Hi girls.
Just want to let you all know that this will be my last post here. I will shut down my account here this week. You can find me on FB under the set up team name or you are most welcome to send a Friend Request to Dorothy Zadworny.

This was my very first team when I initially joined away back about 2005, I think. I left for 7 years and finally came back in June of 2019. It will be sad to see this site go, but I understand the competition for advertising that helps fund this site. Times have changed and it's time for me to move on.

For those not going over to FB, I will really miss you. Perhaps you will change your mind. I never did FB before, but now that I'm there, I like it. Met up with some long lost family members and friends, and belong to this team and the other one I was on so we can all stay in touch.

Lots of hugs,
Dorothy

Having a hiccup in posting but that is okay, I can comment just fine. Got this yesterday and felt a little sad that I will not be getting a 500 day one.

Verna: I'm really enjoying the FB page. I don't feel like I have to sit down and "compose" something ... I can just post a quick status update or read, like, and comment and I'm done. That was always the challenge for me - to make the time to sit down and respond to longer posts.

Yup, looks like this thread has been deserted. Makes me sad after so many years to see that this thread has shut its doors. Oh well changing times.

How wonderful and active we are on Facebook and that is so great to see. Just wanted to stop by and see if there were many posting here still and I see it is mostly on Facebook now.

See you there.

I thought I'd pull the link to the FB group up to the top, so it's not buried in messages. I'm so excited to see so many coming over to FB. I'm glad we will be staying in touch!

Good Morning All -

After a couple of days of both groups - the SP general one and ours. I let the big SP general one go. It was too big and too much on my feed, I ended up seeing them and couldn't follow the threads as well.

I think ours is the perfect size and we all know each of us, which is great! That was what I was hoping for in a group. I mean sure, it can grow, but I don't think it will get as out of control and the one that has over 400 people on it. emoticon

Mom was back to her regular mood yesterday so that was good. We shall see about today.
Have a great one all.

I've sent my request to the Facebook team page. It's under Bonnie Carlton (if anyone can approve me!)

Sorry, I haven't been much of a poster. I've been trying to find my way since I turned 50 in October.

I've recently signed up for Noom and it's been helpful! I'm finally back on track after more than a decade!

Good Morning -

You are right Verna, all the familiar faces are there. That is so great! If you would like Verna, I have a paper tracker sheet (PDF) that I could send you through messenger if you would like a paper one. It is an old WW one when they tracked protien, fruit, milk, etc.

Catch you on FB my friends.

Looks like most of us are already on the FB Group which will fill the bill for chatting at least!! I still haven't found a Nutrition Tracker but to be fair haven't even looked today as we got off to kind of a late stop and we had company then we had more company which is ok, The couple that came to see us, we have visited pretty much all along, infrequently but still we visited and then there were 3 guys who stopped in because they were hauling cattle to our pasture. Didn't stay long just kind of in and out.

I jointed the Weight Loss Thread here in June 1. First time in months and so far so good. We had pizza tonight and I made a kale slaw to go with it which wasn't exactly a low cal dinner but it SURE was good!! It drizzled on and off today but tomorrow the forecast is for more rain so I hope we get a good soaking then hopefully it will warm up.

That sure is a nice pic you posted on FB Dot and here you said you weren't sure how to navigate onto FB. Looks to me you are a quick study!!

Sounds like you are going to be in for a busy summer Sara. Hopefully it won't be too bad. After all it is summer and you will want to have the energy to enjoy the after hours.

Sara; Joining the FB group is easy, easy, easy. Just go to FB and in the search bar in the upper left hand corner type Canadian 50+ Women's Group. Voila - there we are. You'll need to click on the 'join group' (I think that's what it's called) and you'll get approved right away.

Wow seems like I missed alot these past few days. SP shutting down and FB getting a new group of very fine ladies!! Yes I'll gladly be part of FB group.

Been so busy at work that by the time I get home I'm so wore out, I have no energy to even click on SP. We have had 4 move ins this past 2 weeks so getting the rooms ready is a major job. With things opening up seniors are now feeling safe to find a new home and come into our place. I think it will be busy for the summer as each week we have a new resident check in.

Will try and find the FB group and join. Sara-Lynn Stevenson is who I am - so please accept me when I join. Can't wait to see what exciting things we can accomplish on FB. Will have to figure out tracking and stuff, but I do have a Fitbit, so it keeps close tabs on what I do. I actually use it more than SP for tracking.

Hope everyone joins FB, see you there.

Irene: I think I'm going to like the FB group better than SP. I enjoy being able to comment on or like a post in real time and not have to try to answer different points in a larger post. And I've already visited the FB page way more often than I did SP just because it's so easy. I think I'm going to be around a lot more.

Good morning Ladies,

I am so happy that we are able to stick together via Facebook. For anyone that is used to using the trackers I'm sure there are other sites where there will be free ones.
Also, you can track manually in a journal on your computer or by hand written in a real book. I used to journal and track my food by hand writing until I found Spark People.
Google is great for giving you nutritional values of food when you put them in as a question as well. I have used them when I can't find what I want on SP.

With technology at our fingertips the sky is the limit.

It is another hot and sunny day here in Welland and the temperature is climbing. so I better get myself moving. I have to take my DIL for her first vaccine today and then on Sunday I go for my second vaccine. I will feel so much better after I am fully vaccinated. Hubby and I will go up to visit our daughter and SIL in Sudbury who we have not seen since Thanksgiving.

I sending along best wishes to all and will see you on Facebook . Have a great day everyone.

Good morning. Megan I made it to Lethbridge yesterday and will be touring around the town this morning and then going to the university this afternoon before starting the long drive back to Edmonton.

I like the Facebook group. It will give us a place to chat and share. For my daily tracking which I know helps me. I have set myself back up in MyFitnessPlan. Same user name majork29. I'm actually liking the food tracking there more then the one here on SP.

Good Morning My Friends - I have already stopped by our Facebook group and it is looking pretty familiar with the usual faces. I think it will be okay. I think we shall be okay. I have been saving notes and putting my plans in place for me and I am sure it will be just fine continuing on. I have a sparkfriend who totally surprised me. If anyone was going to be totally upset with the loss of spark I thought it would be her. Especially since she had hundreds of blog pages for over 10 years.

She wasn't emoticon She said she was grateful for spark when she started but now she was ready to let go.

Made me think - if she can let go after tracking and I mean daily tracking of everything for 12+ years then I can too.

Irene - huge emoticon I know it was a huge shock when I read it on Sunday, now I am a bit less freaked out.

See you on the facebook side.

