I got to try out those huge rope things they use on Biggest Loser, and let me tell ya they are HARD. Some crunches and stretching too. It felt good, but boy I am out of shape! I did like having someone there pushing me. Now if I could come up with $375 for the *special* package they are offering... being broke sucks.

Hi Ladies... I am checking in again after a long absence. I have been on Spark since 2007 (or maybe 2008) but I fell off the wagon last year. Time to get my head back in the fitness game and start visiting the boards again.

Me in a snapshot: I am 44, married/partnered for 10 years, and have 2 kids (age 18 and 21). We live in the San Francisco area. I lost a ton of weight (90+ pounds) but have gained 40 back after some medication change. I completed 2 half marathons and a bunch of 5k's, but now I cannot even imagine doing that!

Time for some accountability and tough love. Looking forward to getting acquainted here again.

Yesterday was so cold and the wind was howling..they say the wind chill was -20 to -30 below 0. I had planned on going on snowshoeing for the first time this winter. I SOOO wasn't in the mood. Anywho...my friend Lisa showed up at my door and said, "Come on...let's go. You'll be glad you did."

She was right. I was kinda grumpy the whole time, but at the end, getting in the truck, I smiled. I WAS glad that I went. AND snowshoeing burns a lot of calories!! :)

Jenna Wolfe on the Today Show offered some advice this morning....first thing in the morning, take 20 sips of water...no measuring, just 20 sips. She said it will give your day a kick start. I think I will add that to my "plan".

Have a successful weekend,
Kathy

Oh Ruby, please don't think that comment was directed at you in any way....I was just notcing that for a team with so many members, there's not much activity.

Exercise HAS to be tough working hours like that! I don't think I would be able to find time or energy if I worked like that.

As far as car snacks, nuts & raisins are good. And if you eat one at a time instead of a handful at a time, they will last throughout your drive. Perhaps.... :)

Wow, these "teams" really aren't what they used to be....when I was on Sparkpeople a year ago, I would check in once a day and have to read a bunch of posts from members since my last one. Now I go on and sometimes days go by before I see a new post. So sad.... emoticon

I found that I was pinning to Pinterest a lot and not doing much with it, so I decided to create a board called "Things From Pinterest That I have Actually Tried". And, you know what? I had done more than I thought I had. Every once in awhile I will go thru my boards to see what I have done that I can add to that board.

There are a lot of diet & exercise tips on there too! (Not on MY board yet, but I am hoping to add some soon!)

I pin to pinterest ALL the time, but never have done anything from it. I'm thinking I should, though. The weather here today is in the 40s and rainy. So I'm getting some laundry done, having a movie date with my mom and stepdad, and getting ready for my mini vacation.

Be careful what you say. Once said, words cannot be unsaid, they can only be forgotten. When someone forgives you for your mistakes, it doesn't mean they have forgotten about them.

Dug out the old treadmill. At least it's something to keep me off my butt when the weather's bad. Snowshoes arrived this week, but it's raining today. Not sure when we'll get to use them.

What is everyone else doing to get some exercise in?

Hey Ruby, have you checked out Pinterest? I find some great organization tips there! (Not that I am THAT organized myself.)

Another cold day, but sounds like a warm-up is coming, finally! :)

Took the day off...crazy ice on the roads....gonna pull out the treadmill today. This weather is keeping me in, so I need to make inside plans to get some exercise in. Snowshoes should be here this week and I have planned an event for our lady friends to gather for lunch & snowshoeing next month. So far, we have 5 coming. That's positive!

I agree, Ruby...I know it helps me when I check in and read what others are doing to stay motivated. I will be more active on here too!

Great job on the gym and skiing. Cross-country is a great workout, although I have tried it and am not very coordinated. I will do some snowshoeing until I lose some weight and have better balance! :)

More snow on the way!!

Thanks for the welcome, Ruby. These groups don't seem to be as active as they used to be when I was on last year...or is it just the time of year?

''Hope you didn't get all the icing and power loss that many in the state got. We have some horrible road conditions, but no loss of power. Yay!