Another hot and humid day here in Petrolia. Looks like it might rain at some point in time though. I made a phone call to an elderly friend this afternoon. It helped to make the day a good one for both of us. I was beginning to feel really isolate and bored. Tomorrow I get to drive a friend to her eye appointment so it will get me out of the house for a while.

I have also joined the facebook group so we can still keep in touch after Spark closes down.

Hi Ladies,

I joined the group a few minutes ago. I know we can all still be as supportive, motivating and inspiring as we always have been. There are enough of us to offer advice that we have learned on Spark people if anyone is looking for it.
The nice thing is that we can still share together as friends .

Hoping that everyone is having a good day.

Kira, I hope your trip goes smoothly. I like my Garmin too. It has its flaws as it's old, but it gets me around when I need it. I don't have a smartphone, so it's either paper maps or the Garmin for me. I also have my friends tell me directions and that helps out too.

I'm glad to hear some folks who don't usually do FB or groups in FB are going to join up on the team. Kira mentioned in the team on FB there is a video chat option that we can look at down the road and she's used it with another group. Even with changes, there will be positives we can use on FB that we can't use here.

I'm home this morning as I have a late evening family to meet with at 6 PM today. I'm hoping it'll work out for the father as he works randomly and we thought this may help to catch up with him. I'm a family support worker. Tomorrow I head to the city with the folks for their follow-up appointment with the eye specialist - they each had one eye done for cataract surgery. Then on Sunday we go back in overnight and they have the other eye done.

Well I better get some things done around here and get ready for work. Take care all!

I know nothing about FB and always avoided it because I'm not all that social. My daughter and s-i-l use it all the time. I'll see about setting up an account because I want to be part of this group. As soon as I do, I'll let you know and give you my name so you can recognize me when I try to join in.

Verna, I sure hope you come aboard too with FB. You know, I think this will be even better in the long run. We can still have the odd challenge or two, share pictures, stories and generally check in with each other like here.

Today it's still hot and has been raining off and on with thunderstorms on the way. The heatwave is supposed to break right on my birthday, (Thursday). I guess that's a present from Mother Nature. I'll take it. emoticon

Have a good day team mates.

Just when I start to get my act together again Spark closes its doors to all but USA residents---isn't that always the way?? I'm not really interested in staying with any other part of Spark but this thread. I need to find a Nutrition Tracker that I can use on some other site. I've looked at my Fitness Pal but can't seem to figure it out. Mother slow child here!!!

Good morning ladies, it's a rainy morning today in Edmonton. I slept in a bit from my usual and will be going to get Megan up in a few so we can get on our way by 9am. We plan to stop in Calgary at my friends for tea and knowing her some food then on to Lethbridge. I'm going to pull my GPS out of my van and take it with us. Megan tells me that we both have google maps on our phone but I prefer to use my Garmin.

The Facebook group looks great. It won't be the same at all but change can be okay. I have also been playing around with MyFitnessPlan for food tracking. So far it is okay, different but okay. If anyone else is on it I am still Majork29....

Good Morning All -

Well, we have all been pretty busy I see between SparkPeople and Facebook. I had one lady that chatted on messenger for ages but as it went along I saw that she really didn't know who I was at all, so I didn't friend her. No sense really but I recognized the ladies from here and am very happy to have you as a friend there.

I never was much of a group person on facebook but this group and if the DivaGlow lady makes one will definitely be on my to-do stop on there. I am getting more okay with it. Change is change and there is not much to do about it. Americans in general seem to be pulling in more and more, I even see it with my sister and her family. Mind you, I don't think they are the only ones in the world pulling in. I noticed that ClaireInParis just disappeared from Spark with no word at all. Lots seem to be doing that.

Well, off to get mom's groceries so I shall be on my way.
Have a great day!

Patricia, just like here how often you post will have no bearing on whether or not you are a member. emoticon Heck I didn't post much here either but I did read the messages.

I just checked, so I believe that all who have requested to join tonight have been accepted.

I just requested permission to join the group - my name is Patricia Smith Perkins. I don't post much, but I hope that doesn't disqualify me from joining. Just kidding ...

I don't post much on this thread but I always read. I hope that's okay and that I can continue on the Facebook group page.

Here is the new Facebook page - Canadian 50+ Women's Group (SP Alumni)

If we decide to allow in that are outside of Canada, we can change the group name. There is a photo of a lady doing yoga in the sunset. I wanted to keep the cover photo generic.

Feel free to join up now. It is set up that members can approve those asking to join if you are already a friend with the person. I also set up two guides - one for nutrition and one for fitness. It allows us to post articles and such on these topics, under the Guides and pull it up easier than flipping through numerous posts. Since this is a new FB feature I'm not sure if everyone can post articles or if only administrators can do this - we'll see. :)

No worries on joining immediately - sounds like the majority of us will remain here in SP until they close on August 17th. :)

I would like to be a part of the Facebook group and can be found at FB under Susan Blanchard
I want to stay in touch with the members of this group and the one I am a leader in which is 50+ Maintainers. I have members from US, UK and New Zealand so I have out the question out to them is they would like a FB group page as well.

I paid for a Premium Spark people years ago si I have got my money's worth. I won't hold a grudge against them as they have been most beneficial in my transformation to being fit and strong. I certainly can't complain about the free service they have provided for the past 2 decades.

I can only imagine that Chris Downie is having mixed feelings about his decision to close and I'm sure it was not an easy decision.
I'm sure we have all learned valuable lessons from Spark People and if we can follow what we have learned, we shall all do well.

Wishing everyone a great evening.

MAJORK29 and I have been in contact, so I will get the Facebook group up and running tonight. The two of us will have equal administration for the group - which like here will be totally self-monitored and ran by us members. emoticon

As I mentioned Dot, if you want to participate in the FB group without being on FB, you can set up a private account and participate only in the group. No one needs to know you outside of the group and that keeps your presence on FB to a minimum.

My friend Cheri (from here) and I were talking on the phone yesterday about this. She mentioned many folks she knows will be losing money because they paid for an entire year or bought a lifetime membership for Premium. It's difficult (if not impossible) to do so internationally, I hope those in the USA who have purchased membership fight to have the money returned. It's theft in my eyes if people are out the money because SP shuts down.

I have ONE question. For Facebook group - do we want to keep it exclusively to women 50+ from Canada, or do we want to open it up to women 50+ from anywhere?

I ask because I have a friend from the USA who is very active on SP and she's really upset at losing her supports. I was thinking others in this group may have similarities with their friends on SP outside of Canada. Let me know what you think on that.

Alicia, it will be different not to be here, that's for sure! I may not have posted much in the group here, but I did read all the posts. It was always nice to come in and read updates.

Good Afternoon -

Like you all, I am clearing out my stuff and saving most blogs to a journal file on my external hardrive. Those of you who have put your facebook name I will send out a friend hello. It won't be the same as here on the chit chat but at least we can keep in touch.

I, too, plan on team posting until the end as long as you guys are here.
Have a great day!

I cleared out my photos and bio etc. on my Sparkpage and will post here until we are cut off. I don't do FB and am now setting up a personal fitness plan to follow each day. If something is set up in FB, I'll take down all the particulars in case I do finally join. I'll miss all of you too much to not stay in touch somehow.

Strange thing is, the Premium platform still pops up when I first sign in. I never joined it but seems odd that it's still coming up considering they are closing down. A lady from another team joined premium a few weeks ago before this came out. Now she may loose her money.

If the team is fine with this, why don't Majork29 and I set up the Facebook, then come back with the link? We can also assist anyone who isn't on Facebook to set up a private account so they can participate.

MAJORK29, what do you think?

Let us know. :)

Good morning ladies,

I spent some time yesterday copying my blogs from this site to my personal journal. Wow it was really neat to read some of the old ones. Yes I got a little sidetracked. Today I will try and finish. I have started looking at using either myfitnesspal or the Fitbit site to track my calories, not sure yet this week I am trying myfitnesspal and next week I will try Fitbit.

I'm all for joining a Facebook group. I look after one now with over 500 moms of special needs teens. They are easy to set up and you don't have to be friends with anyone.

Good Morning Ladies,

when I logged into Spark this morning and went to play Trivia, I answered over 10 questions right in a row and they just kept coming. Seems as if who ever keeps tract of pages may be disgruntled at the closure. Logging into Spark People I got an error although it logged me in.
Very weird.

Not sure hw active Spark People teams will be as the news hits and disappointment sets in about the closure but I do hope we will all keep chatting until August 17th arrives..I'm off to have some breakfast right now but will be back later in the day. Have a great day everyone.

Odd that I couldn't edit my post and you could DotZ. Ah well.

I run a couple of public groups, one private family group and one page for seniors on Facebook. One recommendation is if it goes forward, to have 2 moderators and place it as Private (not Secret, as that's too hard to find). If people want I'd be open to setting this up with someone else. Once groups take off they really do well, when it's groups like this - as it's very little work for moderators. My largest group is almost 5000 people and they self-moderate - it's a rental, real estate, job combination group.

Anyhow let me know if people want to go forward with this and know, you don't have to be friends on FB to join these FB groups - so if you aren't on FB, you can set up a private page that isn't accessible to anyone and participate in the group.

I heard the SP news and am not happy, in fact I'm pissed!!! I will sure miss all you gals. I'm on FaceBook as well under Verna Knight. Desiree I looked for you on FB, are you the one who refers to NAIT because that's the only one that I can see that might relate to you but the page is virtually empty. If anyone else is on FB, maybe we could set up a group and stay in touch that way. To keep in touch through e mail would be a tedious chore I'm afraid. What does everyone think about FaceBook Group for the purpose of keeping in touch? Any other ideas out there?

Wow, I too will be sad to see this go. I've made lots of friends on Spark People and was glad to connect with some Canadian teams. I know that Spark People has certainly taken up lots of my time but in retirement and while going through pandemic lockdowns, this is has been something to occupy myself with. Well, Canadian ladies, lets keep on talking until we are shut down. We shall have to go searching for something Canadian now as weight loss support.

Well it was a good day until I read this. Sorry to see this site go to anyone living outside of the U.S. I really liked Sparkpeople. It was so unique. Been here a long time and will miss this team especially because it was my first team when I joined many years ago. Just cleaned up my Spark page and got rid of everything but will continue to post until we are cut off. I'll miss you all.

I was able to edit my posts ok Sparklenorth.

Well apparently we can no longer edit our posts (?) which is odd. I will let you know I thought I had shared the article but it was the comment section.

It is ignorant of Spark but I saw the writing on the wall years back and was surprised it hadn't gone this route earlier. I find it really low and ignorant that they have hidden this article, have not sent out a mass Spark email, or put it on the "what's new" page.

Spark wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the members - as many features are driven by members including sharing recipes. If they had been upfront about this it wouldn't feel like a slap in the face, but they weren't - they hid the story deep.

I went to the new site to see what is covered and it's even really difficult for anyone in the outer areas of the USA to fully participate. They have centred the main activities around 6 major cities. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are completely on their own. When they do city challenges where one can win prizes, you have to have ability to be near the major centre to register and participate.

Like many businesses Spark started off with a belief system "to provide free access to health and wellness tools and supports" to "we are focusing on capitalism and the original mandate we held is gone." They state in the article it costs millions to keep this site going - makes one wonder what they are spending the money on. I understand the net isn't cheap, staff aren't cheap, and writing all the code isn't cheap, but seriously millions of dollars is spent to keep it going? I really wonder what their profit margin is. But I'll let that go, it's more a curiosity.

Well, I've enjoyed the time I spent here but I'll be heading out soon. I'm going to start removing my photos and blogs, get them down so that they cannot be used in any form on the net - even though they say it'll be closed permanently I've had negative experiences with sites stealing my writings and then blocking my ability to gain access to them. I don't want anything floating out there that is mine.

Take care all!

Wow, I read this Kira and you are right. Well, at least we have a couple of months to save and download and try to connect elsewhere if we wish. emoticon

There is the idea out there that one could start a Canada's 50+ Ladies Club on Facebook as a group and be there if one is on Facebook but that would not cover those that are not. emoticon

I see that they are not sharing this on the main page or news page but it is buried pretty deep. I will be sharing the heck out of your link Kira and start saving my stuff. emoticon

This is stunning news - tinyurl.com/c6jmaxjv

Good morning ladies,

It's going to be much cooler here today. I got half a walk in yesterday. I needed a head of lettuce for dinner last night so i decided to walk to the store to get it. I got there, while I was at the cash my hubby called me to tell me that a storm was coming through and he was on his way to pick me up. It was so thoughtful of him. I would have been a looking like a drown rat before I got home.

Today is going to be a relaxing day at home. i will try and get another walk in.