Hi all, In looking back when the last time I was on here, it was October of 2012. Since then, I gained 15 pounds and I feel like crap. I have an appointment for a physical in two weeks and I am truly worried for the first time. I have been overweight for years; that is not the worry. In the last few months, I almost feel drunk (buzzed) and light headed after I eat anything high in carbs. A sign of diabetes? Not sure. My daughter was diagnosed at 11 with type 1 diabetes and my mother at 67 with type 2. My symptoms aren't anything like what they had. They had the thirst, legs cramps and weight loss. I have none of that, so I'm not sure. Anyway, I need to get back on the bandwagon and start taking care of myself. I had a great year...I legally married my girlfriend of 5 years here in Maine and we bought our first house together. Life is good and I want it to stay that way! Thanks for listening!

Thanks, Ruby. It seems to be the never ending roller coaster. I thought I was doing well but I think I have too much medicine now. My heart palpitations are back (that is why I had no choice but to kill my thyroid). Not sure but I am waiting on labs to come back and then we will adjust from there. Diabetes sucks. My mom, sister, aunt, and grandmother are all diabetic. Seems to run in the family. So far my sugars have always been normal. I know my mom has struggled the most with it.

I hope everyone else is well.

I all. I am a sucky team leader . . . . I have been busy getting my health and career on track. Started the masters program this summer. four more semesters and I am done!

A year ago, the doctor told me I have Graves disease. I took radioactive iodine in March and am now trying to get my thyroid levels where they need to be.

Anyway, welcome to the newbies. Good to see some old faces too.

Hey, everyone...it's been ages since I posted in here. Seemed like everyone kinda ditched so I kinda quit checking the threads, was pleasantly surprised to see that we've had some new people join up and I apologize for not being here. You are right, Princess, life does have a way of rearranging your plans in a big way, doesn't it?

So you have another job, Teague? That's great, do you like it, I hope? Congrats on doing so well along this route with your weight loss, hope you can make the goals that you've set for yourself.

And welcome to everyone who is new!

Did you get tired of waiting on everyone, Ruby? Hope all is well in your world, too.

Where did you disappear to, Janie?

I haven't been doing a whole lot online here lately, I've been really hit and miss for more than a couple of months. I signed off the net completely for awhile, finally signed back up with a cheaper plan just recently 'cause got tired of going to my daughter's every time I needed to do my banking, etc. so I'm on a little more than I was but not as much as I used to be. It's a limited data plan so when I get notified that I'm close to my limit I just stay off til the new billing period begins. I've been spending my time working on my cabin this year, just got done having it re-sided and new windows all around, just concentrating on clean up now and getting ready to start on the interior, so have been really busy.

What are all of our stateside people doing for Thanksgiving?

Hi girls. I have been away for a long time, but am now trying to get back into the swing of sparking again. Looks like I need to read backwards a bit and get (re)acquainted again.

Have a great weekend!

The sailing sounds like great fun! Hope you had good weather for it. emoticon (i know... i couldn't find a ship with sails!)

Have fun on your honeymoon. emoticon Alaska is on my to do list as well. I just got back from holidays in Singapore and we did hours and hours of walking each day! Fitness levels definitely increased. Don't forget to leave some nice relaxing days too. We always try to fit too much in and come home tired!

I agree about little chicks... they are so much fun. We used to have a pet chicken. Loved to follow us around and hop on the swing with us!

Great work on the weight loss princess!

Hello Tree House women!

You sound good! Ruby, seems you need a rest! Long summer, how great you have a farm to eat such natural food from! Glad you went to your family reunion and had 2 great results.

Hi Pink, life good? You seem it. Nice comments.

Gail, I enjoyed your writings. How has your summer been? Cool there? I wish we'd catch some of that! Vegas is having a hot one, 106 degrees today, not terrible. We got up to 117 a month ago. Horrible.

Things are good here, I just had a birthday and I'm getting old! I feel pretty good. I had some great times with friends celebrating, quite a fun time.