Alicia I can see more cedars disappearing in the fall when the weather is cooler. I had to do a major cleanout on one of my Nanking Cherries trees. It had more dead branches than live ones and I said enough is enough and into the garage I went for the pruners and prune I did!!. There was a lot of rotted wood at the very bottom of it but also lots of new growth so I cut and snipped to my hearts delight, It looks a little sad right now but I will give it until fall to see if it picks up which I suspect it will. I never get any fruit off any of the trees because the birds always beat me to it!! Greedy things!! They mostly eat the berries while they are still green. I sure hope they stay out of the raspberry patch this summer seeing as I worked two days in it to get it all cleaned up and pretty looking. Beautiful niece you have there and so lovely that you were able to watch the graduation. I always go to Costco in the off hours and it is relatively new and on the outskirts of Calgary and it seems not too many people go there. I've not seen a crowd but once when the last shutdown happened. I just said, nope not going and that ended that caper!!

Dot your driveway must look lovely now that it's all done and the cleanup is finished.

Yikes I have to run by the look of the clock. Need to jump in the shower, go to town and pick up some dinner buns and brocolli so I can make a brocolli salad with raisins and apple for the family get together at daughters place. Maybe I'll get a minute tomorrow to stop in but it's doubtful as we have a horse running in Lethbridge. Take care all.

Hi girls. Another hot one here today and for the rest of the week. In the 30's and can get up to 40's with humidex. No walks for me in this. I did doggy walks for my s-i-l yesterday as he wanted to go golfing just to get out of the house a bit. He needs a break as he takes really good care of the dog and it can be a full-time job. My dd managed to doggy sit until he came home but she can barely walk now so Roxy and I had Granny time together 3 times yesterday.

Kira, how nice that you and your dd are going to Lethbridge to tour the campus. Enjoy the trip as well as the tour.

Verna, that was a good visit with your dd. With contributions from both you and her no one had to slave away in the kitchen doing it all alone, and it makes more time to sit and chat.
Good news that both you and your dh got your second shots. I'm checking the internet every day to find out when the clinic we went to at the hospital will start offering earlier 2nd shots. As it is right now we have to wait until the end of July and the new variant is starting to surge here. We are being warned that in 2 to 3 weeks it will take over. Here we go again! They are trying to get as many people as possible in for that last shot before we end up in a 4th wave.

Desiree, I love snapdragons and marigolds. The snapdragon seeds pop up every year and I let them get about a couple of inches, then start digging them up to spread them in little groups. Marigolds are great to keep certain bugs away. I must get some sweet peas as they are such pretty flowers too.

Alicia, that's a lovely picture of your niece. Isn't it great that if you can't be there in person, at least you can see what's happening virtually?
Staying away from Costco isn't a bad thing especially for your wallet. I haven't been there since last Fall because of covid, but on a regular basis, I go maybe 3-4 times a year to stock up on paper products. I'd go in the morning during the week when it wasn't busy.

Susan, with busy lives it's not always possible to be here every day. Different things demand our time and there are only so many hours in a day.
Enjoy your time with your little GGD today at the splash pad. It's a good day for it. Thank goodness the province finally came to their senses and decided to open the playgrounds and now the splash pads for the kiddies. I could never figure that out about shutting down tennis, golf and other outdoor activities that were well spaced. It just didn't make sense.

To all our other team mates, have a good day and stay cool.

Good morning,

I didn't really get to sleep in this morning but hubby did get up with our old dog at 4 when his old man bladder demanded to go out. I just found out the my daughter and I are going to Lethbridge on Tuesday for a tour on Wednesday of the campus. I'm so excited for her. I remember going to University and getting ready to leave home. It was such a great time.

Today is going to be another awesome day. I have some yard work and housework to do, if I can get it all done today I have tomorrow completely off.

Good morning ladies,

wow the time flies and I realized I have not posted since June 2nd. IT has been a busy week to say the least and time gets away from me. In the evening I barely think of Spark People or going on the computer unless I have to order something. While I truly enjoy all of my friends here, life gets so busy around my place I often for get to come and post on the team.

Alicia congratulations on your niece's graduation and glad it was live streamed so you could watch. When my granddaughter graduated from college we had to watch on line as well because there were only so many seats for family to attend and that meant her mom and dad only It was just as good to be able to cheer for my granddaughter from the comfort of home. Technology makes a few miracles for people who are disabled or hospitalized and they are missing their loved one. How awesome that we can video chat. For me with a daughter and granddaughter and SIL who lives in Denmark it feels like they are in my room with me when we chat and that way I don't miss them as much .My heart still aches to hug them all and next year when they visit, I will be able to.

Verna, I'm so happy for you and Pete getting your second shots. Brian and I are on a stand by list and on Monday morning I can book appointments for us as a second guarantee we will get ours. When we went stand by in April, they did not give us a second appointment so we have been on pins and needles waiting. IM surprised at the heat you have had after just having such cold weather a couple weeks ago. WE are in for some really high temps over the next several day which is fine by me but the humidity we suffer in Niagara is very high and that makes things a bit sticky.

Dot, so happy to hear you got your driveway in and that sounds like one efficient crew. Wish they were down here as we waited to have out patio poured for over a month after it was dug out and stoned. Stay cool in the heat..

I will be taking my little Great granddaughter to the splash pad at the park for the afternoon to stay cool and one old granny might even get wet too if it gets too much to handle. The col water will make things much better.

Well I must run but want to wish everyone a great dau and an awesome weekend. be safe. emoticon

Good Morning Ladies! emoticon

Through the wonders of technology we were able to watch the graduation of our niece in Florida. We would never have been able to actually go, especially with keeping an eye on mom but this way we were there in spirit.

Yesterday we tackled that hedge once more and after a lot of work we really cut it down and trimmed it back. We are giving the center of it the summer to come back but if it doesn't there will be some cutting back to the roots of the center row of these things. I swear that 50 years ago they put in double rows or even triple because I can see much more than a single row of cedars.

Kira - and just in time for the much needed ice season of summer. Good for you!

Dorothy - what a huge project completed and the clean up, which sometimes is way more work that the project itself.

Verna - oh yeah, hugely happy. The only thing that would make us happier is getting it out completely but mom loves the hedges so they stay. You know, Costco is one place I have never shopped at, I hear about it all the time but the more I hear the more I know it is just not me to go shopping there. I could neve tolerate the crowds. Wal-mart is the biggest I can manage and only when necessary. emoticon Good for you getting your second shot. No word yet on ours but it hasn't been that long and I am sure it will come soon.

Desiree - enjoy the fresh air. It is so nice to enjoy not being rushed.

Have a great day all!

Hi my Canadian friends. I hope everyone is well and keeping busy but not too busy. It's been a little to warm the last couple days to be out in the afternoon so that means I've been working more after dinner which isn't my favourite time of day to work but much cooler. I'm thinking if those seeds in the garden haven't germinated by now there is no chance of them ever growing so ready of not I'm going to dig out the hoe and will be putting in long days getting that first weeding done. It's the hardest hoeing and takes the longest cause God knows I don't want to hoe out any of my veggies, not after all the work I've already put in to them.

Desiree never fails that equipment breaks down when there is still much to be done. Even worse when it happens at harvest time!! How many acres do you seed or should I ask sections??

Pete and I got our second Covid shots late this afternoon on short notice so we were really happy to get the call. No symptoms and I just patted my arm and it isn't even touchy yet although I suspect it will by tomorrow. Our first shot was moderna and this one was pfizer and because it is a second shot the pharmacist did say we could have more symptoms and I've heard and read on social media that people have been more adversely affected with the second shot. I'll keep you posted but in the meantime I'm off to my bed.

Alicia I bet you and hubby were more than happy to rest after the hard work of getting that hedge trimmed. Hedges are a lot of work. I'm so glad I cut ours down to half the height they were a couple years ago now. It was just too hard to hold my arms up that high to trim them so I got the BIG hedge trimmer out and went to town. I do love the look of them when they are nice and neat though!! Your mom will be happy. Hope she is feeling back to normal within a day or so.

Dot, how lovely that you got the driveway done and the dust off the verandah etc. Always nice to get things cleaned up. I love washing down things, makes it seem like new and the smell of freshness is like none other

We were in the city today to get a few things at Costco and while I was there I bought myself some extra work. Yup you guessed it more bedding out plants, petunias and snap dragons. I haven't had snap dragons here ever so I'm hoping they will like the soil and water. I guess that will be my tomorrow job.

We were to our daughter's for dinner tonight. It was a community one, I took 2 of those Costco chickens, some buns and macaroni salad and she provided a garden salad and fruit salad, some cheese and corn on the cob. It was lovely and not too much work for either of us. When we got home DH immediately hooked up to the dialysis machine and I can hear him snoring already!! It was very warm here today so I think the heat played him out. I'm kind of waiting for the house to cool down a bit so I can close the patio doors upstairs before turning in which I am going to do very shortly.

Hi girls. Read all your posts. We got the driveway done. This paving company was great. They came with a crew of 9 including the owner and 3 dump trucks and all kinds of other paving machines. It looked like we were going to put in a huge parking lot instead of a driveway with all the action going on. Very professional, done in 1 hour and left everything spotless. Now that the driveway looks amazing, dh and I got out a couple of buckets and started washing down all the dust from the balcony and verandah from when they dug up the old pavement and used a stone cutter to cut out our half a month ago. Not only the dust but yellow pollen was all over everything this year. Bad year for allergies.
Now I'm setting the wheels in motion for a carpenter to build a new gate for the back garden. Found another good company on HomeStars. I use them all the time for projects and always had good people.

Verna, I think you sent all your heat to us. This is coming from the west they say so can't blame the U.S. this time. The humidex is supposed to go up to 41c in the next few days emoticon . Don't think I'll be doing much out in that inferno.

Hope everyone has a good day and stay cool.

Good morning all,

I have ice again!!! hubby and I fixed the ice maker in our fridge yesterday, okay more like we bought a new one and installed it. Old one was broken. As my hubby says nothing that money won't fix. As we had to turn the fridge off I completely emptied it and used our bar fridge and extra fridge in the garage for all the stuff. I deep cleaned the fridge and changed the water filter.

Today I will be returning the stuff from those fridges back to the kitchen.

Good Thursday Morning All -

Well, it is raining and good to see that. Most plants are sure needing it. Mom was pretty good yesterday, not feeling very strong but resting. So, we got to work hacking and cutting and sawing and saw a serious drop it the height of the hedge, at least half of it. I made hubby stop at about halfway because he tends to try to finish completely and the hedge is too much for that. It was a really good job for the first part. It is looking a bit sparse but that is just fine. That thing is over 50 years old and out of control. Mom likes the darn thing so we keep it, if it were up to us - it would be out as it is too wild. We could always use the wood from the hedge as a fence instead emoticon

Anyway, that really knocked us out for the rest of the day so I stuck with my needlecraft that I am working on - those Halloween houses. I have a really large plastic canvas to work on when this village is done. The more I work on them the more I am enjoying doing them.

Sara - emoticon belated.

Kira - thanks, I know. I keep repeating in my head, 41, like it has been 41 years since I went into labour. emoticon

Susan - hope you had a nice ride and great visit.

Verna - hope the gardening went well. I admire anyone who can garden.

MaryBeth - sounds like you had a nice visit with your friend too.

Have a great day!

Good evening ladies

Since my last post I have turned a year older. Had a nice day on Monday as I'm one year closer to retirement. If I keep thinking that I'm hoping the time will go faster, or I'll win the lottery and be able to retire sooner than later. Lol

Have been able to get my 3 walks a week in which I'm happy about. Was able to shave off a few minutes each time as well so that makes me very happy as well. We walk 5k and my hip/sciatica hasn't slowed me down.

Just wanted to check in - glad things are going ok for everyone.

Hello Ladies.
Today I had a surprise visit from a friend. We went up town, got a coffee/treat and sat out on a park bench to visit for a while.
Hubby managed to start the grass cutting this afternoon. The back yard is done. guess he will do the front yard tomorrow if we don't get much rain. He has just finished preparing a chicken casserole and put in oven for supper.
I was going to clean the windows in my music room today but having a visitor ended that project for today!

I was in the house earlier last night but I DID get all done that I wanted to, even more but I woke up shortly after going to bed with a very sore hip again so I took an aspirin and went back to bed (Just like the doctor orders right?) When I woke up this morning my hip wasn't one bit sore What the heck?? Not complaining mind you just reporting in. I have the bedding washed and out on the line at the moment and will be heading out to bring it in as soon as I'm done here as the sun is blazing down with full force. The temperature is supposed to climb to 31 today and for the few minutes I was out I can say it is hot out there already but again, not complaining. i will mosey down to the garden to see if the tomatoe tires are still full of water because it will be REALLY hot inside them, don't want the tomatoes to cook, just want them to grow. LOL Not sure but it doesn't appear that the germination was that great this year, except for the corn!! Well it is what it is and if not so much grew then there won't be so much to pick right!! Seems everyone expects to get some produce but nobody really appreciates it or at least so it seems that way to me!! As long as enough grows for our use who cares about any surplus right?? I really won't know until the first time I hoe the weeds out.

Kira, if you have a couple blocks of ice you can put them in a container in front of a fan to cool off your house. --- Might be a good idea just before bed if you don't have good air flow. I've never actually tried this method of cooling down the house but see on FB it is a good remedy for some anyway. If it's too hot for DH and I to sleep tonight I will move upstairs where it will definitely be cool enough with both patio doors wide open. Great north/south air flow. Around here the wind blows either from the south or north so it's a sure thing that what used to be the master bedroom cools off within an hour or two of having those doors wide open.