I sure would like to meet a special woman, dating isn't easy, but I really want a girlfriend. I've been single over 2 years now.

Have a great coming weekend ladies!

That's cool, Ruby, how did everyone take it? Do all of your family members support you guys, I hope? Is your sis still staying with you?

Good to see ya peek in, Princess, how are things in your neck of the woods? I went to the state fair today with dtr and her twins, so at least I did nothing but walk today, which is never a bad thing. And stayed away from the fried fair food, just had two cups of melon and grapes and a veggie sub for lunch, along with three bottles of water, so was happy that I wasn't tempted to go for all the typical fare. LOL Altho we did swing thru Tim Horton's on the way there and I got a french vanilla cappuccino, so that was kind of a nose dive, but geez, it'd been years since I'd had one so decided to say to heck with it and treat myself. How is your fitness coming along?

Hope everyone else is doing well, it's been cool here in the mornings. Wondering if summer is deciding to go away already....sure has been a strange year for the weather. Anyhoooo, make it a good one, everyone....

Well, crap.....that restraining order against the marriage ban in Ohio is only in effect specifically for those two fellas, Ruby, it does not apply to any other gay persons in Ohio. So looks like we'll have to keep battling....but it's one hell of a start....

Wow, is that for real, Ruby??? I haven't caught the news yet today at all.....I knew those two fellas had sued to have their marriage recognized but I hadn't yet heard what had come of that. So is that for everyone, or just for those two fellas? I know Mike Dewine was on the news yesterday vowing to fight it for all he's worth and they are still trying to get enough signatures to get it put on the ballot next year to eliminate the 'one man/one woman' thing here in this state.

You know....I have to laugh.....they talk about ***God's view*** of marriage, and use that as a basis for their prejudice. But there really is no such thing......marriage customs have always been set by society, not by God, per se. And gender itself is only a temporary entity created for this particular plane of existence. When the religious folk carry on about how the one man/one woman concept was 'decreed' by God, I think they're forgetting that King Solomon had something like 900 wives, Abraham had at least two, and how many did the other old testament patriarchs have? I mean, c'mon.....LMAO It's nothing but a societal 'guy thing', has nothing to do with God at all. I believe that God (or whatever is 'out there') has both male AND female qualities, and it doesn't make one fig to the power that be whether it's a man and a woman, two men, or two women......it is the quality of the love that matters and there is no difference in the quality of love among any of those pairings. People really need to get a life.

I happened across a really interesting near death experience story last week, I'll have to see if I can find the link and post it. The man who experienced it was a fella named Christian Andreason, I believe, and he was very concerned right off the bat when he discovered himself in the 'higher realms' because he was bi-sexual, and he was afraid that this would condemn him to the lower regions of the universe. His angel guide accompanied him to a room where the walls were like a slide show. On one of the screens, he saw two beings making love, but they were beings of light....his angel guide asked him which was the male and which was the female, and he had to tell her that he couldn't tell. And his angel guide then told him that was how God views all of us....He sees us as our higher selves at all times, there is no 'male and female' to Him, and she said that it did not matter one whit to God, and that since 'He' is both male and female Himself, He understands full well how similar personalities are attracted to each other and approves of it, and we were all created exactly as we were meant to be, there are no 'accidents' in that regard.

It said a lot of other things that were really thought provoking, I'll have to see if I can find it again, but just in case I can't, I found it on a website called:

near-death.com under the gay/lesbian near death experience stories. It's an awesome website. Anyway, this Andreason fellow is a critically acclaimed musician, and his music is patterned after the sounds that he heard in the higher realms during his NDE, I would like to find some of his music, I'll bet it's awesome.

But he was told that if people realized the lesson that gay people were created to bring to this world, nobody would ever say a disrespectful word against them ever again. Apparently we are all part of a 'mission' here to bring enlightenment to this gray ol' world. Perhaps that is what is happening now? I dunno, but there certainly has been a major shift just in the past couple of years. I am heartened to see the religious wing nuts losing their grasp, at least in this arena. They have forced their flawed opinions on all of us for far too long.