Susan good thing you get up early because with the heat you're expecting it would not be a great idea to be out bike riding this afternoon. Hope you enjoyed your early morning bike ride and that you and your friend had a lovely visit this afternoon.

Dot, you must live in a duplex?? There are lots of folks out there that are "slumlords" so to speak. They like to put the money in the bank from the rent but not so anxious to keep the property in good repair.

Alicia, you and hubby please take care getting those cedars trimmed and be sun wise while out there. Hope your mom is in a good mood today!!!

Well, I must run get those clothes off the line and check on my tomatoes.

Good morning,

U hope we get the rain that they are calling for today. It might just cool it off a bit. It never went below 20C last night.... My backyard was at 27C at 5pm yesterday. Thankful for the fans.

Melissa's appointment went well. we are hitting pause on trying to get her to use a cpap machine. We will touch base again in October and they will then complete another sleep study before proceeding.

We got the RV home last night. The damage from the small fire at the end of last year is not as bad as I thought it would be. Only a little bit of the floor under the couch was affected. I am looking now at foam to make new cushions. They are in bad shape and need to be replaced. I'm hoping that I can cut the cost down by buying the foam and doing it myself. Otherwise it will be an expensive year for camping.

Alicia, Happy Birthday to your DD, I know what you mean about how kids get older so quickly. How does it happen?

MaryBeth, I so wish on days like yesterday that we had central air. The good thing is that here we will only need it for a few days. I know that if my son ever moves out of our basement we will have to hire someone to do the mowing, I just can't start the darn mower and hubby can't do it anymore. Yes I know that i could buy an electric mower but really I will just pay someone to do it.

Good Morning My Friends -

Well, today is my oldest DD's 41st birthday today. Sometimes I think it is not so much my birthdays that shock me but just how old my kids are. emoticon Seriously, she is 41, how did that happen?!?!?

Anyway, today is back to mom's to trim more of her out-of-control cedar hedges. The side ones are going to need hubby on a ladder with me for support. We hope to get it cut down quite a bit as it is way too high.

Have a lovely day all!

Dot, thanks for the heat warning. I may have to resort to turning on the central air! Today was perfect temperatures I thought.
My adventure today was doing some grocery shopping. I thought hubby would do the grass cutting but I guess he is procrastinating for yet another day! I wish he would just give up totally if it is too hard on him, and give in to hire someone. He doesn't like to spend money though.

Irene, I also want to thank you for all your dedication in keeping the team afloat over the years. This was the very first team I was ever on way back in 2005, I believe. Although I left for 7 years, I came back again in 2019 and was so surprised to see it was still up and running thanks to you and a few other members that stayed on. It's nice not being too big of a team because it's hard to keep track of everyone.

Tomorrow, the pavers are coming to finish the driveway. I'll be so grateful not to have gravel and dust being tracked in. Only our half is being done. The manager of the other side for an absentee U.S. landlord didn't bother. He didn't like the price, I guess. It's the same with the eaves troughs. They have a blockage on their side that caused huge icicles to form over the tenants' cars. The tenants told him they would be contacting their insurance if their cars became damaged. He texted me last November that he would tell me how much it would cost for my side ??? because he was getting someone in and I never heard a word from him and nothing was done. I will have someone come over in the Fall to clean our side only and inspect it for the year and he can do what he likes with his side. Thank goodness the tenants both upstairs and down are really nice people. Oh well, such is life.

For all us Southern Ontarians, brace yourselves for a big heatwave starting Friday. It said we could have humidex readings in the 40's next week and June will be mighty hot YIKE!! I'll be looking forward to the snow again, lol.

Hope everyone had a great day.

Thank you all for your kind words - so yes, I will continue to do this.

And just a reminder that the weight loss challenge is all set up for June - do feel free to join in!

On the home front, my husband has an appointment for second vaccination next week! Iím a bit younger, so it will be a few more weeks for me.

Wishing you the best.

Irene, Thank you for saving this team. thank you for being willing to continue being leader and keeping this team alive and thank you for all that you do. We all appreciate so much that this team is still here and that is because you stepped up to the plate. Again, Thank You

Susan, you are so dedicated to your Power walking and/or biking which is now your exercise of choice. Maybe send some of your hints for success to my head so I can at least THINK of doing something about my weight. The 5% Challenges aren't even working anymore BUT HEY this is June 1 and anything can happen right??

Kira, it's going to be a warm one here today as well so I need to get the water hose pouring where it needs to pour!!

I got those bedding plants into the pots and watered in, in fact I watered the last pot at 10 pm last night plus I got the horses fed their treats with the help of Dh and the garden is mostly watered, just need to give the peas a big drink today and a small portion of the garden where the sprinkler didn't reach. I can feel the heat rising out there so I'd better get moving. Have a great day all.

Good morning ladies, it is going to be a war day here in Edmonton. I have already watered outside and will have to keep an eye on my planters, they dry out so fast.

This morning I am going to do some more training with a new rep, she happens to be a very friend. It will be nice to meet with her in store and help her to succeed at this job.

This afternoon Melissa and I have a zoom meeting with her sleep doctor about where we go from here. I tried her on a Cpap machine and it really didn't go that well at all.

Good morning Ladies,

it's a bit cool out this morning but will war, up as the sun comes out from behind the clouds.

Irene, you are doing just fine being the team leader and popping in from time to time is just fine. Because of you there is a team and there are no set rules to being a leader. We appreciate you and the fact that you are holding the team together.

Alicia, you are such a dedicated daughter and I only wish my mom was still here so I could be doing all those things for her too. I miss my mom so much as she was my best friend as well as my mom and we did so much together.

Yesterday I managed to get out and I rode 28 kilometers then went out for a 2.25 mile power walk with my little dog Tyson. Today I want to get out and ride again if the sun comes out. It wont be as long a ride as I am babysitting my great granddaughter today. Hubby will take over when I leave and Hailie will get spoiled as he always does.

I have a Zoom meeting in 30 minutes so I have to run. Wishing everyone a great day. emoticon

Good Morning My Friends -

Irene - you are just perfect as a leader. You keep an eye on things, you post the challenge each month and always respond if someone asks you something. As someone who actually flunked as a leader, I think you are doing just wonderful as you are here as you can be and have stuck to it for the team. emoticon

Today I am off to get mom's groceries once more so pretty normal Tuesday as well. Not much going on here so just wanted to stop by and say - emoticon

Just popping in to say hi, and to say how nice it is to see all these conversations going on.

I also want to apologize for not being very involved with this forum - but I am trying to limit my online time and I simply canít keep up.

As many of you know I stepped in a few years ago as new leader for this group. I did it because we were without a leader and I was afraid that the group would disappear without it. However, I did say that I would be a minimalist leader - and that I am. However, I also said that it is OUR team - not mine - and that I was sure that the members would keep it going - as you have been.

I am quite willing to continue as leader. But I will continue to be that minimalist one, with my biggest contribution being the monthly weight challenge. However if someone more involved wants to take over, please let me know. As I said, I am quite willing to continue doing this, but I do feel a bit guilty that I am not more involved.

Anyway, wishing everyone the very best today.

Lovely day here with sunshine and comfortable weather. I got my hour walk in this morning and will spend today doing a few small paint jobs that need doing and some gardening later. I took Ginger a.k.a. my little Snooky out in the backyard last evening while I sat on the garden swing and read. Had to keep getting up as she parked her bum under a hosta right beside the bird bath and the birds were mighty put out that they couldn't come in to wash their feathers and have a drink. Some were determined they were going in anyway and if they looked pretty young and inexperienced with danger, I would go up towards them and they would fly away for awhile. This went on for a bit until Snooky decided I was spoiling all her fun and laid on the lawn instead ignoring the birds. They could see her well then and sat on the fence and swore at her between trips in and out of the bath.

Susan, you mentioned your grass seed doesn't want to germinate. It seems to be a common problem this year as I see it everywhere on my walks. Maybe it's the fluctuating weather. Just keep it watered everyday and eventually it will sprout. If it gets too hot it will stay dormant. The only alternative is sod.

emoticon Alicia, Sara, Kira, Verna, Desiree, Irene, MaryBeth, and all our team mates out there. Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning ladies,

Today is going to be a short day for me. I have to go get some pictures to prove the data collected by a rep, I know that I will find that the rep is correct but head office seems to need backup. At lest I'm paid to go get these pictures. Then I am coming home to re-pot some plants and vacuum my upstairs.

Tonight we will be watching the hockey game between the Canadians and Maples Leafs. I had ordered hubby a budlight to replace his old one that no longer connects to the wifi, it was supposed to arrive before the playoffs started but only arrived on Friday, so we will set it up and see how it works.

Good Morning Ladies,

it is a beautiful morning here in Welland Ontario and I am about to go out for a 20 mile bike ride. It has been an entire week since I rode the bike due to rainy and windy weather. I wanted to out yesterday but the wind was just a bit too strong by=ut I did go out for a 3.5 mile power walk and that felt food.

I have been up since early this morning and got the grass seed watered in hopes that this will be the week that we see the grass actually coming through. IT is growing on the south side of the back yard where there is more shade , it's the seed close to the deck in the upper yard that gets no shade until later in the day. They say patience is a virtue and I am doing my best to maintain mine. I am definitely a person who likes things to be done right away and the grass is teaching me that it doesn't always work MY way.

Well the one thing I CAN control is what I do during the day and today fitness is on the agenda first and foremost so I am out of here to get changed and out on the trail.
Have a great day ladies and may it be healthy and happy. emoticon

Good Morning emoticon

Usual Monday of meal planning for the week and grocery shopping for us. Hubby plans on clipping more of the bushes at mom's and I will stop by not only to pick him up but to pick up mom's list for tomorrow. So all in all a pretty usual Monday.

Sara - good to here that the physio went well. I am sure it will help a lot.

Kira - so sorry to here about Melissa. I hope she gets to see her grandparents too. A road trip could be a lot of fun for your parents. emoticon

Verna - hope the walk was lovely for you. emoticon

MaryBeth - you too! emoticon

Dorothy - I know what you mean, sometimes you just wonder about people. Enjoy your car then. We will probably have one more car, hubby has decided that at 80 he will let his license go. He has 5 more years then. I, being nearly 64 will continue for awhile, at least as long as mom is still around and after we shall see. Our town has lots of ways to get around so it is not a hardship really. emoticon

Desiree - hope the bear decides to take a walk elsewhere for you. emoticon

Susan - hopefully that grass seed will get sprouting soon. emoticon

Well, time is getting away from me
Have a great day

Good morning ladies,

the sun has returned and the weather is pleasant out there . The breeze is not a cold one but I hope it subsides a little so I can get out for a nice long bike ride. I have been aching for the past few days after the cold snap came because my fibromyalgia doesn't like the change in weather so abruptly.

I am still aching today but moving makes it so much better. I have been out watering the gardens and the grass seed which has not been doing a thing in the two weeks since I planted it. It has started to grow n the areas that have more shade but in the sunshine it has done nothing and it was seed for sun and shade. I put more down this morning and if it doesn't do anything this week we are going to pick up some sod. I paid $50 for that bad of grass seed I would expect more from it but maybe it the sun we had the first week it was down was too much for it. We have been watering in early morning and when the sun has left the yard so I have no idea what we are having such a hard time this time with seeding.

The new week ahead looks really nice so I am hoping to be out daily for bike rides.

I too just bought a new car last year and although it wont be the last I refused to buy it on time. I paid cash for it and I don't want any debts. Master Card hates me because every year they have to give me a percent back on my purchases while I never carry a running balance. I pay everything off as I go. Usually every couple of days I pay what we have spent. AT our age we don't need to have debts just savings and what we need to live on.

My little great granddaughter is her and wants some lunch so I will go and before I do I wish everyone a beautiful Sunday and a great week ahead.

This morning is already getting warm and it is just after 7am. I'm hoping to log into the church service from my hometown church in a few minutes.

Dot my parents are okay with the loan at 0% and a cheaper overall price plus they got $6000 for their old car instead of the $3000 is they paid cash. He is going into the bank on Monday to set up some kind of short term investment fir the cash that he was going to spend.

Love your cartoon Alicia. Gave me a chuckle, especially when I look at what my dh is wearing right now--his checkered fleecy pajama bottoms, lol. Keeps him warm but could be hard on the neighbours eyes if he ventured out emoticon

Sara, enjoy your time by yourself today. Everyone needs that from time-to-time.

Kira, the dealership pushed me to put my car on credit and I flatly refused as I had cash. They make it sound like you will save all kinds of money but only they really get the perk for keeping people on the hook for a few years. When I wouldn't budge, he actually got nasty and said that he didn't know what was wrong with me and I'm the first person he ran into that didn't want to save money. He then started begging me to only take it for 6 months and I really smelled a rat. When I left his office all his sales buddies just sat and starred that he wasn't successful badgering me. My salesman was great, didn't push me and bent over backwards to be helpful, but this guy was part of finance and their policy was that I absolutely had to talk to him before the deal was sealed. This is my last car too. I will be 74 and keep cars for at least 15 years because I don't drive much. Hope your parents get something out of their deal.

MaryBeth, glad to hear you are feeling much better. The sun is out here too but it's still windy and chilly.

Verna, here's hoping some of your horses come in today a winner.

Hello to Desiree, Susan, Irene, Pat, Audrey, Dee and all our team mates out there.

Oh Kira, your walk in the river valley sounds absolutely divine. When the CFR was in the old coliseum we crossed the river valley on Wayne Gretzky Drive and I so enjoyed the view from the bridge. It would be a lovely walk I reckon.

Looks like everyone likes the fresh air coming in the windows as we sleep.

My hip is absolutely killing me this morning, didn't sleep well and we are going to Lethbridge to the races. Hope the trip doesn't make things worse. I may walk around the lake while there just to get off my bum. Wearing my new walking shoes today so hope these boots are made for walking!!!

Must run. Have a lovely day all

The rain had stopped again. I'm happy about that, it looks like it might start again later today but at least for now we are getting some sun and blue skies.

Mac didn't end up getting my furnace and ducts cleaned last night, he was simply too tired when he got home. He had a problem at the last house and it took about 2 hours longer to get done then normal. Maybe another day next week. I guess when I am not paying I just get it done when it gets done.

I had a call yesterday from my mother, she and dad are getting there second dose of vaccine on the 6 of June. They bought a new vehicle this week, dad wanted to pay it cash but ended up taking it with a loan, it was cheaper that way. Go figure, they think it will be the last vehicle they buy. The best news from them was that if covid restrictions lesson and they can leave their province and get back in (they live in New Brunswick), they are going to drive out for a visit. 2 years ago I would have wanted them to fly instead of driving but with covid I think they are safer driving. they will do the trip in 4 days instead of the 3 that I do it in. I can't wait to see them again. I wanted to go home again this summer. I want Melissa to see her grandparents again. She is losing ground and regressing again so I don't know how much longer she will be with us in any meaningful way.

I am going to go with a friend for a walk in the river valley today.

Sun is shining after a cold & rainy day yesterday. Hubby drove to Owen Sound and he called and said he drove thru a snow storm - he wasn't expecting that.
He stayed overnight, and surprised friends with a visit. Told him to stay til tomorrow if he wanted. The kids (3 boys) really miss seeing "Brucie". The youngest gave him a big hug and wouldn't let go. Lol

Yes I'm enjoying my "single life" today. ūü§£ūüėā

Physio app on Thurs was good. Have a few daily exercises to do. Its more the hip than the sciatic so concentrating on that.

Well must get some things done - have a good day ladies.

Good Morning All -

Little later on the computer than normal days, our cat actually let us sleep in. emoticon Cool again today but that is okay, no rain so we may do some more trimming at mom's. The bugs may not be out in force as we cut those cedars. Although we have to avoid one part as there is a nest of three baby robins, so we shall wait until they are gone.

Good thing hubby saw it ahead of time. Anyway, have a lovely day my friends.

This one just made me laugh out loud.

Probably just the fast change in weather MaryBeth. It bothers me too either with headaches or arthritis aches. Hope all is well and you are feeling fine tomorrow.

Wow, what a change in the weather today. It rained for a long time, dully and dreary outside, and very much cooler than just a couple of days ago. Had to turn the heat back on this morning. It appears that my body cannot adapt to such a drastic change. I've been fighting a headache all day, stayed in my pajamas and slept most of the day. I know I will be fine tomorrow. This is just something that happens once or twice a year for me. I can't seem to tolerate having a headache as it is not a regular occurrence for me. Thank goodness they are not migraines!

Hi girls. It's cold, windy, rainy and we even had some freezing drizzle today. Yike! What a difference from a little over a week ago when it was up to 31c. Today it was 3c. We never made it to 10 like predicted. I sure hope the plants hold up.

No little Doveys seen in the yard today. It's too darned cold for them so they must be huddled up in a tree somewhere with mom and dad until the warmth comes back.

Verna, love your vision of sitting out in the yard with bare feet on the grass and a cool drink. Hopefully, you get a few of those days this year. Hope your hip pain goes away soon. I have it too when I go to bed. I sleep on my side so when that side starts aching, I sleep on the other one until it kicks up a dust. Feel like a rotisserie chicken all night flipping around.

Kira, I'm with you and Verna. Love fresh air all night, even in the winter. If it's really cold and windy (well for us, not Edmonton, lol) I only keep it open a half inch or so. Dh and I love to hear the wind howling when the window is open just a bit.
Hope your son can make a visit to clean your vents and furnace today as scheduled.

Alicia, probably best to just go to mom's every other day or you will never have the time you need to do your own work or have a bit of a break. This way your mom won't start expecting that you be there everyday either.

Well, off to get supper out of the oven for dh and I. Hope everyone had a good day.

Alicia, it seems to me your DH loves the great outdoors and therefore likes to go to your mom's every day if possible??? Just a thought, but I agree with you every day would be too much for me as well unless I lived in an apartment!! I would love to be able to just sit in the yard with my bare feet on the cool grass, doing nothing more than sipping my "kool aid" and listening to the birds. I maybe get that chance twice all summer, MAYBE!!

I still have some bedding out plants to put in and need to buy more today BUT my hip is bothering me something fierce today so I'm not so sure I will get much done today other than absolute necessities unless the hip loosens up a bit.

Kira, I love to sleep with the window open as well. We had to move to the bedroom on the main floor since DH's dialysis stint began in February and I so miss our other bedroom with patio doors at both ends (South and north) so we NEVER had to put up with a bedroom too warm or with little air flow. I'll see how it goes when summer arrives. I may have to sleep upstairs at least part of the night!!!

I need to get out of this chair and get limbered up, especially if I intend on getting the rest of the plants in today!!

Good morning and Happy Friday,

I got up to hearing the birds chirping in the backyard, it is so nice to be able to sleep with the window open again. I love the fresh air, not really sure why night air always seems so much fresher then day time air... Must be a mental thing. I remember years ago reading a book on healthy living, written by some doctor from southern California, who felt that no matter where you lived you should always sleep with the window open a bit. pretty sure that he never saw the temps here in Edmonton in the winter. Hubby would kill me if I opened the window at -30, can't say that I would even want to get close to the window.

My son, Mac is hoping to bring his furnace truck home today after work and clean my furnace and dryer vent for me. He thinks he has a easy day, only 2 homes booked. Crossing my fingers because I know that the vents are so dirty. I can only get a little bit cleaned out myself.
